If he is on a mission for the humans, then where is the human Castle? Gruver clearly has a split personality. One Gruver travels with troops from the Academy, establishes cities of the Academy, and in battle defeats Harold's army, sent to capture him. The other Gruver considers himself a conquistador of Haven, travels with an army of Knights; however, after being captured by Harold, he is forced to undergo treatment for schizophrenia.
According to the plot, he is with the humans, but I didn't want to create a scenario for Haven. Also, according to the plot, Harold defeats Gruver's army, but how would that look in the game itself? Would we make it so the player loses? I don't think so.
I don't like the final hero, not because he can cast mass "light" spells and single-target "darkness" spells, but because he casts either three spells (!) (one mass spell and two single-target spells), or two spells at once. If the goal was to make things more difficult for the player, why not immediately unleash all the "darkness" magic on the hero during his first cast? It would definitely be challenging. The player cannot simultaneously remove curses from their units and cast something else. Moreover, "subjugation" and "berserk" are removed using different methods, i.e., not at once. I have already written about such a concentration of spells (#33); now this has become even more widespread. To win the finale, knowledge isn't important; ordinary luck is what matters. If both "darkness" spells take effect, you lose; if only one does, you might survive. As a result, there will be many replays. I would be interested in seeing an author's version of how this battle could unfold (replay). In conclusion, the mentor at the final Castle is working properly in version 1.2. This is just a small clarification, as some confusion arises from the posts above.
I fixed this problem, but it's strange... In my game, he casts either 1 or 2 spells. But in your game, he casts up to 3.
Also, according to the plot, Harold defeats Grover's army, but how would that look in the game itself? Should we make the player lose?
For example, there is no need to conduct the battle with Harold in real-time; the player only has their army weakened. Harold approaches Grover, and a dialogue scene begins. Accordingly, the dialogue scene can be formatted as "caught-healed-released." You can make the scenes so that they don't jar the eye in any episode.
I fixed this problem, but it's strange... He cast either 1 or 2 spells. And in your case, he cast 3.
I played on Veteran difficulty, taking my time and struggling with every Barbarian. xD In the end, it took 249 days. I liked the map, but I don't understand why the enemy heroes respawn like that – it got to the point where it was almost comical, like I was barely managing to send Leto to the tavern, and the next day he'd be back with hordes of troops. And the Barbarians were also spamming their units, not giving me a moment's peace. But overall, I really liked the map, thanks to the author.
P.s. I don't know why everyone in the thread thinks Harold is weak. Personally, on Veteran, he gave me the most trouble – and some people even killed him with almost no losses. I don't know how that's possible, considering how often he moves and attacks with Divine Might, dealing 50 damage. But Carfelt and Glen are completely useless. Although, maybe that's because I encountered them very late in the game....
P.p.s. I didn't see it in the description, but I'm still curious – is the Dragon set banned? I haven't seen the necklace in 8 months.
Thank you for your feedback.
The hero spawn rate is designed to make the heroes more than just one-time encounters and to pose a threat to the player.
The Dragon set is not banned, as far as I know.
Good day! I'm not a very skilled player, but after completing the first part (which I really enjoyed, playing as a hero and facing many challenges), I wanted to play through the entire series of maps. But here, in the second part, I encountered a problem: after finally dealing with the Orcs (which took me 6 in-game months), two "plumbers" – Dark Elves – emerged from the sewers, each with 400 Black Dragons, 300 Shadow Lords, etc. And their heroes' stats are 2-3 times higher than mine. Is this normal? Did I take too long? I only have an army of about 50 Thunderbirds, 70 Rakshasa, and so on.
Ho-ho-ho, what a familiar situation! I also played a map where, around the 6th or 7th month, I got rid of the Orcs, and then two of them appeared, identical in appearance, each with 300 Black Dragons, but Summoning saved me. Immediately during the siege, I destroy the catapult and then break down the walls; the main thing is that they don't destroy your wagon. :) I've attached screenshots.
P.S. It's a pity that the author stopped making maps; the scenarios were very interesting, in my opinion
At first, it seemed worse than the first one due to the constant running around after the Orc, but those were minor inconveniences until the Dark Elves started appearing, and I was like, "What am I going to do with you guys...?" But let's go through it step by step...
1) The start, thanks again to the author for allowing me to choose a bonus; of course, Logistics with finding the path is the best in my opinion...
2) Because the Mage is weak at the start, there were some problems until I leveled up a bit. Although Computer Player is not forbidden, I decided to level up in the same way as in the previous map: Logistics, Sharp Mind, Sorcery, Summoning - Fire Warrior, Chaos Pyre, and Enchantment. But I didn't get very lucky with the spells in the guild; there was only Phantom and Celestial Shield from Summoning, and Fireball from Chaos, which I stole from the Archmages... But I did get a Subordinate at level 5, which, as it turned out, wouldn't be unnecessary at all. Yes, I found all of this in other Castles, but I didn't really need it anymore...
3) I realized that Chaos wasn't really needed because there weren't any good spells, so I decided to change it to Attack and Ranged Attack with Mass Acceleration, which is much more effective against the Orc (3 ranged units, after all).
It was a bit tedious to run after these Orcs, and I thought it was boring and annoying, but then I saw the Warlocks... and thought about how to deal with them, but I decided to wait...
4) I captured everything, rebuilt, and after some time, these guys appeared. I thought and thought about how to deal with them, but in the end, I remembered the Subordinate, and Slow was useful, so I took it, removed Attack, and added Darkness. But the battle with the Leto also went well for the most part, and I took a counterspell from the Sorcerer and put on a set for resistance, losing a lot, but I won...
5) We gather an army and move on. I thought that the battle with the Mage was the finale, so I didn't try very hard to fight him, but no, there are still 2 more difficult battles. After teleporting there, I realized that I was too weak, and at that moment, I didn't even know that I would have to besiege a Castle...
6) I spent a couple of weeks gathering the entire Mage army, Castles, dwellings, abused the Dragon set, dropped Sorcery, Summoning, and Logistics, took Light, Attack, Defense, Leadership, and went forward.
7) In the future, the battles are more or less easy, if someone hadn't forgotten to take carriages, at least a cart. Glen is doing well, the main thing is to hit the Ballista at the start, because it's basically a Knight with a Ring, and we don't need these problems...
8) In the Castle with the Inquisitor, use Antimagic on the Titans, because he just overwhelms with Divine Wrath and fists! We defeat them.

In general, I was pleased with the plot, the unexpected twist that the Inquisitor turned out to be a Demon, who then covered his tracks. And I feel sorry for Grover... (The map is beautiful and concise; I liked how the bridge to the portal was implemented.
P.S. The description of Glen is TOP).
I'm starting the next map
Thank you for the game - it was interesting (I played it 6 years ago, so I refreshed my memory).
