Hello, heroes!

Work on a kind of add-on for Heroes 7 has been in full swing for just over a year now, with the rather elaborate name "Umbra Mage Wryn Pendragon."

The add-on is being developed by a group of enthusiastic fans of Might & Magic from all over the world, including Russia. The project creator, a Czech guy known as Lord Graa, revealed the main details of the upcoming add-on!

1) What exactly is "Umbra Mage Wryn Pendragon"?
"Umbra Mage Wryn Pendragon" is a fan project that adds a number of new features to the game "Might & Magic: Heroes 7":

A completely new faction - Xel;

New neutral creatures;

New hero skills and abilities;

New artifacts;

New spells;

New visitable buildings on the adventure map.

New campaigns in which the player must take the side of each of the opposing factions in the new universe.

The first campaign tells about the main protagonist - Wryn Pendragon. The second – about the Xel aliens who want to enslave all living things on the planet. And in the final scenario, the C'Sura alliance will decide the fate not only of the Xel aliens but also of all of Mondalar.

2) What new features can we expect in the add-on?
A fully developed city for the Xel faction (with its own buildings and city screen). 18 creatures from this faction and neutrals (in total). 9 bosses. 13 creatures summoned as "living statues" using alchemy. Two brand new hero skills: "Mutagenesis" - a faction skill for Xel, and "Alchemy" - a unique skill for artisan heroes. A system of random weather effects called "Atmos," which directly affects both the adventure map and the battle map. New unique heroes with their own unique specializations. And much more!

3) Which version of the game is required to install it?
Since the gnome add-on is important for this add-on, you need to have the "Trial by Fire" or "Complete Edition" version of the game.

4) How much will it cost?
Nothing. All campaigns (and maps) can be downloaded for FREE. However, if you want to help our project, we would appreciate it. But even more than that, we would welcome your help and direct participation in the project!

5) Where can I download it?
All parts of the campaigns will be available for download on the official website of the project when the public beta version is completed. Subsequent new versions of the add-on will also be released there.

6) How much disk space will it take up?
The add-on consists of maps and campaigns, each chapter weighing tens of megabytes. It will become clear later.

7) What languages will the add-on be translated into?
The project is being created in Czech, then translated into English. We plan to release the add-on immediately in these two languages, and later we will add German and French localization. If you want to localize "Umbra Mage Wryn Pendragon" (UMP) into your native language, just contact us!

8) How many campaigns and maps will there be in it?
There will be a total of 3 campaigns, which will be released in this order: Wryn Pendragon, Xel, C'Sura Alliance. Each campaign will consist of 3 interconnected maps.

9) Will bugs from the main game be fixed?
Unfortunately, no. This mod add-on will be distributed through new maps and campaigns, where you can try out all the innovations. Due to certain licensing agreements (regarding 3D models), the mod will not affect the original game files. However, you can use the "Atmos" system everywhere, as it was developed within the Kismet in-game editor.

10) So, does that mean a new faction and creatures will be added to the game?
Not exactly (see above). You will only be able to play as or against the new faction and new creatures on special maps created by us.

11) Can I use the "Atmos" system on my own maps?
Yes. That is why we created this system of random weather effects. A detailed instruction on how to copy the "Atmos" system into your map and make it work will be available later.

12) Where and how can I help the project authors?
If you want to help the project cover expenses, you can do so via bank transfer or PayPal. Thank you in advance for all your support!

According to the head of the project, work on the add-on is ~89% complete (as of September 26, 2017). All that remains is to create adventure maps and battle arena maps.

The units look extremely unlore-friendly, as if they were cut out of Half-Life and pasted into the game. But overall, strangely enough, the mod doesn't seem like a rushed job. The town screen, in particular, is excellent. It's clear that people spent a considerable amount of time and effort on it.

The units look extremely out of place, as if they were cut out of Half-Life and pasted into the game. But overall, surprisingly, the mod doesn't seem like a shoddy job. The town screen is actually excellent. You can see that people spent a lot of time and effort on it.

Let's wait for the release! ;)

It looks great. Both the creatures and the town. I wonder, will such a fan-made add-on revive interest in Heroes of Might and Magic VII?

No. As I already wrote, it is critically important to create an interesting balance and fix the interface. A new town is nice, but it doesn't address the most pressing issue.

The city looks okay, nothing special...
I didn't quite understand, will this race be added to the existing ones, or will it replace one of them?
By the way, in Heroes of Might and Magic VII, there's a four-player campaign – it features white tigers, for example, which aren't in the main game. Is that also a skin for some creature from the main faction?

As I understand it, it will be added – in the seventh installment, it’s done better with mod support, and executable files shouldn’t be needed for custom content.
white tigers
And there were neutral panthers, either in the seventh or sixth part. Redrawing the texture is not a problem.

You can only play after placing a town on the map. It seems to be the same problem as in the fifth game.

However, creatures are clearly being added to the seventh game without any issues.

The town reminds me of the Zerg from Starcraft, by the way.

Well, that's not bad. If they also made it so that RMG could generate maps of the largest size, I would play this mod with almost as much enjoyment as I did with WOG back in the day.

So, the mod can now be downloaded... it's a shame that it can't be used with Heroes 7 and the Trial by Fire expansion.

Or should we try to upload the mod to the version without the DLC... if the original source is to be believed, the gnomes are needed for the campaign, where they participate in the plot.
