Heroes III Tournament
"Adventures of Shakti" (Adventures of Shakti)

General Tournament Rules:

1. To participate in the Heroes III Tournament, you must register on our website and leave an application in this thread.

List of tournament participants:

2.1. The tournament is held on Russian versions of Heroes of Might and Magic III:
The Shadow of Death (Version 3.2) or Complete Collection [Platinum Edition] (Version 4.0) with the installed patch LMPatch (Version 3.1.1.1) or 2.2.1.1, 2.1.1.1.
Patch information is here. It is permitted to complete the tournament on English versions of Heroes (see general rules for offline tournaments). Saves that do not meet these conditions will not be considered.
2.2. The tournament is conducted according to the general rules of offline tournaments; if any points in this thread are unclear, read the topic Offline Tournament Rules + FAQ.

3. The goal of the game is to win the map in the minimum number of days. In case of a tie in days, the deciding criterion is the sum of primary skills (attack, defense, magic, knowledge) including equipped artifacts. If a favorite is still not determined, it will be decided by the amount of sulfur. The tournament is rated, which means you have the opportunity to enter the individual rating table and increase your clan rating.

4. Discussion of the tournament during its progress is FORBIDDEN!!!
If the organizer or their assistant finds documented proof of tournament discussion anywhere on the Internet, they have the right to permanently exclude such player(s) from participating in HeroesWorld tournaments. The results of such players will not be counted and will be immediately annulled.
The tournament organizer also reserves the right to conclude that a tournament discussion took place between players if players from the same clan completed the tournament identically.

5. Use of any cheats or bugs in the final run is prohibited. Otherwise, the result will be annulled.
You can read which bugs are considered forbidden in the topic Offline Tournament Rules + FAQ.

Exception to the rules for this tournament: in case of a "+5 monsters X" week or "monster X" month, the player has the right not to replay the single week/month transition.

6. It is forbidden: to use cheating programs, codes, or additional software that can change the game structure during the final run.

7. In case of suspicion of a player cheating or other malicious intent while completing the map, it is necessary to make a save before every significant event (e.g., before a battle, before hiring another hero). The result of a player who played dishonestly, or who failed to send their description (saves) on time upon the tournament organizer's request, will be annulled and further participation in tournaments will be impossible. This will also reflect poorly on their reputation.

8. Sequence of actions for participating in the tournament:
8.1. Download save.
8.2. The downloaded save must be placed in the GAMES folder of the installed Heroes III on your computer.
8.3. Load the save and start playing at any time convenient for you. Restarting the game is forbidden, and the map can only be completed from the downloaded starting save. At the same time, do not forget to make intermediate saves (at least daily saves must exist). The tournament organizer may request these.
8.4. After completing up to the last action that results in victory (final battle, capturing a city, taking an artifact, etc.), you must save again.
8.5. A full description of the tournament map is encouraged (optional). If provided, a contest for the best description will be held, and 10 of the very best will take their place of honor in the "Hall of Fame" section!
8.6. Within the time allotted for this tournament, send this save to the tournament organizer (the e-mail address should be specified in the rules of this tournament).
8.7. Wait for the results.

9. The final save should be sent to the organizer's e-mail address.
In the submitted save, all heroes must be dismissed except for the hero performing the last action (the parameters of this specific hero [before performing the winning action] will be counted).
Save name: the save must contain the tournament abbreviation AS, the participant number, and the player Nickname, for example: AS_1_Dirty_Player.gm1.

It is also recommended to leave a message in this thread stating that you have sent the save.
After receiving your save, you will see in the application table that:
save accepted - indicated by bold Nickname.
save counted - indicated by bold italic Nickname.
save not counted - indicated by bold red Nickname.

10. The tournament starts on 10.09.2008 and will last until 21.09.2008 (up to 23:59:59 inclusive Moscow time). Only one final save is accepted from the player.
Results will be published no later than 25.09.2008.
Announcement: the tournament deadline has been extended to 28.09.08 (23:59:59) inclusive.

Good luck!

Huge thanks to Dirty_Player for creating the tournament map and generating the starting save.

Yes, but even the administration's medal seems insignificant... It's just an image, not money... It seems they were just playing for fun... Disrespect towards the participants!!!!! It's very upsetting!

And who told you there wouldn't be a medal?
Since the tournament is official and ranked, the prize will be appropriate. ;)
Why all the panic again?:smile29:
Dirty_Player;198025

But I disagree with that! It was very uncomfortable to play with such heroes :(
I'm curious to know why?
Dirty_Player;198025

I suggest we start deciding on the patch, criteria, etc... because the World Championship is not far off!

