After all, once freed, Red gathers resources and artifacts. What if he reached the underground before the human player? What if he dug up the Grail?
This means the human player can lose. That's all. Computer opponents are a necessary condition for the game. I tried to create as equal conditions as possible for Blue and Red. Marmot
I just checked: in all cases, the guard's duration is not set by default if you don't click that damn checkbox! It's frustrating when they make me look like an idiot in front of the whole world! :(
Dear Marmot, believe me, I didn't want to make you look like an idiot. I just checked, and it's true that the duration is not set by default without the checkbox. I was sure it wasn't there. I must have forgotten to remove it. But why this insignificant detail attracts your attention remains a mystery to me. As I have already understood, you simply need to find any defect :D I don't object, but rather welcome it.:smile02: Marmot
I will report on my progress. I hope there will be no more misunderstandings!
Of course, there will be, I'm sure you'll find them :)
Is the map in your version ready yet? I remember the release date was supposed to be a long time ago :)

Addition. Today, I started this map from the beginning a couple of times, both in SoD and in the Complete Collection. And Red didn't die! The problem, it seems, is that the hero is random.
You might be right.Marmot
I don't want to argue at all. And I like the map. The only oddity is Red's "bad" behavior. The main thing is to win!
I will try to correct this. Apparently, during my map tests (about 15 times), he just didn't want to die:smile16:, but with you, he died in the very first battle.:smile17:

Samatron's maps are some of the best I've played, and I had no problems with this map. The only thing is that after defeating everyone except Diablo, I had to spend a couple of weeks gathering troops.
Искатель78 Thank you for the kind words. It's always nice to hear. I hope to release something new soon...:D
Cain, could you provide more details: how much did your Red faction develop? Did it enter the Dungeon? Was it difficult to defeat?
It developed quite well and breached the gates to my territory. It also entered the Dungeon, but it wasn't difficult to kill, although it had a large army. I really liked the map.
There are many well-thought-out elements and hidden areas. Now I want to play through all of samatron's maps.
Well, Lucifer is defeated! Let me summarize. Actually, I liked this map more than the previously completed "Search for the Lost City," "Island of the Small Skull," and "Island of Edge." There are practically no drawbacks; the only misunderstanding I had, we discussed it thoroughly. Advantages: 1. I completed the XL-sized map in 8 months, 2 weeks, and 2 days. This is a very good result for such a size (of course, it could be completed even faster, but I deliberately saved my strength for "battles" with the final enemies). 2. There were no particular difficulties in progressing: I didn't have to wander around for a long time, desperately searching for something or collecting pieces of some Dragon Power. After visiting the cartographers, the sea and then the land opened up. Everything became crystal clear, as in the song: "I know the password, I see the landmark!" :) 3. Traditionally for your maps, there are many artifacts and useful resources. :) 4. There were no "hiding places" here either: neither the necessary artifacts nor the monoliths behind volcanic smoke. I must say: I didn't complete the optional quests because you, samatron, hinted that they are not mandatory. ;) Special thanks for: the Angel Alliance, the Legion Statue, the Elixir of Life, the Grail, Jelu (improved my archers to snipers!)... maybe I forgot to mention something else. The only surprise almost at the very end was an unpleasant fellow named Aznain: :) he turned out to be strong and tough, and his primary skills were even higher than Lucifer's: 69/69/74/71 and 55/55/55/55, respectively. Perhaps this is because you weakened Lucifer? What exactly was reduced: primary skills or the army? What were they before?
I have a couple of suggestions (not complaints!) regarding "making life more difficult for players": :) 1. The garrison in the north of the dungeon, guarding the black tent, could be strengthened: I overcame it easily, and no one even had time to bite me! 2. In the northwest corner of the dungeon, behind the blue border gates, there are about fifteen valuable artifacts - and only 2 of them are guarded by dragons. Perhaps it would be worth placing dragons instead of the gates or immediately behind them, so that it wouldn't be so easy? ;) 3. There, nearby, is a legion of titans, guarding the components for assembling the Legion Statue. I tried to attack them once, but then I didn't try again: there are too many of them, and I already had the statue by that time.
Regarding individual nuances on the maps: they are almost inevitable, but I try to clarify the situation because different moments are not always obvious (I periodically check something myself), and discussing them is useful for everyone who creates their own maps. Sometimes I am too direct, sorry. I wish you success in mapmaking!

