Well, obviously, GIMP is better. But not everyone needs it. I used to use Paint to add text to images and for other simple tasks. Yesterday, I installed Paint.NET – it's something in between Paint and GIMP, and I'm getting the hang of it.

Hmm... I work professionally with Photoshop, but I still love and use Paint... for example, to save a screenshot or to sketch on a tablet, just for fun... Paint is a universal tool! It even has a transparent background... I still have some of my drawings from back then, when I had a small, old computer with a tiny display, and I couldn't even dream of Photoshop... it was around 2001, I think, so I was about 14 years old... this is what I used to create... :)

P.S. I'm teaching my friend's daughter how to use a computer - she's little and wants to draw, so Photoshop is too complicated for her right now, but she enjoys drawing in Paint and does it very well... for a beginner, it's a treasure... :)

I work more in this direction... and if you want to improve your technique, I highly recommend buying Martin Evening's reference book - it describes all the effects and many techniques... no courses can provide this... I've also been buying the magazine "Photo MASTERSKAYA" for a couple of years... it comes with a disc - programs, video tutorials, brushes, and other Photoshop extras... the contests there are good... I like these works by El Magnus (the last work by Vereniki)... they make your blood run cold and you want to indulge in some dreams...
