FOURTH OFFLINE HEROES OF MIGHT AND MAGIC I "CAMPAIGN" TOURNAMENT

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. To participate in the fourth offline Heroes of Might and Magic I "CAMPAIGN" tournament, you must register on our website www.heroesworld.ru and submit an application in this thread.

2. The tournament is conducted using the Russian version of Heroes of Might and Magic I from Buka. Saves will be generated on the Russian version 1.1.

3. The tournament will consist of 8 stages, as that is how many campaign maps were created by the developers. The goal of the game is to defeat the enemy or fulfill a specific condition within each individual scenario.
- Upon completion of each stage, a player rating will be awarded, which will accumulate with each subsequent successful completion of a stage.
- A reward will be given for each stage (in the profile and under the avatar), thereby providing an incentive for the player at every stage.
- The overall winner of this tournament (across all stages) receives a prize in the form of a trophy (in the profile and under the avatar).
- This is a rated tournament, so you should start earning your rating now, as the highest-rated player on our site at the end of the year will receive a separate prize in the form of an absolute winner's trophy, as well as an honorary certificate sent by mail.

4. Results will be evaluated primarily based on minimum time. If several players have identical completion times, the best will be determined by the sum of primary skills (attack, defense, magic, knowledge) INCLUDING EQUIPPED ARTIFACTS of the player's best hero; if a favorite is still not determined, then by the amount of mercury.

5. The list of prohibitions can be read in the thread:

Offline Tournament Rules + FAQ!, or on the website www.handbookhmm1.narod.ru

6. Send saves to the email address VDV_forever@BK.RU

The submitted save must contain the tournament number (4), the stage number, the participant's number in the application table, the stage abbreviation (for the first stage P - PROLOGUE), and the player's Nick.

Example:

4_1_1_П_VDV_forever.CGM

7. In case a player is suspected of cheating or other malicious intent while completing the map, it is necessary to save every game day, as well as before and immediately after a difficult battle.
In such an event (detection of cheating), the player will be required to send additional saves and provide a walkthrough description to the tournament organizer to determine whether the play was fair or unfair.
The result of a player who played unfairly will be nullified, and their further participation in tournaments will be impossible. This will also reflect poorly on their reputation.

8. Discussion of the tournament during its progress is FORBIDDEN!!!
(Players who violate this rule automatically disqualify themselves from playing the tournament; their results will not be counted and will be annulled).

9. The first stage of the tournament starts on October 6 and lasts until October 20 (inclusive!) 2007. Results will be announced on October 23, 2007.

The second stage of the tournament starts on October 23 and lasts until November 11 (inclusive!) 2007. Results will be announced on November 14, 2007.

The third stage of the tournament starts on November 26 and lasts until December 10 (inclusive!) 2007. Results will be announced on December 14, 2007.

The fourth stage of the tournament starts on January 12, 2008, and lasts until February 1 (inclusive!) 2008. Results will be announced on February 4, 2008.

The fifth stage of the tournament starts on March 13, 2008, and lasts until April 13 (inclusive!) 2008. Results will be announced on April 16, 2008.

The sixth stage of the tournament starts on May 26, 2008, and lasts until June 20 (inclusive!) 2008. Results will be announced on June 23, 2008.

The seventh stage of the tournament starts on July 7, 2008, and lasts until August 7 (inclusive!) 2008. Results will be announced on August 13, 2008.
Note - this stage of the tournament is also conducted as part of the annual Van Kanigem tournament (Stage 6 of the Van Kanigem tournament).

The eighth stage of the tournament starts on September 20, 2008, and lasts until October 20 (inclusive!) 2008. Results will be announced on October 23, 2008.

10. After your save is received, you will see in the application table that:

save accepted - indicated by a bold Nick.
save counted - indicated by a blue bold Nick.
save not counted - indicated by a red bold Nick.
This list can be expanded by new participants!
We invite everyone to participate in the tournament!

Saves will only be considered for players who are in this table, so submit your applications IN ADVANCE!!!

Yes, we're expecting results from Kamikaze :D
I'm currently finalizing some details.

I have a few questions:
- I have a hero with an artifact in the tavern; can I buy him? (I didn't kill him)
- I have a hero in the tavern who was defeated by my city; can I buy him? (he also has an artifact)

I have some questions:
- I have a hero with an artifact in the tavern; can I buy him? (I didn't kill him).