I weakened Lucifer, removing both the army and the primary skills. The army was reduced by approximately ¼. I don't remember the skills anymore. Did you have difficulties with him, or did you kill him easily? Marmot
I have a couple of suggestions regarding making the game more challenging for players: :)
I read the suggestions. I will definitely strengthen the garrison. I will also think about the artifacts and "freebies."
Thank you, Marmot, for the detailed feedback and suggestions.:smile20: If everyone wrote like you did.:smile02:
samatron, I also wanted to add something about Lucifer. As the saying goes in another song: "the last battle is the hardest." Maybe it wasn't the hardest in the end, but... Lucifer is quite the trickster: he recruited phoenixes and azure dragons into his army. I wonder what he used to lure them? :) So, I had an interesting experience (and how about others who have played through it?): I repeated the attack on Lucifer about 5 times, and the same thing kept happening. I have a speed cloak, an alliance of angels, and the archangels are divided into 2 stacks. It seems like my turn should be first. But the archangels would freeze in fear (both stacks!), and the initiative would pass to the enemy. :( 4 times I retreated because such a start was not inspiring at all. On the 5th time, I tried to fight anyway - and won, although the losses were significant in the end, but the army is no longer needed for anything further, and if I had to fight again, I would have waited, especially since reinforcements would arrive in a day. In general, it wasn't so much difficult as annoying: if it weren't for the fear of the azure dragons, I would have cast berserk (by the way, thanks for that, I found a scroll!) and the battle would have been almost a fun game. For example, I defeated the crystal dragons in the center of the dungeon using berserk. By the way, although expert fire and earth magic were very useful in the walkthrough, in the last battles on the magic fields, it doesn't matter what skills the hero has learned: all magic is expert level.

Dragons are treacherous creatures, and the fear they inflict on the army has also happened to me more than once, which, of course, didn't bring much joy. :smile26: I'm glad that you succeeded. I added Berserk for those who don't know how to fight, and in the final battle, it might be useful to someone, especially against dragons. Regarding magic, I need to think about it. Maybe I'll fix this. I'll think about it some more...;)
Actually, I thought the opposite: Berserk is for those who can fight! :) I mean, not just on this map, but in general. I recently played a couple of maps where only Berserk allows you to win (due to the ratio of troop numbers).

Berserk is for those who really don't know how to fight.
In reality, Berserk is a very complex spell. And it's not easy to master. Because there are bugs in Berserk, where a unit might not attack, but just stand there. AlexSPL has found a lot of information on this topic.
Applying Berserk effectively and countering it is very difficult.
Сейчас балуюсь этим https://vcmi.eu/download/ За то что нейтралы не бегают за единичкой, для меня это уже стоит того
Thank you very much for the map! Even though it took 8 months, the interest didn't really fade. After getting the invulnerability medal from the dragon castle, I killed all the monsters and enemies, including Lucifer, without any losses. The blindness and slow effects started working on everyone, and I could even resurrect my own dragons! Imagine a dragon fighting, and then an Archangel resurrects it! I had an uncle with high intelligence, and by the end, he had 4000 mana, and his legion of titans, with forgetfulness and slow effects, perished without losses. And a titan, with a power field and frenzy, killed Lucifer's azure dragons! Lucifer didn't use his sacrifice ability; resurrecting azure dragons would have been intense.
Another round of applause for the author. The map is dynamic, interesting, and quite engaging. There were no problems encountered. Lucifer fell rather easily. He cast Frenzy on the dragon for some reason and immediately paid the price. Otherwise, it was a very positive experience.
This time, the map seemed too simple to me. The idea of limiting the AI opponents and rigidly dividing the territories doesn't seem very playable. And in this map, the balance is completely off. The heroes in the Dungeon are just easy targets; for example, I defeated Lucifer on the sixth month without any losses in the first attack. The army you start with makes development easy by simply destroying everything and easily capturing resources. And it continues in the same vein; only the Tower offered some resistance, while the others didn't even have much of a chance. In your maps, the AI opponents don't usually offer much resistance, but this time it was particularly noticeable. But overall, thanks again for the map; I haven't played Heroes in a long time, and your maps have really captivated me.

Thank you for your opinion, Egg. I hope you'll like the next maps even more. Good luck! :smile02:
