09/22/2012 Maretti (red, Conflux, ?, Mephala) def. Kilgor (blue, Necropolis, Galthran) 125 on jebus

Confirmed. Two frustrating losses.
In the first game, at 131, I took a Utopia, got a Castle, and went across the map towards the opponent. At 136, I couldn't quite reach his castle, but even if he had attacked, I was confident; a chain of units dealing 1k damage would have solved the problem. At 137, I decided to be greedy and took two angel stacks on the other side of the map with long chains of units. I boosted a hero with 3 angels; it seemed far away, but Gundula with 2 damage dealers reached me....
In the second game, I simply ran out of time, just a few seconds to teleport my hero. I had an Imp with a boost, but unfortunately, morale decided the outcome, and the fairies finished off my hero.

The AK (Arbitration Committee) will make a decision on the controversial situation in the upper bracket, and I hope this will happen within the next 2 weeks. Based on this decision, a decision will also be made regarding the tournament.
Regardless of the possible decision of the AK, I will play from the lower bracket, where I ended up after the controversial matches. I hope the organizers will understand, and besides, what difference does it make – 5 or 6 finalists:D

25.09.2012 Maretti (red, tower, aine, neela) def Amiloo (blue, stronghold, gurnisson) 147 on 2sm4d(3)

Got Neela with perfect skills and 2 gremlindwells in starting area. Had some problems with a very long way to a good t-area but got lucky and found spellbinders hat and could save alot of time flying in there. I got alot of hives there but no topes so in the end I had a big army but not huge stats.

146 I took his 2nd town and was ready to go for his main town. He tried to get his army back but didnt have the chain ready so I could attack a scout with the army on the next day. He had 9 abs but not much else and his hero was slightly weaker than neela so I think I would have won anyway. GG.

Epic game, unfortunatly with a bad aftertaste.

I thought we only play with 2 restarts now, but since its still 3 I hadnt even moved yet 1 hour after we started. But when we finally got going I got a nice start, army from 2 native heroes, necless of swiftness as bonus and a necro as main. Unfortunatly my start area was very bad and the block to 2nd area was lots monks. I also went in the wrong direction and forgot arts on a scout which lead to more loses than nessesary against 65 golems with upgrades.

117 I saw him from observatory come to the middle with horde raiders plus a behemoth, so I knew I was in deep trouble. 121 he had throng raiders and I had nothing going for me. He also had boots close to a middle town he took, but he didnt see them at first and didtn return for them when he saw them.

So 124 I beat the lots monks and moved into that area. He had allready taken the town there but had moved on instead of going for me. So after some scout wars I took those towns and boots and went for my exit guarded by horde diamond golems. Was offroad and close to it was a con that gave 3 angels. Right next to the exit was the hive area (rough). I took a hive in the desert and moved into the hive area where I could see 2 untaken hives.

Same day he attacked me. Tyrexor with 14 10, exp off, tacs and earth and plus 2 to moral. He had 5 angels, 100 raiders, 36 wyverns, 2 behemoths, 6 rocs and some gobs and pixies vs Straker 7 7 with exp res, exp off, adv armor, basic fire and air, 187 mgs, 18 magis, 3 angels, 8 naga queens some obs gargs and 368 skells.

I started and blinded his wyvs right away. He cast slow and attacked my skells with angels, luckily my gargs resisted the slow so I could block his raiders so they had to kill the gargs. He made the mistake to attack skells and angels instead of my shooters and naga queens, so with the blind and other spells I could take him out in the end since he only had mana for 2 spells.

After the game I was told that I broke the rules since I used a 75 damage meteor shower in scout wars. Lucky for me the opponent showed the class and accepted the result anyway. I believe it was the right result but i dont think many players would have done what he did. So respect for that. He said he thought I had built lvl 5 guild and I had dd or fly, but I think he would have attacked me anyway when he did.

Would be nice to see that rule changed though, since it dosent make sense at all imho. Considering how few limits there are on HW I have no clue why its forbidden to use these heroes with level 4 spells against the opponent. They are not overpowered at all.

Overall it were nice games. Thanks for playing.

Okay, I understand. Then, for your next match, you don't need to wait for a decision:

FIFTH SEMIFINAL:
Javdet - Maretti.
Deadline - October 29th.

Confirmation from Amiloo.

23.09.12 Piterius (red, Castle, Valeska, Moner) def OUTLAW (blue, Rampart, Kyrre, Kyrre), 8mm6a, 211 VT-version

On the first, I colored the neighing horses and at the start of the second week I sent weak Valeska into the Griffin Conservatory without checking — it turned out to be max. The army also had pikemen and a few griffins. Lost 7 out of 9 horses; at one point I thought about passing, but a couple of moral effects and the already exposed marksmen dealt with it. 4 peasants, Moner who was leveled by then with Conflux's army of the Conflux comp, quick construction of Town Portal and Dimension Door in that same lacquered Conflux allowed me to grab a lot of tasty stuff very quickly. By the fourth week, I had three heroes with full control, captured or recaptured 5 out of 6 comps on the map, including 1 more Castle and 2 Confluxes, with angels and birds everywhere.
At turn 211, Kyrre emerges and takes one of my towns. I catch up, in a fair fight I have a serious advantage in power. Remembered the 4th Griffin Conservatory on the first week, a couple of moral effects...:)

Thanks for the game!

