Don't you understand that a GMO can't be the same? It's either stronger and more resistant to natural conditions and pests, or something else. This means that less chemicals are needed to treat it, or maybe it doesn't need to be treated with chemicals at all. Would you still choose the latter?
That's a valid argument. But I'm even more afraid of chemicals than GMOs. There are some not-so-useful fertilizers, and it's also not very pleasant when citrus fruits are sometimes coated with paraffin (a very strange practice), but overall... Wash them thoroughly and eat them without worry. And if you buy food at the market, the problem is even smaller; you don't expect any tricks from fellow farmers at a farmers' market.
