Second: an adult's opinion isn't necessarily more authoritative than a child's. That is, yes, you said that from your point of view, the film is below par, and even from the director's point of view, it might be below par. But why is the director's opinion or your opinion today more authoritative than your eight-year-old self's opinion? And even if it is more authoritative (I can agree with that, with reservations, meaning that a child's opinions are more easily changed by external factors and are less stable), then why shouldn't the latter's opinion be valid (I can't agree with that at all)? So, for me, this film with post-irony (if you're right about the director's intention) also contains post-post-irony – in the end, the film turned out to be, apparently, decent, partially refuting the post-ironic intention. Well, partially, of course, not completely.

To judge it with full commitment as a nostalgic, being a serious fan and dissecting every frame, is not just a mistake, but an initial waste of energy in a completely wrong direction. The film is not about directing, searching for some kind of logic, or about deep themes, but about a near-apocalyptic atmosphere of neon-acidic decadence, which sharply contrasts with the reality of the real world and your expectations of a typical film about Batman from that era. Yes, with a touch of post-ironic humor about the cinematic genre of comics as such, but I don't consider it the main factor. And yet, it is still the best, most energetic, and funniest Batman film out of all the old ones; there's nothing to even discuss here. I think the main problem with the film's low rating among the public is that, in fact, it's a film from the twentieth century about comics and for children, and it's not designed for a demanding adult audience. But the modern Marvel industry, which has raised several generations of fans, "as if" no longer implies that you take your children to the cinema to see the Avengers, but gives you the illusion that you have a fantastic triple-A action movie here, which you watch on your own at the age of 25+ as a serious film, and you can even discuss it later over a Coca-Cola with other overweight guys, make a video analyzing the plot twists for a YouTube channel, and sit in threads discussing it on Reddit. As a result, you feel dissonance, trying to evaluate old films according to the same standards, although they had a different purpose. In this regard, the other old Batman films will look more favorably against the backdrop of Schumacher's film, because in them, Batman jumps from a roof into an alley, delivers a couple of blows to a gangster, and for the next half hour, we see him wandering in a black T-shirt through the dusty corridors of the mansion and reflecting, while the Joker/Penguin/Two-Face make faces, have fun with women, and smoke cigars, delivering the same cringeworthy one-liners, all in a black and gray color scheme – supposedly more serious. Nevertheless, in childhood, it was very boring to watch this stuff; that is, the films even performed their basic function very poorly, unlike Schumacher's spectacle of meta-irony.

The film has a good idea, but it is difficult to judge the implementation – everything is noisy, explosions, everyone is running somewhere, so I didn't have time to understand whether they did a bad job with the implementation, or everything is correct, I'm just too slow. I will definitely watch it again when it comes out on DVD and I can pause at each moment and think about whether it is well done or not. I could watch a review on YouTube right now, but somehow I didn't even try to figure it out myself.

Although the moral is quite obvious, it's not explicitly stated, which I liked because, in my opinion, in such films, someone always says the obvious thing out loud. Personally, I enjoyed watching it, both the action scenes and everything else, although many complain that everything except the shootouts is boring. There's also a cool twist somewhere between the second and third acts of the film – it was unexpected. Although it's two hours long, it was easy to watch. 7/10
