Ayko Viresenser set the hammer aside: the work was done. The girl's hands were, of course, terribly tired from the enchanting and the late-night writing, but there was no escaping it. And then, after the battle, she still had to go to work... At the very least, the dwarf really wanted to make up for the missed workdays at Upgrade, otherwise it wouldn't be right to Mr. Orros that she had to be under guard instead of helping valued customers because of her other activities. Who knows if he agreed with this logic or not...

"And who knows if I'll even get to work today, or at any point in the future, or if I'll just end up lying in a damp hole," a unpleasant thought crossed her mind. Of course, the plan was quite well thought out, and they should win, but the dwarf knew all too well that planning doesn't always lead to success. She knew this from bitter experience. And yet, it wasn't as if they had a choice – otherwise, their squad would be wasting the princess's gems for nothing. Now was the best, and perhaps the only, moment when Carneol could prove his worth.

Although, of course, if it weren't for Miss Aiyano, Ayko would have had to abandon this mission, however bitter it might be. This was obvious. But now, with their new ally, there were reasons to persevere. Their information, numbers, and organization, combined with the extraordinary abilities of the foreigner, were the key to success, which even the guard probably didn't have.

Ayko's comrades took the preparations seriously, and that pleased her. Some even went so far as to knock on the door of the bookstore early in the morning (oh, that Merel). The dwarf herself felt an unfamiliar tingling in her fingers: even though the ring didn't allow magic to break free, the Worm Queen was now confident in her abilities and that she could use them.

— Let's go.

(When everyone is ready, the formation is as on the map, but Ayko and Merel are switched)
(Elixir of Life in Ayko's "other" slot)

Keliandra studies Earthquake, or whatever that spell was called, for 500 experience points and heads to the meeting place.

Will he later use "Carnelian" to shake things up in such a way that it "accidentally" falls into Raphael's arms?

So that Raphael doesn't accidentally fall into her arms.

Heh-heh, I have the best defense.

And then, suddenly – Victor runs in the opposite direction from his pursuers and escapes with the map.

Actually, that would be a sensible move for him. We run away and lure him into a trap.

If I knew Ayano’s stats, I would have run in the opposite direction too 😅

Suddenly, Victor runs in the opposite direction from the pursuers and escapes to grab the map.

Yesterday, while making the plan, Ayko was most afraid of this (almost), but now she believes that the priestess will be able to attract the undead with her mask. 😎

that's when the earthquake will begin

bro, she's just a support...

A support with 400 HP, regeneration, eight charges of auto-resurrection, and a paralysis that lasts until the end of the battle. In 1-on-1 battles, she is practically unbeatable if the opponent doesn't have immunity to paralysis/high willpower/reduction of maximum health on auto-attacks. She could do this quest solo, without Carneol, with ease.

Oh, it's Merel there...

Upon seeing Ayano, Victor's blood rushes to all the right places. Victor uses a flawless topaz and moves forward. Victor uses a dodge. Initiative Victor (25) Garrett (15) Aiko (10) Ayano (10) Kalina (10) Keliandra (10) Kilika (10) Merel (10)
