Not at all. I'm not surprised because I've long lost track of your train of thought. But I am surprised by Alex, because he portrays himself as such a moral guy, and yet there's something so unexpected about him, haha.

The point is:
1) The person has no proof of their words. How can they prove that their promise isn't a hoax? Will they point to a random passerby and have them die?
2) If a person possesses such abilities, how can you know that they won't kill you if you choose a "third option"?
3) How can you know that the person isn't actually a higher being, testing people?
4) How can you be sure that killing this person will go unpunished? How can you be sure that you'll be able to pocket their money (they might transfer it to a bank account)?

Actually, I was mostly joking. I wouldn't kill anyone, by any means (buttons or no buttons), for any reason (except in truly hopeless situations). But for a certain type of person, I find the option quite appealing; it's a kind of social justice. After all, this person with the button, if you refuse them, might go on to ask other people. And if you know for sure that they're not crazy, and everything is real... someone will eventually press the button, and the person will die. Isn't it better to stop this situation at the root, in advance? And a million dollars is almost like not a robbery, but a fair reward for eliminating a particularly dangerous criminal. Well, and if it turns out that he can't be killed, or if there's punishment afterward, well, at least he'll feel like a real hero before he dies x) Worth it.
