Lux, what isn't visible to the naked eye can be absolutely any light phenomenon related to the operation of the camera; this is obvious. Even now, the sensitivity of a user's camera cannot be compared to the sensitivity of a normal eye, which means the camera cannot see "hidden objects." But it can see dirt on the lens, all sorts of diffractions/interferences in all their manifestations (especially if the camera is film-based, which was common in 1996), and reflections from flashes.
