Posts from "ZDM" Tournament for Heroes V (offline).
Congratulations to wolf64 on the victory!
I thought that it would be possible to finish it within a week - towards the end, it became too easy, but there wasn't enough motivation to improve the result. :-)

The main ideas.
First, the mistakes. Since the guild has good spells – summoning and chaos (from the library). I decided to make the hero a summoner first. But it turned out to be a long process – building 5 guilds, a tower of mages, and a library takes 7 buildings, and you also need troops. In this test run, I finished in 15 days, and realized that there was no point in trying to shave off a couple more days.
Then I decided to use the well-known tactic for the city of mages – to defeat everyone with obsidian golems, due to their special ability – to heal (restore) from magic. And machines to help, of course.
I took the starting hero – Nazir, because I decided not to build a magic guild at all, and he already has a firebolt at the start, the power of which increases with the hero's level. Unfortunately, I couldn't upgrade the path of war…. Well, it turned out to be easiest to break through the garrison by first killing the emerald dragons and taking the book of dark magic! (although, it could have been done without it – I managed to do it in 9 days).
And also, the secrets of chaos gave a random spell from the magic of chaos. So, when I completed the map in 8 days, I got the wall of fire, and in the final version (in 7 days) – I got the ring of cold.
You could go in two ways – down, through the succubus, or to the right – through the priests and a one-way portal. I chose the shorter path – through the priests.
In the end, the main character Nazir is level 19, with stats of 5+8+16+25=54. Mercury - 35
I leveled up the hero like this:
Wizard's sign, strong chaos, education, secrets of chaos, magic attraction, machines, ballista, advanced machines, machine gun (SCSB), secondary education, artificial chaos, artificial machines, higher education, darkness, master of pain, master of storms, magical reward, and graduate.
Day 1.
In the city, we build a forge. (Because I want to have upgraded golems on day 3.)
We buy Tilshek, buy gremlins in the city and transfer the troops to Nazir (without gargoyles). Nazir goes to the knowledge dolmen and to fight the megarcs for the boots of speed (to run confidently on the snow). Tilshek picks up the boots after the battle and gives them to Nazir for permanent use. Then, Nazir defeats the fairies, picks up a chest for experience, and goes to the well, but doesn't have time to drink the water.
We buy Razzak and send him to the top – to the golem forge (it stands near the steel golems and doesn't touch anyone).
Day 2.
In the city, we build a golem forge.
Nazir drinks water from the well and defeats the plague zombies, warmongers, gets +1 attack in the mercenary camp, and steel golems.
Razzak captures the golem forge. In the city, with the help of a caravan, we buy 9 golems from the forge. Razzak adds his own to the caravan… there are 24 golems in the cart.
Then he picks up some gold that the zombies were guarding.
Tilshek goes to the mill and to the city.
Nazir returns to his beloved well (but again doesn't have time to drink).
Day 3.
In the city, we build a foundry.
Tilshek upgrades the golems to obsidian golems and transfers them (32 pieces) to Nazir.
Nazir drinks water (mana became 105), defeats obsidian gargoyles, takes knowledge +1, then fights paladins, plague zombies, and rune priests. For the last battle with the priests, I put 32 golems (obs.), and 4 squads of one orc and gremlins each. (there was very little mana left – 22, so the next day I didn't attack everyone in a row).
Razzak captures the gold mine (the only and last one in the tournament).
Day 4.
In the city, we build a market. Tilshek sells an artifact – a trident.
We buy another hero – Narhiz, buy the last golem, upgrade it, and transfer it to Razzak.
Nazir goes through the one-way portal, goes to another respawn, defeats cave lords, then, through the flag, defeats spear masters, flag, stable, defeats assassins, flag, fountain of youth, then fights dark hydras, in the library increases knowledge and magic by +2, and defeats swordsmen.
Razzak also comes to the respawn through the portal to Nazir.
Day 5.
In the city, we build a parapet for gargoyles (most likely in vain, they weren't really needed for the finale).
Nazir defeats the light unicorns, gets +2 attack in the arena, and goes through another one-way portal to another respawn. During the transition, he had to fight archers. Then, to the left, he kills bone dragons, picks up a valuable artifact – the armor of the forgotten hero, and defeats the gargoyle lair (storage).
Razzak also stops at the main character through the portal.
We buy another secondary hero – Faiz. In a chain, he transfers 14 gargoyles to Razzak.
Day 6.
Nazir defeats the djinns and drinks water – mana became 300.
Razzak picks up a chainmail with experience and transfers it to Nazir. He puts it on, defeats the minotaur overseers, then runs forward to the flag, defeats the emerald dragons, flag, obsidian golems, flag, megarcs, death knights, and archers.
Razzak runs to pick up the book of darkness (it's just a step away). The cockroaches collect resources.
Day 7.
Razzak picks up the book of darkness, runs happily to Nazir and transfers troops to him (14 gargoyles and 1 golem), the book, and takes away unnecessary artifacts – boots of speed, chainmail with experience, and cat's fur (for further exchange of resources and artifacts in the factory).
Nazir (level 17) picks up gold and chests (for money) and goes to the finale.
Troops before the battle – 34 gremlins, 23 gargoyles, 33 obsidian golems, 3 squads of one gremlin each, and a lone gargoyle. The battle is easy, because there was darkness, master of pain, and the coveted book. After the battle, 24 gargoyles and 32 golems remained (I sacrificed the gremlins, and once, in battle, the golems did not restore their number from the firebolt – 20% resistance to magic worked, which was given by the armor of the forgotten hero). After the battle, I got 2 more levels and became level 19.
The cockroaches picked up everything they could… Razzak exchanged everything in the factory for mercury.
P.S. – if it were to be, I could have defeated the garrison on day 6, but I didn't have time for the Christmas tree. I had to go around all the stat boosters (attack, knowledge, magic)… so that the last 7th day wouldn't be wasted.

