Dear fans of Heroes of Might and Magic II. Continuing the wonderful tradition of uniting heroic internet resources, we invite you to play online as a friendly community!

Today, April 17, 2008, registration opens for this grand joint online tournament! Registration will last until April 24, 2008, 15.00 Moscow time, after which the tournament will begin on April 25!

The game rules are standard. By mutual agreement, players may discuss them before a match and change them at their own discretion, but we do not recommend abusing this. You can find the basic rule model here.

- A rule has been added prohibiting the picking up and use of Anduran's Armor as a single random artifact. Individual components and the assembled armor are permitted.

Tournament Regulations:

The tournament is conducted in 2 stages: 1st - group stage, 2nd - semifinals and final using an Olympic system with a battle for 3rd-4th place!

After registration, players are randomly split into 2 (or 4 - depending on the number of participants) groups, where they play in a round-robin format, meaning everyone plays everyone else, fighting to advance from the group. Two players advance from each group to compete in same-stage matches for the semifinals and final. Other players from the group play against each other according to their ranking; for example, the 3rd place finisher in Group A plays the 3rd place finisher from Group B, and so on. After this, a final tournament table is compiled based on the games played.

Tournament deadlines are not fixed; in case of delays, judges have the right to set them for specific pairs individually, but no less than 2 weeks. In the group stage, matches are best-of-1 between opponents; in the semifinals and final, best-of-2. Players must report technical problems and the inability to start a game with any opponent to the judges via ICQ (recommended), private messages, or email.

In case of technical problems and the inability to play, judges will review the situation and make a decision based on player notifications. A player who does not maintain contact and fails to explain the reasons for a long period may be given a technical defeat, up to disqualification from the tournament!

Players may voluntarily agree to a draw; in this case, they are awarded 1 point each for the game played, 2 points for a win, and 0.5 for a loss. If players cannot finish a match and do not agree to a draw, they must provide the judges with the save file of the last day, on the basis of which the judges have the right to make a decision on the match!

List of maps designated for the tournament:

*- Players may independently agree on playing any map, but if no agreement is reached, maps are chosen in turn from the following (recommended) list:

1. Slugfest
2. Hot Spot
3. Teleporters_HL
4. Beltway_HL

There is activity, but no connection:mad:. Yesterday, Lovelass and I tried to connect for an hour, but it didn't work.
If it doesn't work through Hamachi, you can also try this.

I'm still celebrating, so I'm not very active ;-), but I have a vacation until May 16th, so I will definitely play with everyone as soon as I rest! :-)

You can also try to familiarize yourself with the Hamachi manual on the forum; it helped some people.

Or, try installing an older version of Hamachi – sometimes version 1.0 doesn't work, but version 0.9.9.9 does.

The loot was poor. In the tavern, there was a Necromancer, followed by a Warlock and another Necromancer; the artifact offering lightning resistance didn't help (Wisdom was needed), and the chest gave an artifact offering resistance to Necromancy... On turn 112, the opponent came out and stood next to me. On turn 113, I attacked. 8 Paladins quickly turned into five, but they won the game.
Thanks for the game.

Well, that didn't work out. And I don't even understand why. I don't think I made any major mistakes...
Either my opponent was much stronger, or I was much weaker. Oh well, I guess I shouldn't have expected too much...
Thanks for the game!

Lovelass (yellow, Warlock, Barbarian, Haven) def old_ufo (orange, Warlock, Warlock) Birthday Cake, 1-3-4

For this map, the 1-3-4 turn order is the start of the game. It allows for the early development of dragons (around week two) and the establishment of complete control over the mines. The key turned out to be the gold mine, which, in addition to itself, was also guarded by Boots of the Nomad. After I took the gold mine, losing one dragon and passing the turn, my opponent surrendered. It turned out that the opponent had focused his dragons on guarding the mines, where, in addition to the gold mine, there were also crystal mines.

Thank you for the game.

"Confirmed. I made some mistakes and paid the price. First, I didn't set compatibility with Windows 95, the game crashed, and there was a Barbarian among the 3 heroes. When I loaded the Barbarian's save, he wasn't there, and I foolishly spent a lot of money trying to dig him up or find a Knight. The result: 5 heroes: 2 Necromancers, 2 Warlocks, and a Wizard. Because of that, I didn't have enough money for Hydras and Minotaurs, so I went to clear the Golden Mine with Gargoyles and 2 Archdevils. But it turned out there were 3 Archdevils + 4 Devils (I got it wrong in the chat). And I lost.
Thanks for the game!"

