I want to add an artifact shop to all cities. I tried to do this for the Order of the Dawn, but it's not working. Maybe there's something else I need to specify?
Here's what I've done (I suspect I'm missing the most important thing, the "logic" that will pull up the artifact shop functions, but I don't know where to define it).
Here's how I did it:
But it's not accessible.
In the Academy of Magic, the artifact shop is Special_3. I created Special_3 for Haven (they were missing it).
I added it to the Order of the Dawn in MapObjects.
It also appears in the map editor (you can build it, remove it, or disable it).
But the building doesn't perform its function (opening the artifact purchase interface). I think this is because the Order of the Dawn doesn't have a Special_3 that is linked to the artifact shop.
Does anyone know where I can specify this position?
Everything is the same, so why doesn't it work in one city but works in another? Because the cities are different.
In short, it's unlikely to work.
Different functions are tied to the special buildings in cities. From racial buildings to buildings that increase growth and provide resources. I couldn't find where this is linked, but I suspect it's in the code itself, and it's impossible to change this link. Based on my experience, if you take an unused special building ID and create a new building for it, that building will simply have no functions.
However, this building can be used as a trigger for a script. For example, "if player X has building Y, then add 5 gems to player X every day, etc." Many different features can be implemented with such scripts. But unfortunately, that's all that can be done with them.
Everything is the same, so why doesn't it work in one town but works in another? Because the towns are different. In short, it's probably not going to work.
Too bad, I wanted an artifact shop for all factions... especially since there's already a button for it in each town's interface. Well, maybe someday we'll find a way.
By the way, today I was browsing through some files and found this mention. It turns out that Haven had a SPECIAL_3 building. But it's not in the buildingsshared folder or in the city's file. Apparently, they abandoned the idea of a hospital. =)
Purely theoretically, purely theoretically... with some massive workarounds, you could create an art shop for each faction. But the result would be extremely absurd.
interesting... do demons have a non-functional building? they have an unused model of the "order of fire," which consists of two demon statues floating near the Capitol bridge.

Well, judging by the screenshot I posted above, it is also mentioned for Inferno under number 3 (SPECIAL_3). I think they wanted to create a kind of analogue to the "Chamber of Intrigue," but not based on knowledge, but on witchcraft.
Oh, but implementing such a building with a script is very easy! With a bonus to spellcasting. Or to something else. For a few battles, or permanently.
Okay. I’ll print the KTTs and send them to you. Just a heads-up, we won’t be able to avoid those issues with the map patcher that we already discussed. But I will definitely tell you about Kruzenstern.
By the way, psatkha, do you happen to have an executable file that allows for 10 SPELL_CUSTOM_ABILITY slots instead of 4? I would be grateful if you could share it.
