The 8th stage of the annual John Van Caneghem Tournament (2008).
He paid the price for it in this tournament by losing first place.
The word "paid the price" is not appropriate here. I deliberately refrained from competing for higher places because the fun of the game is much more important to me than the position I occupy. In the previous tournament for me in the fifth game, I didn't even spend 30 minutes replaying and trying to get a dozen more parameters. And here, I had to essentially create a walkthrough within a walkthrough – and that's only for money. Although Dirty Player doesn't agree with me, but that's not surprising, because he is not only an obvious perfectionist, but also, as far as I understand, knew the map much better and for much longer than all the other participants.
I didn't choose the second criterion, experience, for nothing; I thought it would be the most interesting and harmonious with the main task – to capture all the mines.
You know, I didn't understand your idea and didn't appreciate it. It seemed like there were talks about removing the third criterion because it leads to unnecessary loss of real time during the playthrough. And then, suddenly, the potentially most time-consuming criterion in my memory. Plus, it's not entirely clear what the starting hero's experience should represent in the game, but that's just my opinion.