Well, I finally started the tournament! :-)

Dust (yellow, Knight, Knight) def Kama (green, Host, Barbarian, Knight), Good vs Evil HL, 1-4-2

First of all, I'm very glad that I got to play on this old, good map! I haven't played on it for about 7 years, I think! :-)

Here's a brief description. In the beginning, I built Paladins. They should always be built first, and there shouldn't be any problems with that. I didn't build Horsemen because I decided to build Paladins on the second day and in the nearby Knight Castle, which spawned nearby, and that's what happened. I saved wood, laid out the castle in a 1-2-1 formation, and built a level 6 building on 1-2-7, resulting in 16 upgraded Paladins on 1-3-1. There's plenty of money for this, especially on day 1 - Statue +250 ;-). In general, on this map, the Knight is one of the strongest factions; it seems that only they can confidently build level 6 troops on the first day and dominate with them. I remember this map precisely because of this, because even against the Warlock, you can play as a Knight and be quite successful! In general, the map is great, I'm very glad that I played on it, I remembered my childhood, as I said :-)! Rushing with Knights is the main strategy, and nothing can be better. In this game, however, the rush didn't quite work out, or rather, it was delayed because of the development of the second castle. In case of failure, there are also options for other factions ;-)), you need to have a developed village nearby: a Warlock village, a Nar village, or, as in my case, a Knight village, which is probably the best option! ...damn, I'm getting carried away again... no, I won't elaborate and go into detail about my vision of the strategy on this wonderful map; I promised to describe it briefly. :-)) I hope that players will try this "area" themselves and find options that have long been gathering dust in my head. :-)

After upgrading 16 Paladins, the plan was, of course, to quickly capture the Warlock. This was supposed to happen on 1-3-7, so that the dragon population that was about to appear for the opponent wouldn't interfere with the outcome of the game. In this campaign, however, this didn't quite succeed. In addition to the fact that Kama was the Host, which gave him a day's strategic advantage, my Knight (whom I chose from the Barbarian and another Knight) didn't advance Logistics after leveling it up to level 1! Because of this, and maybe not only ;-), I was able to attack the Warlock's castle, where GG Sergei was defending (who had already repainted the built dragons red), only on 1-4-2. As a result, the following armies lined up in front of the castle:

Dust - 7-4-2-3, 70 Archers, 20 Swordsmen and Pikemen, 16 Paladins, and 50 Butterflies. Luck +2 (basic and fountain) and max. morale, no artillery. Magic: Haste, Slow, Heal.

Kama - 4-8-4-3, 13 Trolls, 16 Wolves, 4 Red Dragons, 10 Ogres, and 30 Orcs. Artifact: Boots (!!!), Magic in battle: Bolt for 100 HP and SoldRay for 80.

In principle, I should have won this battle in any case, even without locking the hero in the castle and without bringing in new reinforcements from my two castles. But still, after the battle, I was left with only 8 Paladins. The rest were crushed by magic and Dragons, and the Paladins also took damage from the Bolt :-)

What I liked in the game: In the battle, the Leadership expert skill worked great, a couple of times on the Archers. What I didn't like: 1) My Knight stubbornly didn't level up Logistics, and Kama had Boots.

That's all, thanks again for the game!

