Posts from HoMM3 HD is a mod (add-on) for the game Heroes of Might and Magic 3.
In the second scenario, observing another player (an opponent) battling against AI/neutrals is akin to cheating, as it provides accurate information about the opponent: their skills, troops, spells, and artifacts (the last two points are not always the case, but possible when they are used). The same applies to the first scenario. Exception: perhaps it would be possible to organize a viewing of a battle with an ally.
PVP battles in alliances don't work. But it's a great feature, so we want to fight for neutrals :D. Therefore, we play against each other, remembering the flags (not without some mishaps :). We constantly discuss the battles, creating a picture of the battle in our minds.
It's not very clear why, when loading a save (not an autosave), the timer increases by the duration of the turn.
At first glance, there are no arguments in favor of this.
But if they exist, perhaps increasing it by 1-2 minutes would be a good option?
(For example, to allow players to focus on the turn before starting to click when the timer is low – loading a save can still be disorienting; in our Game of Thrones game, for example, Lucky lost to Bishop in a won game by misclicking immediately after loading).
A specific situation occurred today in a game. A crash occurred during a battle (just in case – it was impossible to lose there; an ubermage with double mana, oil, and expert resurrection was fighting neutrals; it was a normal crash). The battle.gm2 file is loaded, and during loading, the remaining time timer shows 2:45 (this is the correct timer). After loading, the player is suddenly given an additional 8:30, and they take their turn starting from 11:15. We agreed to simply take an 8:30 break. The player waits for the 2:45 mark and then starts their turn.
But what was the original purpose of this timer increase (is it a feature)? Or is there no purpose (is it a bug)?
I came across an interesting picture on VK. Essentially, there is nothing special about it, except for the ability to bind spells to hotkeys. It would be very convenient to use Dimension Door, Town Portal, or oil, resurrection in battle, without spending time looking into and flipping through the book. Is it possible to implement something like this? Currently, numbers 1-9 seem to be free. I think it would be great.
99% sure it's not possible. The HD edition is a complete failure by the developers; it's better to play the original Heroes + HD mod.
Understood, thank you.
Is there a way to add any new gameplay features? I mean, for example, after building a market and a resource depot, add another building, something like a messenger (post office), to allow sending artifacts and/or armies to allies? (of course, the transaction should not take 1 day, but, say, several days, 3, 5, or 7. Maybe as a plugin for the offline game?)
I also read a thread about changes to combat information. For example, displaying the combat log in different colors would be interesting to see in your mod. (and a hint about how many creatures will be killed, not only when hovering over an enemy unit during your turn, but also when hovering over magic).
These are just suggestions and wishes. The mod is great, cool, interesting, and convenient. Thank you very much!
Edited: OFF-TOPIC in the message
The only thing the HD edition has is a real, large resolution (high-quality, beautiful picture), which, by the way, I still haven't been able to run properly at 1680x1050 (I've tried all sorts of resolutions - the aspect ratio always turns out distorted). And in everything else, there is a complete lack of all the conveniences of the HD mod - this is, of course, a utopia.
Added after 16 hours 55 minutes And also, I read earlier in the thread about a suggestion to make it so that you can watch an ally's battle even when not playing on the same PC; this would also be very convenient! Because sometimes there is an opportunity to play over a network or on one PC, and you have to choose a PC because you don't want to sit and watch the map while the ally is in battle

For a long time, I've been suffering from the random repositioning of hero icons in the corresponding menu (to the left of the castles). The main hero might be at the top, you take your turn, and he's at the very bottom. I know about the Alt key shortcut, which allows you to move the hero back to the top, but he can still slide down again.
I played for a long time at 800x600, and I thought it was a problem with the old interface. I switched to 830x664, and it's the same. It seems like a small thing, but it's incredibly annoying.
Also, when playing at 830x664 or higher (apparently), after upgrading Archers/Mages with Jellu or a Dragon, the resource menu doesn't update (gold doesn't decrease). You need to perform some action with the mouse to display the actual gold value. Apparently, since these heroes aren't used in Multiplayer, no one is fixing it. #Campaignheroeslivesmatter.

In the unofficial patch-plugin for the HD mod by RoseCavalier: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=44581
there is such a function. In general, there are many interesting ideas there, but there are so many of them that it affects the stability of the game. Hotkeys aren't that convenient in practice; what is really needed is a turn sequence feature.

In the original game, the hero slides down after being moved to and from the city's garrison. When a hero is moved to the garrison, he is removed from the list of external heroes. There can be 8 external heroes and 48 garrisoned heroes. When a hero is moved back from the garrison, there is no way to know what his previous position in the list was, especially since other heroes may also enter or leave the garrisons between the time he is placed in the garrison and when he is moved back. Therefore, when a hero is moved from the garrison back to the map, he is added to the list as the last one.
I am not aware of any cases of a hero spontaneously moving around the list without being placed in the garrison.

Thank you for the answer. Oh my god, I didn't even think about the garrison; it really does disappear from the menu after that, which is why it slides down. If this cannot be undone due to the game mechanics, then that's fine; at least now it's clear why this happens.
I would also like to report that the RecruitDlgAutosetMax option does not work on the external golem factory; when selecting each new golem, it is set to 1.
Also, I can suggest improving the battle log in the future – the additional damage from spells due to specializations is not taken into account, even if it exists. The same problem exists in Heroes of Might and Magic.
This isn't just present in the Factory, but also in all dwellings where more than one creature resides (Confluxes of elementals, for example). I reported this bug on the Heroes of Might and Magic forum a while ago, but the response was quickly lost. Regarding the second suggestion, it would also be nice if the system automatically calculated the number of casualties, as spending precious seconds on calculations isn't ideal.
Hello everyone. I really liked the add-on; it doesn't distort proportions on a widescreen monitor – everything is perfect.
There’s only one minor issue: the final video after completing the map isn’t displayed. The one where the dragon withers over gold and scorches the player with fire :). After that, everything works normally – you enter your name and save it to the records.

The issue is likely not related to that; even in the older version of HoMM3 HD 3.07f (15.10.2012), the final video after completing a map is displayed. Perhaps the problem lies in the specific version of "Heroes" being used, and that version simply has this video removed. There seem to be countless different repack versions available, ranging from completely complete ones (nothing removed) to utterly poor ones (everything possible has been removed to save a few more bytes).