We've been waiting for your updated draft of the rules for over a week.

The tournament organizer, vbn, said it!
VDV_forever;198089
Interesting to know why?
Well, if we don't count the graphical issues, which are off-putting, I'll say that I find it very inconvenient to deal with morale! Maybe for you guys who play with one or two players, it's normal, but for us who play with three, it's a completely different game :(
Therefore, I insist on canceling the patch and playing on the classic SOD!
VDV_forever;198089
We've been waiting for your updated rules for over a week.
I can't write the rules until it's decided whether we'll play on the patch or on the classic version, and whether a third criterion is needed! We solve these two questions, and the rules will be ready within the day!!! Let's not make it an obligation and decide through discussion.
If we play on the classic version, then we should limit the morale drops, but we also need to discuss how to do that!

I don't understand, how will the rules differ from the current ones? By removing the third criterion? But the organizer is free to choose the criteria for victory. Or maybe by introducing restrictions on morale? But IMO, morale (luck) that depends on the animation of warriors is a bug! Which should definitely be banned. And then the organizer won't have a headache checking how many times morale and luck could have been used in this battle. Therefore, I don't understand why the organizers don't want to introduce this patch on HP. Maybe because it wasn't their idea? It seems to me that this patch should definitely be used in tournaments, especially in online tournaments. So, what will be the fundamental difference in the rules? Can someone enlighten me?

Can someone enlighten me?
I can! Whether to use a patch or not is a matter of principle! If we're setting rules for the classic version, we decide how many morals, lucks, etc., are allowed!
Kyle;198098
That's why I don't understand why the organizers on HP don't want to introduce this patch.
1. On HP, many people play for their own enjoyment and don't want to bother with all sorts of rules and patches! Even in this tournament, there was an incident where one participant played the tournament without the patch, but admitted it himself and replayed it with the patch! And how can you even determine whether a tournament was played with a patch or not? THERE'S NO WAY! Therefore, introducing a patch will create additional difficulties with verification, and considering that on HP there is a phenomenon like "Mining," where some players play for 500 game days (which, gentlemen, is 18 months, not a little, not a lot!), verification will be a terrible undertaking!
2. The patch is an UNOFFICIAL creation!!!! Who knows what might be found in it? Why should they take such responsibility on themselves? After all, there were glitches and bugs in the first versions! There's no guarantee that they won't reappear?

And also! Why are many players leaving HW and going to HP? Why? Think about it!

If we make rules for classic, then we decide how much morale, luck, etc. is acceptable!

It will be IMPOSSIBLE to check morale/luck rolls on classic!

Each time, the player will have to prove by hook or by crook that they have not broken the rules!

Dirty_Player;198108

1. On HC, many people play for their own pleasure and don't want to bother with all sorts of rules and patches!

Rules are made so that players are on equal footing. The rules currently in effect on HC were invented solely as a red herring! And the tournament organizer will be unable to check luck and morale rolls in battles, just as the player himself will be unable to prove otherwise.
Dirty_Player;198108

Even in this tournament, there was an incident where one participant played the tournament without the patch, but confessed himself and replayed on the patch! And how do you even determine whether a tournament was played on the patch or not? NO WAY!

Elementary! It is enough to conduct one battle and everything becomes clear, since morale and luck rolls are strictly fixed when using the patch!
Dirty_Player;198108

Therefore, by implementing the patch, additional difficulties with verification will arise
Verification becomes easy, and the organizer makes their conclusions regarding the submitted saves objective and unambiguous!
And where do you even get such information, though I have a guess...

1. On HP, many people play for their own enjoyment and don't want to bother their heads with all sorts of rules and patches!
Uh-huh, but keeping track of how many birds were generated this turn — that's not bothering your head? And God forbid one extra bird accidentally appears, then you have to replay the entire battle. That isn't stressful?
It's strange — once patching the game and then not having to think about morale (luck) — that's hard. But in every battle, on every turn, counting all the birds — that's easy?
Dirty_Player;198108
Even in this tournament, there was an incident where one participant played the tournament not on the patch, but admitted it himself and replayed it on the patch! But how can you even tell if a tournament was played on the patch or not? NO WAY! So by introducing the patch, additional difficulties with verification will arise, and considering that on HP a phenomenon like "Mining" is widespread, where some people play 500 game days (and that, gentlemen, is 18 months, no more, no less!), verification becomes a downright terrible thing!
And how do you intend to verify how many birds appeared in some battle? Is that easier?
But checking whether a person played with the patch or not — that's simple. For example, you could request a turn-based final battle (or any other battle) and from that it will be clear whether the person played with the patch or not.
Dirty_Player;198108
2. The patch is an UNOFFICIAL creation!!!! Who knows what might be discovered in it? Why should they take such responsibility upon themselves? After all, there were glitches and bugs in the first versions! Is there any guarantee they won't appear again?
If there are glitches, they will be fixed. I hope the esteemed Monza won't leave us to fend for ourselves.
Dirty_Player;198108
And another thing! Why do many players run from HW to HP? Why? Think about it!
This is quite a normal migration of players; likewise, why do players from other portals come to us?
But I won't deny, HW has certain problems, and at the moment they are trying to resolve them.