Qwerty (purple, Necro, Barbarian) def Kama (orange, Warlock, Knight, host) Sluffest (Hot Battle), 144.
A long game for this map, in real time it was over 4 hours ... Start: Barbarian in the tavern, Slow and Stone Skin in the guild, artifact +1 attack (only given to the Leader though). On the fourth hero I dug up a Knight and took the artifact (Charisma had an effect:)))
I poured a piña colada, yasnikov said that doping control needed to be introduced and I should be disqualified.
The first days I played by the template, though I did get 6 attack.
Meanwhile ...
Kama delivered a super game up to a certain point. The opponent will tell the details himself, I'll only mention some moments. On day 3, a sped-up Knight made a beautiful signature move — I call it "Kama's maneuver." He takes the Wizard's castle and the hero MANAGES to get inside. The next day, the Wizard storms the castle and loses. So by the start of day 4, the opponent had 2 castles. I got really down and made some kind of left-field move. As a result, the opponent destroyed two of my scout heroes. By day 5, it all looked like a loss. But actually, this wasn't even my worst position in the game ...
On day 5, that fine Knight mopped up all of the opponent's backup army. There were hydras, about 18 centaurs, and something like griffins. Meanwhile, on day 117 I captured the Sorceress's castle and killed her only hero with no losses at all. Didn't place any Liches though. On day 121 I went for the Wizard's castle. On the way, I lost a dragon to hit-and-run. I reached the castle and attacked. And there were 2 dragons there. Get it? BOTH!!!!!! So on day 3, Kama took the castle and completely wiped out the Wizard with a full army, without losing a single dragon!!!! Then the opponent made a non-standard move — after destroying my dragons, he retreated. The next turn, I went forward with the remnants of my army. And the opponent hired himself out again at his starting castle and went after my hero. At that moment I made my first decent move of the game. I traded resources and gold at three marketplaces. And I captured the ruby mine (so with the trade I had 9). The opponent attacks, kills two vampires, I retreat. Then the opponent for some reason doesn't go for the Wizard castle but goes to capture the Knight's castle. After that, he also set a trap — he moved out a scout hero with a Gargoyle, and if I hadn't defended the Wizard's castle somehow, he would have taken it for free. I saw it.
The opponent captured the gold mine, captured the Knight's castle. The Knight captured the Sorceress's castle that was mine before.
On day 127, I managed to buy back the hero with an army who had fled two days earlier ...
On the third week, the opponent turned around and went for the Wizard's castle, which belonged to me until then. Took it, of course.
But! The thing is, after the opponent fled during the first assault on the Wizard's castle, I devised a plan. Remember about trading resources and capturing the ruby mine? In short, around day 134 I upgraded the Vampires (Liches never built), bought everything out (Mummies upgraded too) and boldly went to storm the Wizard's castle. On day 137, I set myself up for a hit-and-run, but it gave the opponent nothing. On day 141, I attack:
8-3-2-2, Haste, Slow, Stone Skin, Steel, Archery, 23 Lord Vampires, 11 Liches I think, 26 upgraded Mummies, 6 Skeletons, 36 upgraded Zombies.
I don't remember the stats, something like 4-8-3-4, Archery, 2 Green Dragons, 12 Mages, 8 Pigs, about 12 upgraded Golems, 15 Roccs.
15 Vampire Lords remained, 25 Mummies, 35 Zombies (the Skeletons played excellently, taking the retaliation from 2 dragons. Those responded with luck:)))
The opponent had impressive luck and morale.
After that, a march to the opponent's starting castle (by then the computer had taken his Knight castle back) and there it's all over.
For most of the game, the opponent played stronger. At a certain point, he had an overwhelming position.
Thanks for the game!!

Qwerty (purple, Necropolis, Knight) def. Dust (blue, Castle, Knight, Knight, Host) 144, Slugfest. Well, what can I say? First of all, huge thanks to Kamo for the previous game – if it weren't for the excellent game and the subtle maneuvers I saw in the previous match, there wouldn't have been this game. Plus, Gunnar wished me victory. Now, let's get down to business. At first, I was amazed by the opponent's class. To be honest, after the first few days, I thought it was all over. In short, the artifact at the Castle is on the left, Dust stole a bunch of gold from me using the Host, and didn't place any Liches on the first level. Then I started playing riskily and boldly, and as a result, on day 117, I destroyed the Barbarian. I lost 4 Vampires and about 7 Liches in the process. On the second level, I could have captured the Evil Warlock, but instead, I drove away Dust's hero, who had been raiding my lower mines. After that, Dust hunkered down, gathering troops (he placed Knights on the first level and knew that I couldn't place Liches). I moved to the center and stood there. I went around all the upgrade locations. My Barbarian Castle was stormed several times – thanks to the Trolls, I held out. On day 127, I placed Liches, and on day 137, I placed Bone Dragons. On day 141, I attacked (without any reinforcements). Something like 5-4-3-3, Lightning Bolt, Ice Bolt, 30 mana, 3 cooldown, about 11 Liches, 24 Vampires, a lot of Zombies (around 30+), 45 Mummies. Against me, it was something like 2-4-2-2, Bloodlust, and something else, 67 Archers, 23 Cavalry (though), 20 Swordsmen, 20 Pikemen, 6 Paladins. We fought for a bit, and I retreated without Dragons, Vampires, and almost without Liches. After that, the computer attacked the opponent. And I bought myself 4 Bone Dragons, a few more Liches, and some Trolls, and reached 144 (just like in the previous game). Thanks for the game!