Therefore, this is a companion hero who may have lost it during a battle with a neutral creature.
See the topic: Rules for offline Tournaments + FAQ!
point No. 1.4.1.
1.4.1. Buying back your dismissed heroes on the same day (i.e., using the "dismissal-buyback" trick);
it is also not allowed to buy heroes who died in battle, whether they are yours or someone else's!(do not confuse them with those who fled)!
I highlighted what you need in red...

Let's look at the same point... ;)

I agree with the second point, but not entirely with the first! He could have escaped during a battle with a neutral creature, or bribed his way out during a battle with another computer-controlled faction.

Added 2 minutes later
and... in general, I think that when a hero "dies," he loses his artifacts. Am I right?

Based on daily saves, you can determine with 99% certainty whether there were clashes between AI factions!
In Heroes 1, an artifact is only lost if the hero falls in battle against another hero.
Want to collect more artifacts in one place? :D

Let's examine this quote:
1.4.1. You cannot buy back your dismissed heroes on the same day (i.e., use the "dismiss-buy back" tactic);
you also cannot buy heroes who died in battle, whether they are your own or your opponent's (do not confuse this with heroes who fled)!
The phrase that confuses you is: "(do not confuse this with heroes who fled)!"
However, this phrase refers to buying back your own hero who fled. Buying back any enemy hero is prohibited.
Therefore, this phrase can be broken down into several points:
  • Buying back your own hero who died is prohibited.
  • Buying back your own hero who fled is allowed.
  • Buying back an enemy hero who died is prohibited.
  • Buying back an enemy hero who fled is prohibited.
I hope I explained it clearly. :)

Good luck!

stop... stop... stop!
This map requires a lot of heroes. I might not even know who among them were the ones that escaped/were killed! Okay, let's do this: I simply won't transfer the artifacts. Besides, what difference does it make? I use them to move around the map... it's very important that no problems arise later.

Heh... well, actually, I wouldn't mind! ;)

Added 3 minutes later
and besides, I'm just noticing now that half of the heroes I used during the game were initially with the AI... I didn't even know that the AI lost them during the game!!!

If they are only used for running around, then in that sense, the rule is stupid (it just complicates things)... but a rule is a rule - it's better not to tempt fate...
And how to determine if a hero is used or not - I'll tell you...
1. A new hero always has less than 100 experience points.
2. An empty spellbook for the Sorceress and the Wizard... the Barbarian and the Knight don't have one at all.
3. No artifacts and no additional parameters.
There's a 1-5% chance that the computer might have discarded a hero - while leaving him "clean" in all 3 points.

The problem is that I won't have time to replay the map... maybe it's not worth it because of such minor issues (like having to check each hero before buying them on the used market – that's just ridiculous!!!).
After all, nothing has changed :)

This was discussed somewhere before (unfortunately, I can't find where), but it said that a player is not allowed to buy an enemy hero if the hero is not level 1 or has artifacts.

But you can, of course, leave it as is and hope that VDV_forever accepts your save...

what do you mean you didn't know? ... didn't you remember the faces of those you killed or who died on their own? ...
Or are you reviewing the daily logs with a complete map overview?

This was discussed where VDV was creating the physics engine for Heroes 1.

A player should not be allowed to buy an enemy hero if the hero is not level 1 or has artifacts.
That makes sense; if the computer levels up heroes, and then I beat them and get leveled-up heroes to attack neutral creatures... I agree.
But all my heroes are level 1 when I buy them; they were previously on the map.

Or are you looking at daily saves with the entire map revealed?
Exactly, that's why I, for example, didn't know that: X-player lost Y-hero on Z-day.

I wouldn't get so worked up about it, otherwise the meaning of the phrase could be interpreted as the rules are nonsense.
But the fact that you started buying such heroes early in the game and have to replay so much that you won't have time - that's sad :(

Later, you'll share how it's done – then checking for compliance with the aforementioned rule becomes 100% accurate...

Heroes are forcibly given only on the first day of the game or at the beginning of a save – after that, it's random – which needs to be controlled to ensure compliance with rule 1.4.

why wait... I can simulate it now.
On the first day (the map is only partially revealed), the Knights, who are out of sight of my heroes, lose in a battle against Dimitri's fairies (he consequently gains 0 experience). How can I determine, without revealing the map with code, whether a hero participated in the battle?