Thank you for the congratulations!
And why wasn't there any motivation? You are a strong player, and a lot is within your power. I, on the other hand, thought that I would have to fight you for the prize. Of course, I don't underestimate the merits of other strong opponents.
But, for some reason, few players sent in saves. And yet, the map was fun, there was a lot to do before the finale.

Here is another one – you can download all the battle replays – http://ifolder.ru/10918513

To be honest, I just got tired of running away from zombies and the like... I visited the Well for the first time only before the Priests, and I leveled up Nazira in Education, Chaos, and Darkness, so the battles without mana were quite tedious... :-) I had to sacrifice the Ballista in the battle for the Breastplate of Might (for some reason, I decided that I desperately needed those +2sp).

Nazira focused on education, chaos, and darkness, so battles without mana were quite tedious... :-) I had to sacrifice a ballista in the battle for a powerful breastplate (for some reason, I decided that I desperately needed those +2sp).
So, you also chose a tome of darkness :) Yeah, taking out two squads with spear masters at the beginning of the game is fun! (and all for what, +2 to spell power)
P.S. - wouldn't you want to write a walkthrough so that others can adopt interesting ideas? Especially, it's interesting for beginners to read, and there's also an unwritten rule - the first three usually write a report.;)

Heh))) I have exactly the same build, only after the machine gun, I took Wizardry.
I didn't rush to the Emerald Dragon, because I was already completing the map in 9 days.
Here is the build: Level 2 - Sign of the Wizard Level 3 - Strong Magic of Chaos Level 4 - Basic Education Level 5 - Secrets of Chaos Level 6 - Magic Attraction Level 7 - Basics of Machine Control Level 8 - Ballista Level 9 - Advanced Machine Control Level 10 - Rapid-Fire Ballista Level 11 - Intermediate Education Level 12 - Basics of Wizardry Level 13 - Witch's Reward Level 14 - Skilled Magic of Chaos Level 15 - Pyrokinesis Level 16 - Mana Replenishment Level 17 - Basics of Summoning Magic Level 18 - Higher Education Stats per level: Attack: 1, Defense: 5, Magic: 11, Knowledge: 18 Stats with equipped artifacts: Attack: 3, Defense: 11, Magic: 12, Knowledge: 20 Total: 46 The route is as follows: First day: Nazir defeats the Megera, Pixies, visits the well. Second day: Zombies, Minotaurs, Golems, well (total 105 mana). Third day: Minotaurs at the shield, Executioners, Gargoyles (I don't even know why, you could have saved a turn here), Cerberuses. Fourth day: Minotaurs at the crystal mine, shields, dwarf treasure. Fifth day: Goblins (again, I don't know why they bothered me), chest, I stop near the Succubus. Sixth day: I buy Phoenix Feathers, defeat the Succubus, then the Minotaurs (why?), chests. Seventh day: Armored Knights, stable, mage treasure. Eighth day: well, Hydras, more Hydras, Death Knights. Last day: garrison and the coveted Christmas tree.
I wanted to improve the time to 8 days overnight, but unfortunately, I didn't have time. Then there were problems with the internet, I couldn't send the save with 9 days, I only managed to send it at 12.40. But at that time, the results of the tournament had already been published. Besides, the respected organizer did not respond to messages via ICQ. Well, as they say, it wasn't meant to be ;)
Still, thank you for the tournament, I don't regret spending my free time on it.

I didn't receive any messages, and I still don't see them. It's better to write in private messages. It's a pity, of course. But there was plenty of time. Just stop doing everything at the last moment. That's what happens then.

I think I'll post the walkthrough after the holidays, because it's difficult to type a lot of text on my phone... P.S. I also kept wanting to kill everyone and conquer everything; I barely managed to restrain myself :-), probably it's just a habit...

