Since the "Samurai's Tenacity" campaign is participating in the best campaign tournament of 2022, I'll leave my review.
The campaign is interesting and has a very beautiful design. The campaign has several features:
1) It uses a mod for the Naga city, which, I agree, is quite unusual!
2) The campaign includes many models transferred from Dark Messiah, Heroes 6, and Heroes 7. Moreover, all of this is implemented at a high level.
3) The NCF mod is used, which adds a lot of variety!
4) I noticed that during the playthrough, music from Might & Magic: Heroes 6, composed by Rob King, Paul Romero, and Jason Graves, is sometimes played, and sometimes a musical composition from Risen 2: Dark Waters, composed by Tilman Sillescu, is played. I am especially grateful to the author for this.
5) The campaign can be completed entirely with a Hero. To date, there are 2 known different ways to complete it:
1) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnA3AjwtTkxrDR8FZGnRgM3RX19F5bs702) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6ppQdO2OGcSince the campaign incorporates mods such as NCF, the Naga mod, and some visual mods, there are sometimes bugs during the game. In particular:
- In the first mission, Sorey arrives at the tavern when he is killed by a lich (I think this should be fixed).
- In the first mission, after defeating Yolsir, the hero levels up, but after that, the game freezes, and the background music plays, but the hero cannot move. Perhaps this is a conflict related to the music files transferred from other games, but I may be wrong.
- The first sea elf druid for some reason does not attack the city. It would be good to fix this.
- In the second mission, the game sometimes crashes when approaching the octopuses (krakens) on the Plateau.
- It would be nice to place a mentor in the second mission.
- In the third mission, there are not enough indicators and hints. It is not immediately clear where the beginning is and where the end is.
- In the fourth mission, when completing the dragons' quest to clear the cities of the undead, the building with the dragons does not appear.
I hope the author will find the time and desire to fix the above bugs.
Despite some balance issues, overall, the campaign is special and unique, with a good plot that takes into account the lore of Heroes 5 and Dark Messiah, a brilliant use of excellent mods, good scripts, and a decent implementation of interesting ideas. Therefore, I give it a high rating.
