Upgrade (2018)

I stumbled upon this movie by chance. I decided to join in. I had no idea what it was about and was very skeptical about recent releases. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the movie.

So, it's a sci-fi movie where the main character runs around with a computer on his back and takes revenge. At first glance, it seems quite cliché. The plot is stereotypical and predictable. But... the final twists and the ending are completely unexpected and somewhat original. The movie reminded me of Lukyanenko's story "Gadget" in some places.

The movie also has good humor and simple but decent graphics. I enjoyed watching it, and I was especially pleased with the ending. Plus, the movie doesn't suffer too much from wokeness. It's there, but it's limited to a black female detective and a good joke: "better not ask my gender."

8.5 out of 10 for an entertaining sci-fi movie with good ideas.

Not a bad drama, a bit depressing, and the soundtrack is excellent. I quite liked it.

Comparing Requiem and Trainspotting (with not a single train in the entire film), the latter wins in the sense that it honestly shows the dirt and grime, while the former looks too glamorous and polished. But Requiem, of course, focuses heavily on drama, while Trainspotting is too drawn out. If the film had ended with the protagonist failing to get clean and, say, being killed by a cop during another petty robbery or simply overdosing, then the film would have been much better.

Not the greatest comedy, and not even the greatest comedy with Celentano. But it's pleasant enough to spend an evening watching.

After watching the trailer and reading the movie description, I didn't want to watch it for a long time because it didn't appeal to me. However, when I was looking for it in my favorite lists, it was always at the top. Yesterday, I couldn't find any interesting psychological thrillers and decided to watch it anyway. Now it's my favorite movie :D

As it turns out, James McAvoy plays in this film, and he was quite young back then, which immediately increased my interest in the movie. And now I know where the idea came from to cast James as Professor X – he seems to be good at playing disabled characters, yes.
The film shows the life of a disabled person from an unconventional perspective. In films like Intouchables, we're used to the idea that, no matter how difficult things are, you're still a good and kind person, and everyone around you is also good, kind, and witty (which was good in its own way, but perhaps doesn't quite reflect the reality?).
In this film, on the other hand, you can clearly feel the weight of the situation, the imperfections of the characters, the imperfections of everyone else, and there aren't many rose-tinted glasses to be found. But humor is also present, which is important to some...

Sky, you might like it, but at the beginning of the film, there are various parties, so be careful, because we know your sensitive nature.

It has a cool atmosphere, especially at the beginning – perhaps one of the most unusual post-apocalyptic settings I've seen. The heroine ends up in a strange world, gets a guitar, and...
But towards the end of the first season, it starts to feel stale, I think. The sense of novelty is gone, the plots are more mundane, and the actions change quickly and spontaneously... Part of the second season maintains the quality, but the other part isn't particularly good either. In the end, it all turns into some kind of Mary Sue story, and it started so well...
Although, overall, it was interesting enough for me to watch it to the end.

Big Hero 6

I missed it at first. It's beautiful, sometimes funny, but overall – a rather standard "superhero" story. It seems like I've seen something similar (but in better quality) in Spider-Man, or somewhere else...

A film about how the ultimate alpha male integrates into the life of a typical American family (so typical that it reminds me of a Russian family) and makes the lives of ordinary people better simply by the fact of his magnificent existence. Of course, everything turns out to be not so simple...
Plot-wise, the film is nothing special, but the main character is one of the best alpha males, if not the best, that I've ever seen, and it was frankly enjoyable to watch him. I'll also add the very cool musical score and conclude that I really liked the film, even despite the not-so-great gunfights (although some of the stunts are excellent), the cliché ending, and the WOKE AGENDA (although maybe it's just me seeing it everywhere). Overall, my subjective rating is 8 alpha males out of 10 possible.
