Posts from What is more important: luck or fighting spirit?
There's no need to argue – just choose both skills, and that's it. Besides, the game allows for it (I personally do it that way). And you also forgot about their simultaneous effect (I remember it being like that with the High Elves: double luck + morale, then double luck again).
Well, you're quite the optimist, I'd say, a bit of a dreamer. Or are you confusing this with the topic of 5 heroes? Even with morale and luck at +3, the probability of the event you described in Heroes of Might and Magic III is approximately 0.000029.
+1 morale/luck gives a slightly more than 4% chance of it occurring, at least that's what is written in the physics guide, and it agrees with practice. But negative morale occurs more often than it is written, about 1.5 times more often. In general (except for Necropolis), Leadership is significantly better than Luck, both in terms of additional damage and in terms of tactical advantages. But both skills are only taken due to inevitability. For each race, there are 8 other more useful skills.
I absolutely agree. I only take one of these skills due to inevitability – as in the described case (either this or that), or if the choice is Keen Eye/Leadership (Luck). The skills are not useless – no. It's just that, as already mentioned, any other skill, except for Keen Eye or Learning, will look more useful. This is purely my opinion. Fireball +1Fireball;121304
The probability of the event you described in the third game is approximately 0.000029.
Isn't that right? +1 morale and +1 luck – both have a 10% chance of appearing, and 2+ has a 20% chance, respectively.
I missed a "not" there... :) Of course, they are equal. Actually, I was just pointing out that someone said that Luck appears less often.
However, my data is slightly different:
4.2% for ±1; 8.3% for ±2, and 12.5% for ±3.

If we believe this
4.2% for ±1; 8.3% for ±2 and 12.5% for ±3..
then we get 0.125**5=0.000031, which is clearly better :D
In the third game, leadership is probably more important; luck doesn't feel as impactful. That's just my opinion, I don't like it there. And in the fifth game, I take luck – it's a very strong asset in battle. And leadership isn't as noticeable there. In my opinion, in the third game, taking only one of these two skills just clutters up your skill slots.

In general, Leadership is a good skill, and I think you can get lucky on the map without any problems. But overall, I wouldn't pick any of these skills if there's something better available. Only for Diplomats is Leadership REALLY useful. The others can easily do without it. And without the "Luck" skill, even more so ;) And if you can do without it, then I'll take something else.

I'll take Leadership, and here's why: Luck only increases the base damage, meaning it ignores the Attack and Ranged Attack skills if the hero has them. Morale, on the other hand, doesn't ignore these skills. Also, Leadership allows for more flexible use of the additional damage gained from Morale. I'll only take Luck if the army already has +3 Morale without the Leadership skill.

Undead simply won't have a choice between Luck and Leadership. They never get the Leadership skill.
In my opinion, Luck is more useful because: 1. Morale is easier to level up. 2. As you said, Luck only increases the base damage (where did you get that from? but okay, never mind). Even if that's true, the difference will be small – just an extra 100 damage. But what is that? Essentially, nothing. 3. With Luck, you can kill in one hit. Let's imagine a situation (roughly): 5 Archangels attack 14 Mighty Gorgons. With Luck, they kill them. With Morale, 2 Gorgons remain. The Gorgons retaliate – Deadly Gaze – 1 Archangel dies. The Archangels' turn. It's not a good outcome. And this is just the simplest example.
Not necessarily. Let's imagine a different situation: you have some kind of unit, and against you are two units of archers who shoot very well. You attack one and kill them, or if you're lucky, leave only a small number remaining. But then the second unit will shoot. And if the morale is high, you will immediately block the second unit of archers and prevent them from dealing damage.

If you're playing as Necropolis, but not with a Necromancer or Death Knight, then you have a very interesting tactic. :)
No, my tactic isn't interesting, it's not remarkable in any way, and I rarely play as Necropolis. :) Ley
But what's the point of giving a hero leadership...? Necropolis can't have morale, neither negative nor positive.
What the benefit will be, we'll have to figure out, but the fact that a hero playing as Necropolis might face the dilemma from the first post is quite possible. Dirty_Player
What the benefit will be, we still need to figure out, but the fact that a hero playing as Necropolis might face the dilemma from the first post – that’s quite possible.
A Necromancer or Death Knight can’t get leadership when leveling up! And playing as Necropolis with a Druid or Barbarian – IMHO, that’s a perversion! Auriga;121407
And what makes him easier to level up? :)
1) He starts with +1. 2) Archangels give +1. 3) There are more artifacts that increase morale than those that increase luck, and they are easier to find. IMHO, leadership makes sense when you have 3 or more types of troops in your army.
A Necromancer or Death Knight shouldn't get leadership as they level up! And playing as undead, for example, with a Druid or Barbarian – in my opinion, that's perverse!
Whether it's perverse or not, it does happen. Why not level up some armored units? There's probably more than one Necropolis on the map. If he can't gather an extra thousand skeletons, I think the two thousand gathered by Necromancer heroes will be enough to defeat everyone. :) Dirty_Player;121408
1) From the very beginning, it's +1. 2) Archangels give +1. 3) There are more artifacts that increase morale than those that increase luck, and they are easier to find.
Archangels only give a bonus to castle units; for the rest, they give and take it back immediately. The number of artifacts is about the same. In the end, there's an advantage if the army is of one type.