Tried my hand at a tournament for the first time. Turns out I'm playing completely wrong! Congratulations to wolf64 on the victory, and thank you for the description and replays – I'll gain some experience))) Special thanks to the tournament organizers!
The Fox played in her own style:) The hero is standing near the Christmas tree. The Castle and mines have been captured by the computer, and its heroes are running around the map in search of the desired victim:)
And I don't mind giving up anything for a good game) even honestly captured mines:o ) By the way, the hero was chasing me) I had to avoid taking the chests that were near the garrison))...I barely managed to escape))
And I was leveling up pyrokinesis and education:smile19: And long live the Mage's Mark)) I don't remember in what order I killed whom) because at first I was recording, and then I just stopped) and as soon as I stopped recording, I immediately broke through the garrison:confused: This is just a personal achievement for me)) Congratulations to the winners:smile02: ...and myself:smile49:

I only started playing the map a couple of days before it ended. I couldn't find the Tome of Darkness, so I downloaded the Phoenix summoning spell and lost time while building up my magic. It would have been easier to break through with the tome. Where was it located?
I didn't find the Tome of Darkness, so I downloaded the Phoenix summoning spell and wasted time while building up my magic. It would have been easier to break through with the tome. Where was it?
Emerald dragons guarded it - 6 of them... to the right of the garrison, along the path ;) Without the tome, I completed it in 9 days.
So, as promised... here is my walkthrough:
I would like to note that the starting conditions were almost ideal: Nazir (one of my favorite mage heroes) at the start, Razazak (golems) and Tilsek (ballista) in the tavern; Boots of Striding allow one hero and a couple of gremlins to kill most melee units, Boots of Swiftness – and logistics are no longer needed, and dark magic allows you to deal with the "frost giants" practically without an army... :)
The main idea is to use a combination of elder gremlins and golems (repairing) for clearing the map, and then obsidian golems, healed by the wall of fire (it is given for "Secrets of Chaos", and in general, the spell depends on the level at which the perk is taken).
Main hero - Nazir. Level 18

Level 10 - Expert Master of Artifacts

Attack: 1, Defense: 4, Spell Power: 11+2+2, Knowledge: 21+2
Day 1:
In the castle, we build a Gremlin Manufactory; we hire Tilsek and Razazak;
Megeras (-20 mana) – Boots of Swiftness – skeleton archers – fairies (near the observatory) – we stop near the zombies (level 4);
Cockroaches collect everything that is lying around throughout the game and help with troop delivery.
Day 2:
Zombies – gremlin pests (we only deploy golems, which the gremlins diligently break while the hero shoots them) – gnome treasure (-10 mana) – javelin throwers – we spend the night near the second squad of javelin throwers (level 7);
Castle – Forge;
Day 3:
Javelin throwers (-10 mana and ballista) – breastplate of great might – minotaurs (we run away from them with 4 gremlins) – we spend the night near the cerberuses (level 9);
We capture the stone parapet, Razazak takes the gargoyles;
Castle – Golem Forge;
Day 4:
Cerberuses (we lure them into one pile with heroic and repeated self-sacrifice of 3 golems and burn them with 1 fireball, -10 mana) – magic passage shrine (I thought raise dead would be useful for the battle with the frost giants) - zombies – we spend the night near a pile of wood by the road (level 10);
Castle – Foundry;
Day 5:
Golems – orcs – zombies – well (195 mana) – we move towards the portal, guarded by priests (level 12);
We capture the Golem Forge, from where the caravan moves to the castle;
Castle – Market;
We sell the Titan's Trident, hire Rutger;
Day 6:
We get obsidian golems from Razazak - gargoyles - priests – portal – we stop near the centaurs (level 13);
We sell the Boots of Striding (they are no longer needed);
Castle – Stone Parapet;
Day 7:
We build the Obsidian Parapet and, in a chain, get elemental gargoyles – elemental tower - flag – javelin throwers – flag – assassins – flag – stable – druids – flag – hydras – library – knights – portal – archers – we move towards the well (level 15);
Day 8:
Well – flag – dragons – tome of darkness – flag – furies at the fortress – knights of death (we get level 16, and with it, expert dark magic!) - we also spend the night there;
Day 9:
Garrison (the battle was not difficult: the frost giants killed themselves under hypnosis and berserk with the mage's mark, and Nazir occasionally warmed up their enthusiasm with fireballs..., we get level 18...) – we reach the Christmas tree – Hooray!
Rutger takes the tome of darkness and boots from Nazir – everything, including resources, goes to the market, which allowed us to get 62 mercury;
Conclusion:
It was not necessary to be distracted by secondary tasks, but it was necessary to immediately go for the golems, as wolf64 did, then it would not be necessary to use Nazir as a shooter, and not as a mage, and the result would be a couple of days better... :)

Thank you. It seems we've waited for everyone, only the ranking is left, but there's still no news about our "suicidal" player. I'm moving the topic to the appropriate section.