Good luck, and a little less pessimism. ;)

Yeah, and counting how many birds there were during this turn – isn’t that overthinking? And God forbid, if accidentally one more bird appears, you’ll have to replay the entire battle. Isn’t that annoying?
It’s immediately clear that I’m arguing with those who haven’t played the third game in a very long time!!!!
It’s not necessary to “count” the birds – that’s just nonsense! If a battle requires one bird to appear, and then the battle is won in any way, then everything is clear! The organizer isn’t completely stupid, and if he has any doubts, he will be able to understand whether a single morale boost is sufficient to achieve the result or not!

For example, I describe a battle: “To achieve the goal, morale must come to the archers on the first turn, and then it will be easily won!”
The organizer, looking at the battle, immediately understands whether this morale will be enough and will not simply repeat the battle 25 times, guessing whether he will succeed or not! And any organizer will be able to assess whether one morale boost is enough!!!!

Kyle;198111
If there are bugs, they will be fixed. I hope that the respected Montza will not leave us to our own devices.
But this is just hedging one’s bets.

Kyle;198111
This is a perfectly normal migration of players, and why are players from other portals coming to us?
I’m not just talking about players, but about top players, such as DmitryAS or Vanechka!

Well, you've already said it all. Here they don't give medals, or they do, but with a delay. Horrrrrible. And there, there's both the arena, and fiefs, and all sorts of artifacts. In short, a whole world where you can live and hide from the external, apparently not too pleasant, world. So there are more people dwelling there, consequently for many it's more enjoyable to hang out there. But personally, I don't give a damn that they didn't tack on a bunch of medals for me.
As for the patch, I'll express my opinion in the relevant thread.

Maybe you were trying to be sarcastic, but the most surprising thing is that you are completely right!!!

No, I wasn't being sarcastic; I was simply stating an obvious fact. I don't judge people based on myself. I'm not interested in such things, but many others are. In such cases, one should follow the majority. That's why I've long advocated for introducing local ranks and currency, but so far, to no avail. The admin, unfortunately, isn't too interested in this.

Well, the "topness" of certain players can be debated, though it's pointless...
The main thing is that migration isn't a one-way street, and it should be noted that settlers from our side stay and sometimes play with us, and don't even leave their clans' walls... but settlers from other resources are increasingly active right here and very often immediately join clans... or rather, they get snatched up (like on a black market) :D
As for the ratio of immigration to emigration, HeroesWorld here is in the black, both in quality and quantity... which is evidenced by an indisputable fact - the rise of tournament and gaming activity on the resource... something you can't say about other resources (maybe this is directly related, or maybe just a coincidence)
P.S. so HeroesWorld can't be intimidated by cries about leaving for another resource... one leaves - three will come ;)
Otherwise it's all demagoguery and sheer double standards.... an unofficial patch, you see, changes the structure, so it must be banned... But TE, it turns out, is official and doesn't touch the structure one bit at all - we allow it and everyone switches :smile08:

Add Radik, yourself, and Perpolken.

Let's be honest:
1. Radik isn't playing because of the patch.
2. Perpolken voted FOR it. ;)

The outside world is WONDERFUL! And the one you speak of with cynicism only complements and enriches reality, nothing more.

We can argue about the "top-tier" status of certain players, although it's pointless...
The main thing is that the migration isn't one-sided, and it should be noted that those who leave still come back to play with us sometimes, and they don't even leave the walls of their clans...
Moreover, some even become Tavern Sages for two months in a row:smile49:.
We can also argue about the value of certain titles, although, perhaps, it's pointless.
:D :D :D
There's just a classic example on this topic:

Thank you, Alex_R, that was very insightful and made my morning:smile42:
