TOURNAMENT DATES:
06 February - 25 March - preliminary stage.
We play a pure round-robin. A win awards 2 points, a draw - 1 point, a loss - 0 points.
18 March - 08 April - main stage (preliminary).
The top 4 players from each group advance, those who take the first 4 places in their respective groups. These players are determined by points earned. In case of a tie, the head-to-head result is used, then the Buchholz coefficient.
A simple single-elimination Olympic system:

the player who took 2nd place in Group 1 plays the player who took 3rd place in Group 2 - (2);

the winner of pair (2) plays the winner of pair (4) - (B).
final - the winner of pair A plays the winner of pair (B)
match for 3rd place - the loser of pair (A) plays the loser of pair (B).
Games are played on the latest official version of the game. Currently – HoMM V: Tribes of the East 3.1. We play on the original version, i.e., without mods.
By default, games are played on the Ubi server. By agreement, the game can be played via Hamachi, COMODO EasyVPN, GameRanger, and similar programs.
Before generating the map, opponents must agree on the player color they will play (red or blue). If a player chooses red, that player bans templates and factions second.

Map generation is done using IRMG. Topic on map generation using IRMG.
Just in case, I remind you of the basic settings for map generation:
1."Zones Compatibility Factor" = 1.5
2."Monster Strength Factor" = 1.0
3."Portal Connection Only" - off (i.e., the button is not pressed)
3."No obstacles On Map" - off
4."Sigle Faction Guard" - Off
5."Selected Faction guard only" - off
6."Different Faction" - on
7."Disable Intant Travel" - off
8."Chaos week" - off

Game settings:
Turn time limit – 8 minutes.
Animation speed – 5.
Quick combat – on.
Simultaneous turns – on.
Dynamic combat – off.
Ghost mode – off.
Autosave – on.
Game difficulty – hero

Hero - random
Bonus - at the player's discretion.

Template banning is done by each player sequentially banning one template at a time from the full list for each game. That is, the ban scheme is 1-1...1-1.
Faction banning is done according to the standard scheme 1-2...2-1. That is, a list of 8 factions for the red player and 8 factions for the blue player is made. The blue player starts banning by removing 1 faction either for themselves or for the opponent. Then the red player bans either 2 factions for themselves, or 2 for the opponent, or 1 for themselves and 1 for the opponent. And so on, until both players have 1 faction left.
List of templates:
large size - chaos, spiral, smile, diamond.
huge size - M3, sun, letos, labyrinth, mask, rainbow, spider.

Daily saves are mandatory. Since the game has autosave, it is recommended to save once every 3 days.
Each player has the right to one restart with map regeneration no later than the end of day 2 of week 1 of month 1.

Prohibitions:
The use of any bugs, undocumented features, cheat codes, as well as unofficial programs and modifications, except for programs creating virtual networks, is prohibited.
The "Red-rush" tactic is prohibited, i.e., attacking on the first day of the week with bought growth (the red player can attack on the first day, but without buying growth).
Any joining of neutrals is prohibited; as an exception, joined neutrals can be sacrificed to a pit or sold on the market.
Using the travel spell "Astral Gate" to jump into the opponent's starting zone is prohibited.
Leveling up and using the "Mentoring" ability within the "Education" skill is prohibited.

If a situation arises where additional time for a game is needed, or the round opponent does not make contact, do not hesitate to inform the tournament judge about this fact in this thread in a timely manner. Record your battles with opponents and be sure to save finals. In case of disputes, these records can help the judge make decisions. Please write to me via ICQ or in this thread about all disputable situations; it is desirable to include the situation description from both participants involved. In the absence of activity from opponents regarding a specific game, a technical loss is awarded to both. If one of the opponents ignores, "stalls" the game, and so on, a technical loss is awarded to that opponent...

Questions:
The "Red-rush" tactic is prohibited, i.e., attacking with red units on the first day of the week with a purchased bonus (the red player can attack on the first day, but without purchasing the bonus).
Are there any templates where this is possible?
Any joining of neutral creatures is prohibited; as an exception, joined creatures can be sacrificed in a pit or sold on the market.
In my humble opinion, diplomacy in H5 is not as overpowered as in Might and Magic III ;) I don't remember a situation where it saved me (except on one single-player map); on the contrary, I took it once, and no one joined me even once during the entire game.

Are there any maps where this is possible?
The map itself isn't the issue. You can use a chain of creatures to move almost anywhere on the map in a single turn, or to defend effectively.

Ah, I finally understood the point :) I was already getting worried that we were talking about the first day in general, and not the first day of the new week :D Zubr, are you participating?

I also have a couple of questions.
Are the starting zones native?
Are the creature strengths on Grand Skill Challenge "strong" or "very strong"?

I forgot to specify. I'll write it now.
The zones will be native, as we are setting specific factions according to the draw.

Link to download the archive with templates.
By the way, this link is not to the templates themselves, but to a mod that allows you to use these templates. It needs to be placed in the "UserMODs" folder in the game directory. And here is the link to the templates themselves, although I took them from a neighboring tournament.

Indeed.
I haven't played using this scheme for about 3 years: everything has faded from memory.
I made the appropriate changes to the rules.
But I don't understand why a link to the templates themselves is needed?
It's enough to do as you described, and everything works...

I just don't understand why a link to the templates themselves is needed.
It's enough to do as you described, and everything works...
And indeed, the templates themselves don't seem to be needed... It's just strange: this mod weighs 60 KB, and the templates themselves weigh as much as 68 MB. Is it really not necessary to put them anywhere, and is this mod enough?

I'm definitely not a PRO, especially since the original game is quite different from the Tribes of the East mod.
