Well, I think this is still better than relying on chance and replaying. Even though you won't gain experience, the troops will be lost fairly. Otherwise, you could replay, and luck might be distributed differently, and resistance might work differently, and a unicorn might blind someone, and a dragon's foresight might age someone... and one gremlin might die and not plug the hole in the wall...

Oh, how clever!!! Let's disband all the troops, and the winning hero won't get any experience for the victory. What a brilliant rule!!!!!