Well, what can I say, it was exactly as it was! :-) If in the first few days it showed something resembling a game (although there weren't any fast heroes at the beginning - there were 3 knights), then it completely fizzled out. The anticipation of hockey led to an overwhelming laziness and indifference to the game (the map still doesn't grab me; if the desire is gone, you can't force me to play), and I just skipped turns. Besides, I had to restart the laptop several times, which was constantly lagging during the game, "fueling" the already existing desire to finish it as quickly as possible. ;-) There wasn't enough money; you can't capture castles with Paladins if you don't want to lose half of their natives and archers. I needed to come up with some strategic plan, but... in short, the desire to come up with something completely disappeared, and as a result, I suffered a well-deserved defeat. But this in no way diminishes Qwerty's merit, who showed a good game. It's clear that his experience playing on this map wasn't in vain; everything he did was timely and appropriate, so the result is justified. P.S. The main thing is that Russia is the World Champion! Hooray! :P

I didn't notice it right away. Points in the tournament are awarded according to the following system:
Players can voluntarily agree to a draw; in this case, they are awarded 1 point for the game played, 2 points for a win, and 0.5 points for a loss. If players cannot finish the game and do not agree to a draw, they must provide the judges with a save file from the last day, based on which the judges have the right to make a decision on the game!

old_ufo: "old_ufo (blue, host, Necromancer, Barbarian) def Freza (green, Necromancer, Necromancer), Hot spot, 2-1-4 The start was good - 3 Warlocks with Gargoyles, then a Barbarian. All mines, except for two (thieves and peasants), were guarded by Archers. But Gargoyles + Centaurs + Skeletons successfully dealt with them. However, I made one mistake, and the Archers shot down all the Centaurs and almost all the Skeletons. In the first week, I placed Vampires, and in the second, Dragons. I got lucky with guarding the passage - there were Golems, and then Ogres. I went to break through, buying 3 Colossus. And I ran into a Fairy with Coldreams, Arch Druids, and High Elves. 2 Liches and 2 Colossi returned to the netherworld. But, in return, I built up my Castle (level 3 magic, only Phoenixes are missing from the troops) and a gold mine. I'm building a chain for transferring Colossi, and at the same time, I'm breaking through the Archmages on the passage to my opponent (he wasn't lucky there), and I capture the gold mine. Below is my opponent's main Castle. I don't want to fight until the next week, so I retreat, and I place a Warlock with 5 Arch Druids and a Coldream on the mine. But when my opponent reached it, the first turn of Nomads + Wave of Death didn't allow me to cast spells. With the arrival of the new week, I deliver Liches, Zombies, Vampires, and Colossi, I buy 4 Phoenixes, and I attack in 2 days. I have 8 Colossi, 4 Phoenixes, 12 Liches, 14 Vampires, 40 Grand Zombies, and a Barbarian 9-5-2-1. My opponent has 3 Colossi, 120 Skeletons, 16 Nomads, 5 Vampires, 5 Grand Zombies, and a Necromancer 3-2-4-5. I lost 2 Colossi, and after the battle, my opponent surrendered. Thank you for the game!" Freza: "Confirmed. At the start, I didn't get any combat units, only Necromancers and Wizards. Almost everywhere in the mines, there were Archers, and about 20 Archers on the resource nodes. It's impossible to get the free resources. As a result, I got Vampires in the second week and Colossi in the third. Perhaps there was a chance to win if I had gone up to the Fairy instead of to my own Necromancer Castle."

PPRReeeDDSS (necromancer, necromancer) defeated MikeHP (sorceress, sorceress, host), 136, SpellCaster. (1 game)
I figured that the sorceress would be faster, and the necromancer would be more powerful – roughly equal. I suggested this pairing, and Mike said he doesn't like playing as a necromancer. So, we agreed on that. I was initially planning to focus on developing the necromancer to have a skeleton support, but we quickly found a couple of log huts. I didn't bother with the gold mine because it was far away and in a swamp, and instead, I headed straight for the center with a Knight, skeletons, and gargoyles. There, I caught the opponent's hero with a Phoenix and 7 unicorns; he bought his way out. The Warlock on gargoyles revealed the map, and it turned out that he was very close to the castle. The Knights were placed on the first hut, so I decided to play it safe. On turn 127, I took the Warlock, and during the respec, I gathered artifacts (+3 attack, +2 magic). Then, I bought some more units, combined the forces, and went to attack. On turn 136, Mike surrendered in the middle of his turn – he didn't have a good start, and capturing the purple hut only gave him 1 artifact (and that one is mine anyway, because I took it from the chest on the first hut and dismissed the hero as soon as possible).
Thanks for the game.
P.S. The map is quite interesting, and I hope we can play it again sometime with a more balanced starting position.
