Posts from Guide on adding a new model, animation, and creature to HoMMV
Well, share some of your developments, because every time I go to a forum topic where you claim that you have a "breakthrough" or promise to write an instruction guide, I think, "Now I'll find out everything," but then you delete or change your posts, leaving non-working links, and then there's silence.
Yes, yes. This is what I keep repeating to the ever-so-clever Footman.

For clarity, here's my old post about why you can't use transparency in animations.

In general, thank you to the developers for the poor technical part of the game...

and when I asked if anyone needed it at all, only Pstatha answered, and even then, I asked, not promised anyone anything, so this is pure slander.
I answered "yes, of course, it's needed" several times to your "does anyone need it." So saying that only Pstatha answered is "pure slander."
But seriously, yes, you didn't promise anything anywhere. Vova made a mistake here. But this doesn't change the overall picture. You share information and resources inexplicably sparingly, and you really like to brag and show off. And I honestly don't understand why. Oh well, never mind.
@footman, sharing knowledge with fellow members of the Heroes community is a significant gesture; don't be stingy and do it, but do it when you can and want to. Years, even decades, may pass, and people passionate about Heroes will remember you! I am confident that with its current achievements, Heroes 5 has every chance of remaining as enduring as the legendary Heroes 3!
But now, what are the chances? I may have a negative attitude towards Heroes 3 (I'm a fan of Heroes 4, but I respect Heroes 3 for its AI), but it has virtually no chances. If you compare Heroes 3 and Heroes 5, it's simply a clone of Heroes 3, but in 3D, and not the most successful one in terms of all parameters: 1) Let's start with the AI, which is relevant today. What prevented the developers from simply taking the AI from Heroes 3 and not reinventing the wheel in the next four installments (this applies not only to Heroes 5). 2) I won't compare the graphics of Heroes 3 and Heroes 5; I'll just say that there were games with better graphics than Heroes 5 even before it was released, and without all sorts of unjustified bugs and functions that don't work together or don't work at all. 3) Gameplay and balance: here, things are the most normal. Necromancers dominate everywhere and always in the late game (almost). All that's missing is an artifact to raise liches for 0.1 units of energy. 4) Modding: this is the most interesting part, specifically the fact that it is very limited by the ingenious decisions of the developers in the style of "we are the developers, so only we can do this." Listing everything that cannot be done because of them or can only be done with workarounds (hex editors and scripts) would take too long. In my opinion, Heroes 3 is still popular because its source code is available online, but as for the code of Heroes 5, everything is clear to everyone.
Comrade Zakhar, the person might simply not have the time to explain. Unfortunately.
By the way, Zahar, I made a breakthrough in mapmaking, improved the graphics to a cyber-punk level, and added 10 new factions; I just won't explain how I did it.
So, what are the chances now? I may have a negative attitude towards the third game (I'm a fan of the fourth, but I respect the third for its AI), but it simply has no chances when compared to the fifth. Comparing the third and fifth games, the fifth is just a clone of the third, but in 3D, and not the most successful one in all aspects: 1) Let's start with the AI, which is relevant today. What prevented the developers from simply taking the AI from the third game and not reinventing the wheel for the next four games (this applies not only to the fifth). 2) I won't compare the graphics of the third and fifth games; just note that there were games with better graphics than the third, even before the fifth, and without all sorts of unjustified bugs and functions that don't work together or don't work at all. 3) Gameplay and balance: here, things are the most normal. Regarding the balance, you are wrong (or you only play as the Overlords). In very long games, Orcs and Mages are the strongest. At the beginning of the game, Dwarves and Chaos are the strongest. Perhaps Kaspar is good then. And it sounds like Liches are the most useful unit (yes, yes). In general, it's better to ask our tournament visitors; they will explain it to us. I recommend watching the RPGGames video "Why Heroes V is loved." It clearly explains why the fifth game is loved. The AI has already been improved by Mr. Q, and the balance can be fixed.
Considering the possibilities that the developers GAVE for editing the game, it is better than many others.

But there are no chances. Unfortunately.
Well, I only play as the Overlords; the reference to Liches was just a nod to the third game and the overpowered art for the Necropolis faction. Regarding the possibilities, you are wrong. For example, in the seventh game, they fully added Inferno as a new faction, not just in terms of visuals, but that's not what I'm talking about, and in my opinion, that's not the only thing that can be done in it http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=46752.
Let's start with the current state of AI – what prevented the developers from simply taking the AI from the third game instead of reinventing the wheel in the next four installments (this applies not only to the fifth game).
I don't want to participate in arguments, but... How is it possible to "take AI"? It sounds paradoxical; it's unlikely that the AI in the third game is a universal library that can be plugged in and adapted anywhere, like some DeepMind. I fully support the creation of any guides and other content. I don't know how much longer the fifth game will last, but the fact that its lifespan is extended against all odds is a fact. The fifth installment has been alive, albeit with varying degrees of success, for 14 years, which is twice as long as the time that passed from the creation of the third game to the creation of the fifth game; however, that's a fact...

I didn't notice, sorry, what specific possibilities I was talking about. If you're referring to the phrase "10 new factions," I meant specifically the fifth game, where you can't add new factions; it's just my specific humor, because the attitude of "I have a feature/mod/cool thing, but I won't give it to you because you didn't ask me for it on the entire forum" makes me smile, excuse my expression. It's clear that in other games, they will add and have added.

Well, I guess I didn't express myself very clearly: taking a part of the code from Heroes of Might and Magic III that is responsible for the AI and adapting it to Heroes of Might and Magic V, I understand that this is not a ctrl+c ctrl+v process, but it's better to take something that is already ready than to reinvent the wheel.
Loool. It seems someone... I don't even know who, got upset and started downvoting all my posts in this thread, going back about four pages, I don't know if it went further.)) Moreover, even posts that have absolutely nothing to do with this mysterious someone were downvoted.
Dear, mysterious someone. If you disagree with my opinion about you, please say so directly. Maybe I just misunderstood you, and in reality, you are doing everything right)).

I think Footman's entire post, about how "the fifth game is bad, and it's dying, and he finds it funny, and all that," is just a troll post, and it's pointless to argue.
You can only agree that there are indeed balance issues, but not with some factions, but with the Orcs. But the balance problems are not critical and exist in many games. Besides, they can be fixed.

For now, the situation seems to be under control.
I believe (in my opinion) that if someone really wants to be helpful, they should share their experience and knowledge. Therefore, I also fully support any Manuals and guides. Ment, I dare to believe that the sign of the Heroes' demise will be the closure of the Heroes for fan channel, and this, unfortunately, is already approaching. Although TGame is successfully developing. I will repeat my thought once again: online play will not die in the coming years. But everything else, despite any Manuals/guides content, will not last long.
I didn't notice, sorry, what specific possibilities I was talking about. If you're referring to the phrase "new 10 races," I meant the fifth game, where you can't add new races; it's just my specific sense of humor, because the attitude of "I have a feature/mod/cool thing, but I won't give it to you because you didn't ask me about it on the entire forum" makes me smile, excuse my expression. I meant that the seventh game has more possibilities than the fifth, and I only used adding a race as an example.

I'm not sure these little birds actually matter. They just sit there. I even feel sorry for the person who decides to find all of a user's messages and put a downvote bird there. But if someone wants to do that, let them. By the way, with Ment's permission, it would be good to delete them later. There's no need for off-topic negativity to be hanging around here, I think.
