and a swarm of fairies, even not inferior to a crowd of skeletons, will overwhelm more than one Archangel:D

...the benefit of using the same magma elemental and energy is to apply enchantments; after a couple of turns, the entire army has an enchantment that protects against everything:D
Enchantments are useful, but this is in the fourth game. Here, it only provides protection from impact magic of one of the schools. And try to guess which school you will encounter.
The duration depends on the amount of magic power, 10 power = 10 rounds. Also, cast healing spells on your units if they are slowed. In my opinion, 3 schools of magic might be too much.
It's true that the benefit might not always be realized, as, for example, if you throw a phoenix into the thick of battle, the blessing will give it a 33% increase in average damage on hit and counter-attack, and the shield will reduce damage by 30% from 7 hits. But if we exclude magical elements, then for the Conflux, blessing is a quite useful spell.
The guy was asking about something slightly different. The idea was that casting mass speed and mass slow would be preferable, and therefore mass bless could be delayed for a few rounds.
Regarding the topic - indeed, that's the case, so it's better to level up 2 magic skills, and the third one closer to the end of the hero's development, if needed. Water is generally good for the Conflux, I usually take it if there's a bless skill available.
Water magic contains not only Blessing! :) There are a lot of very useful spells, so a warrior hero should definitely learn it! Healing, Remove Curse, Weakness, Forgetfulness, Prayer, Clone, Teleport... On single-player maps, Summon Boat (sometimes it is necessary to create it from scratch, which requires at least advanced water magic) and Walk on Water are also often valuable.
There are useful spells in all schools, so there's no need to learn them all just for that.
Juristis, lately I've been leveling up everything I can learn. Right now, I've just captured the Conflux and brought all the secondary heroes there (the two strongest already have all their secondary skills maxed out): it's better to have a school of magic than Mysticism, Sorcery, or some other random garbage imposed by the game.
To be honest, I'll express my opinion about the Conflux: they put together a collage of monsters and made a castle, and it's incredibly overpowered...=(
