I didn't finish the story of Jean Valjean, for example... although I wanted to... and I still want to.
War and Peace... it's too much :) absolutely uninteresting. And circumstances just turned out that way... and now I don't feel like it at all.
I didn't finish a HUGE encyclopedia about computing machines... it's unclear who it was written for... 1200 pages wasted, all of this could have been described in two words: "turn on the computer."

Regarding fiction, I'll first browse the book, read the annotation, and the table of contents, and then either read it or not even start.

But when it comes to various technical/scientific books, reference books/guides/textbooks/encyclopedias, I'll say that such books are rarely and shouldn't be read from cover to cover. In such books, only the necessary/interesting information is read, which is taken in pieces from anywhere in the book. Although, there have been times when I had to read such books completely in this way, it takes quite a long time, but this method is very effective for learning.

I haven't read "War and Peace" or Chernyshevsky, or anything from the school curriculum, not even started:D - I can't stand Russian classics. Although... maybe I'm lying - I read "Peter I" by A. Tolstoy (I was sick, lying around - there was nothing else to read) - I liked it, and after finishing school, probably in my second year of university, I read "The Master and Margarita" by Bulgakov - it was also good.

I only read (and therefore finish reading) what interests me. If a book is interesting, I can spend the whole day with it... Right now, I'm not reading anything; I'm writing in my diary. A diary is a way to talk to yourself. In my diary, I write down all my thoughts, everything I think about this world.

Among the books I've read recently are a physics textbook and the instruction manual for my TV :) But in general, I prefer reading poetry, and I also enjoy writing it. As for prose, I recently read Goethe's "The Sorrows of Young Werther," and, as you might expect, it ended with suicide.
By the way, my friend is currently reading his tenth book by the Strugatsky brothers, while I've only read "Roadside Picnic," and it didn't really resonate with me...

War and Peace is one of the few works I read in 10th grade. My opinion is that the book is good, but there are more interesting works, and not so long ones :) Although, the main incentive to read it (or at least, to start reading it, because after 100-200 pages of text, it somehow went on its own and even by my own desire) was that my father had read it, and I thought: "What am I worse at?" :). And most other works from the school curriculum, I often read only up to the middle. I don't like classics... And literature lessons forced me, and still force me... Until the age of 12, I sometimes didn't finish reading some books, but now I try to finish any started work to the end.

The 11th-grade curriculum covers 20th-century literature, which is closer to me, so I will try to be more responsible towards literature lessons this year, maybe something interesting will come up :)

I couldn't get past the first book of "Dune" X_x. I also couldn't get through Jordan (The Dragon Reborn or something like that... like, The Eye of the World, The Great Hunt, and so on... I read the first volume of "War and Peace" in the waiting room of the Chelyabinsk train station – I spent 12 hours there! Believe me, there couldn't have been a better way to pass the time (except maybe grabbing a snack or taking a bathroom break).
In general, I like Dostoevsky and Tolstoy among all Russian classics.
Of recent foreign works, I've read "I'm Not Scared" by Niccolò Ammaniti (a film based on this book was released in 2002) and "Lust for Life" by Irving Stone. Among Russian works, I've read "And Quiet Flows the Don" by Sholokhov and "Peter the Great" by A.N. Tolstoy.

War and Peace... it's completely uninteresting. And the circumstances just weren't right... and now I have absolutely no desire to read it.

But I enjoyed reading it; the author has many interesting ideas. The only thing that was tedious was reading the descriptions of social life and balls. I like Andrei the most among the characters.
