And the .xdb file contains the path to the texture.
New here? I'm Roha — want a quick tour?
The path is specified to the .xdb file, not to the .dds texture.

Question: which file is responsible for the creature's texture: with the .dds or .tga extension? .dds files are in each creature folder, while .tga files are almost nowhere.
.dds or .tga, it doesn't matter.
.xdb is located in the same folder as the textures and has a similar (or identical) name. You need to open it with Notepad. Inside, there is a line without a path (the second one, I think) with the name of the texture file (it should be in the same folder as the .xdb file so that the game can see it).
Then, you specify the path to this .xdb file.

It is important to note that the .xdb extension is used not only for texture files but also for half of the other files.

Look for Maya. Search persistently and for a long time, in every nook and cranny, there is no other option...
Maya 6.0, nothing else is needed.
2013 is not suitable. It's actually Alias Maya (before Autodesk acquired it).
