But here, I want to talk not about good books, but not about bad ones either. :)
What books have you started reading but never finished?
I always finish books to the end, no matter how much the authors bore me with their terrible philosophy (there are those who insist a lot). Or even if they're not interesting... but that happens rarely.
But sometimes there are exceptions...
I didn't finish the story of Jean Valjean, for example... although I wanted to... and I still want to.
War and Peace... it's too much :) absolutely uninteresting. And circumstances just turned out that way... and now I don't feel like it at all.
I didn't finish a HUGE encyclopedia about computing machines... it's unclear who it was written for... 1200 pages wasted, all of this could have been described in two words: "turn on the computer."
That's all. :)
P.S. Any post here is IMHO.
P.P.S. Just in case ;)
Except the ones we've made
Regarding fiction, I'll first browse the book, read the annotation, and the table of contents, and then either read it or not even start.
But when it comes to various technical/scientific books, reference books/guides/textbooks/encyclopedias, I'll say that such books are rarely and shouldn't be read from cover to cover. In such books, only the necessary/interesting information is read, which is taken in pieces from anywhere in the book. Although, there have been times when I had to read such books completely in this way, it takes quite a long time, but this method is very effective for learning.
P.S. By the way, Vistrit, I suspect that this is exactly how you should read your

But there are a couple of books, for example, "Warda" and Hitchcock's "The Secret of the Castle of Horrors"... I read them after several attempts... As it turned out, they are excellent and easy-to-read books!!!
And right now, I have a book called "Metro 2033" by Dmitry Glukhovsky "gathering dust" on my phone... and it will probably stay there for a long time...)))
I remember, I couldn't even manage to read "War and Peace"... And, of course, Chernyshevsky's "What Is to Be Done?")).. I wonder, who actually managed to read it?))
I haven't read "War and Peace" or Chernyshevsky, or anything from the school curriculum, not even started:D - I can't stand Russian classics. Although... maybe I'm lying - I read "Peter I" by A. Tolstoy (I was sick, lying around - there was nothing else to read) - I liked it, and after finishing school, probably in my second year of university, I read "The Master and Margarita" by Bulgakov - it was also good.
In general, I read a lot of fiction, but not from the school curriculum:D

By the way, my friend is currently reading his tenth book by the Strugatsky brothers, while I've only read "Roadside Picnic," and it didn't really resonate with me...

The 11th-grade curriculum covers 20th-century literature, which is closer to me, so I will try to be more responsible towards literature lessons this year, maybe something interesting will come up :)
Bow down and hear our cry,
Our earthly rulers falter,
Our people drift and die,
The walls of gold entomb us,
The swords of scorn divide,
Take not thy thunder from us,
Take away our pride.

What books did you start reading but never finished?
Regarding fiction, I'll first flip through the book, read the synopsis, and the table of contents, and then either read it or not even start it.
And regarding various technical/scientific books, reference books/manuals/textbooks/encyclopedias, I'll say that such books are rarely and shouldn't be
read from cover to cover.
Among my recently read books are a physics textbook and the TV manual.
P.S. To prove my point, I've attached this book in an archive.
Но поскольку я нищий,
у меня лишь есть мечты.
Я разостлал свои мечты пред вашими ногами.
Ступайте бережно, ибо вы ступаете по моим мечтам.
P.S. But I did manage to read Tolstoy's "War and Peace". Because I was in the hospital, where I had a wonderful alternative: read Tolstoy or watch "Dom-2" (seriously). Do I need to comment?)))

In general, I like Dostoevsky and Tolstoy among all Russian classics.
Of recent foreign works, I've read "I'm Not Scared" by Niccolò Ammaniti (a film based on this book was released in 2002) and "Lust for Life" by Irving Stone. Among Russian works, I've read "And Quiet Flows the Don" by Sholokhov and "Peter the Great" by A.N. Tolstoy.
I also suggest that we post different (interesting) books here!
War and Peace... it's completely uninteresting. And the circumstances just weren't right... and now I have absolutely no desire to read it.

By the way, "The Master and Margarita" is much more difficult to read at the beginning than "War and Peace." I skipped dozens of pages. But by the middle, I was reading it with great enthusiasm, without stopping.
I also suggest posting various (interesting) books here!
Do you need comments?)))
P.S. "вылаживать" is spelled without the letters "ж" and "и". But with the letters "к", "д", and "ы". ;)