23.09.12 Piterius (red, Castle, Valeska, Moner) def OUTLAW (blue, Rampart, Kyrre, Kyrre), 8mm6a, 211 VT-version

In the first week, I upgraded the horses' nook and at the start of the second week went in with weak Valeska into the Griffin Conservatory without checking — it turned out to be maxed. The army also had pikemen and a few griffins. I lost 7 out of 9 horses; at some point I considered surrender, but a couple of moral effects and already uncovered marks dealt with it. 4 lads, Moner who was leveled by then with a Conflux army from the Conflux computer opponent, quick construction of Town Portal and Dimension Door in the same lacquered Conflux allowed me to grab a lot of tasty things very fast. By the fourth week, there were already three heroes with full control, 5 out of 6 computer players on the map were captured or taken back, including 1 more Castle and 2 Confluxes, with angels and birds everywhere.
On week 2, day 1, 1, Kyrre emerges and takes one of my towns. I catch up; in the final fight there is a serious advantage in power. I remembered the 4th-level Griffin Conservatory from the first week, a couple of moral effects..:)

Thanks for the game!
1-0.
What decided it was of course the opponent's quick construction of control and leveling up assistants with control. The lack of control over a larger territory ultimately made the difference. Kyrre looked more solid in fighting capability and had a great movement advantage, but crawling around the edges of the map and fighting against a huge amount of meat (3 Confluxes) was impossible to pull off. Peter played excellently. Thanks!

I watched Amiloo broadcast. He had lot of money and he could surrender and save all his wyverns and continue game. But he thought you had 5 lvl GM (because you use meteor) and he thought you had control of the map (DD, TP, fly). He was disappointed and prefer not delay the game. :(

Confirmed. In the first game on smd I saw a bear dwelling and latched onto the spawn. On the first week I put the bears in the fort and denied Gurnisson's dwelling, spending a week on the respawn. On the second week I denied the Inferno secondary, a couple of Naga banks, a level 3 Griffin Conservatory, and crawled into the treasure zone. I collected a couple of minor artifacts, but spotted a Dragon Utopia on an Inferno respawn and immediately rushed to destroy it. In general, on week 3 there were a lot of wasted moves. The Dragon Utopia gave Wings, Shackles, and an upgrade for 9 bears. Here I should have gone to fight on day 134, but I was scared by the scouting unit that was revealing the approach to ГО . Afterwards, pointless running around in the second treasure zone, another useless Dragon Utopia, the opponent had already amassed a good number of swans and captured my secondary. Gurnisson teleported home, but the army never arrived, ingloriously killed on a scorpion. ГГ

The second game is truly epic)) "Well, if I give away a spawn like that, I might as well be awarded the title of Crab of the Season" (c) Amilu
Tyraxor with 3 stacks of Wolf Raiders, 2 native heroes, 2 Barbarian villages, and an external dwelling of wolves gave me a good build-up, leveling, and access to the treasure zone on day 124 with a hundred wolves, 2 Angels, 2 Behemoths, 6 birds, and a bunch of assorted cannon fodder. By the way, the treasure zone was on Barbarian land. At this point I get complacent :) and tempted by a small Pandora's Box, another Griffin Conservatory, and a Sword +2+2. I get distracted for another 2 turns, +3 Angels. As a result, I start gobbling up artifacts only from day 127, but the opponent is nowhere to be seen in the center.
After eating 36 swans, I see the opponent in the center on day 133 (he broke through via the second passage, but I for some reason decided he had control), I start to freak out terribly, thinking he has built Horde Master 5, he has control (somewhere in the middle of the game I lost a Dimension Door scroll from a scorpion), and in this panicked state I attack him (even though I myself had a Town Portal scroll and a level 4 guild, I could have just eaten a couple more hives right under his nose and flown away safely). Well, and the final from heaven on Maretti's part and maximum incompetence on mine, after the fight I surrender, look at the spawn and realize that I scared myself, it was the only possible way to lose, and I didn't miss it :)
Thanks for the games !

Javdet (red, dungeon, Shackti, Gunnar) def Maretti (blue, castle, Caitlin, Charna) 225 mini-nostalgia 1-0

I was pleased with the draw: 2 native heroes in the tavern, among them Gunnar. Boots are visible right away. A couple of Griffin Conservatories. Then Gloves of the Gauntlet too. Delight overflowing. Gradually, the joy fades - on slow roads I try to kill at least one of the computer players, but in both cases I hit a blockade at the castle.

On 121, I killed a couple of dwarves for 5k gold each; Shakti, the miner, maxed Earth magic and, with Mass Slow, chooses which Conservatory to break. Both are 100+. Lucky they weren't maxed; it would have hurt, though not fatally. Gunnar is on his way to the 3rd computer player. And then it gets scary - I see the opponent's necromancer with 10+ angels (it turned out later there were at least about 5 Conservatories within easy reach). Gunnar runs into the pampas, finds another Conservatory, and waits for a delivery while Shakti heads toward the ГО. Of course, what I feared happened - a computer player emerges from the fog and takes down the scout hero on the last few tiles. We lose a couple of days because of this.

On the 3rd, Gunnar with 4 Phoenixes runs to the side treasure zone; Shakti with Mass Slow pushes into the center. I even lost a slow creature; in the center, only a couple of Dragon Utopias and a Dragon Fly Hive are visible behind archangels. I check the Dragon Utopia on the way - it's level 3; I don't touch it yet, but I think, what if I try to drop in on the opponent. And I attacked his ГО with devils. The griffin stack on the very first turn kills exactly one angel; confusion and tilt begin, and I lose another angel and something among the trogs. I no longer felt like visiting - above, the metro is guarded by ghost [creatures]. Then things got worse: I attacked with Tazar to level Logistics and lost another angel. I felt like surrendering.
Somehow I take a Dragon Utopia - a mini and a Hat for 4 Attack/Knowledge. I take another Dragon Utopia; it's much better - Air [Magic] and a Cuirass for 4/4 and something else. And I must give credit to the opponent - despite having vastly superior stats and army, he allowed me to fiddle around in that treasure zone for almost a week. As it turned out, this was a fatal mistake for him - control was catastrophically not on his side (and for the lulz, I built a 5th mage guild and got Dimension Door there. Well, not entirely for the lulz. I don't know the rules perfectly, so I built a 4th [mage guild] to play it safe, and a 5th to avoid getting [penalized] for using a Dimension Door scroll).
Gunnar takes another level-3 Dragon Utopia - all artifacts there are duplicates of what I already have

Then came the running around, and deciding to upgrade a measly 5 angels, I got caught out. I miscalculated the movement on slow roads (I don't have much experience on slow roads; I usually play medium ones) and didn't make it to the castle; nothing to be done, we fly behind the mountains and wait to see if they resolve things or not. I got lucky - captured the capitol, killed the chained scout hero, upgraded the angels, and Maretti, apparently angered by this insolence, came visiting. He didn't come in a straight line over the mountains but took the ring road. I realize he has no control, and a sliver of hope appears.

More running around, and I managed to kill about 30 Wyverns. By the end of the game, I had bred my own ducks up to 117. And then it was a game of cat-and-mouse, which could be ended by a Dragon Utopia, a scroll, or a lucky level-5 from the opponent. While the opponent's main hero ran back and forth retaking castles, I cleared another treasure zone, cheesy found a Tome of Earth Magic, and another Dragon Utopia with a Tome of Fire Magic. But the plan to thin out [his army] with Armageddon or destroy his catapult proved unworkable - he had higher speed, an Elixir [of Life], and Expert Catapult.

It seemed we would be playing for about 3 months, since time was already working in my favor. Plus, I still had 5 heroes with full control. But I notice that Straker slipped away from the capitol and left the army, also very strong, to Charna. I check with a scout hero - no Elixir, but the resistance to Armageddon was impressive. I had to seize the opportunity, especially since I had a Blackshard [of the Dead Knight] for the resistance. Implosion at 3500 and 800 mana left the necromancer no chance. 2300 skeletons held out for only 2 rounds.

Thanks for the game.
Thanks for game.

The black orb only removes native immunities, not resistances.
Then you got lucky!))
I don't know what this orb does in Shades of Darkness, but in Horn of the Abyss, resistance becomes a useless skill when this orb is used. I need to read up on it.

Both in the World Tree and in the Soda map, the orb works the same way. Resistance is completely useless, as is Thorgrim, but, for example, the aura of the unicorns can actually take effect.

Let's reiterate for the hundredth time about the black orb. The orb removes immunities and resistances. If Roma attacked with the orb, the skeletons would have no resistance to the explosion. However, if Maretti had cast Armageddon, there would be a chance for resistance! If Maretti's army had phoenixes, Armageddon cast by Maretti would not have worked, but Armageddon cast by Jvadet would have been effective. Learn the details!

I confirm. I dont think it was a mistake not to rush. No reson to walk into empty area with no trasportspells when you can make a huge amount of skells. I ended up with 3,3 k skells and 4 to health plus high stats. What cost me the game was that I failed to get any transport spells, which was my own fault but also somewhat unlucky not to get anything from my 3 t-areas.
