Might and Magic 6, 7, 8 Merge (MMMerge, "Merge 678", also called Might and Magic: the World of Enroth) is a fan mod that combines Might and Magic VI, VII and VIII into one game on the MM8 engine[1][1][1]. It was made by Rodril with GrayFace's MMExtension and first posted on the Celestial Heavens forum on 13 November 2017[1]. Its thread is the most-replied topic in that forum's Might and Magic section[1].
History
- Rodril introduced it on 13 November 2017 as a "merge of mm6, mm7, and mm8 on base of mm8 using MMExtension"; one of the first replies called such a merge "a lot of MM players' dream"[1].
- Rodril's versions are dated and come as full packs or lightweight patches; Tom Chen's updater brings any version from 2019-09-22 to 2020-08-16 up to date, and he also made a hotfix for 2020-08-16[1].
- Development spread across GitLab: a community branch from December 2019[1], Rodril's own branch from March 2020[1] and cthscr's Revamp from January 2020[1]. A links thread lists Rodril's packs from 3 June 2021 to the current pack of 5 November 2023[1].
- Rodril's latest patch is dated 30 October 2024, which is also the last commit on his nightly branch[1][1].
Gameplay
- The party travels between the three continents of MM6, MM7 and MM8; at certain points of each story the game tells the player to travel to another continent and explains why[1].
- The party can be filled up at the start or during play by hiring random followers[1].
- Monsters are "bolstered" to match high-level parties that have already finished one continent; this can be switched off or adjusted in the Controls menu[1].
- Snow and rain weather effects, also switchable[1]. The new-game menu uses a world map by Marcon Phoenix[1].
- MMGames.ru notes that monster pathfinding, later used in the MM7 Reimagined mod, had previously been implemented only in the Merge[1].
- The Revamp branch reworks races and classes: racial abilities depend on race and its "maturity" rather than on class, a Cavalier promotion was added for Knights in Jadame, and MM6 promotions work for humans[1]; MM8's Troll and Dark Elf classes become the Barbarian and the Deerslayer, whose ranks are renamed too (Troll becomes Berserker, Dark Elf becomes Pioneer)[1].
Installation
The pack is installed over the GOG version of Might and Magic VIII: copy the mod files into the game folder, apply the latest patch (30.10.2024) and set Windows XP SP2 compatibility for MM8.exe and MM8Setup.exe[1]. GrayFace's patch, MMExtension and MMEditor are already included and must not be applied on top[1].
Branches and derived mods
- Revamp by cthscr — still developed; its last commit is from 23 July 2026[1].
- Multiplayer for MMMerge by Rodril — from 14 May 2023, latest beta 30.09.2024; Rodril asks players to treat it "as experiment" rather than a mod that will be released[1].
- MAW by Malekitsu and team — began as an MM6 mod in December 2022[1]; the Merge version installs on top of the Merge, Rodril's patch and the multiplayer add-on, with version 4.0 out on 20 November 2025[1][1].
- Merge redone by DaveHer — replaces hundreds of textures, icons and sprites with HD images and adds 21 quests[1].
- Waffel Edition — built on the 30.10.2024 Merge and the July 2026 Revamp, started in February 2026[1].
- A port of the MM7 Rev4 mod for the Merge by Eksekk[1].
Translations
Rodril's post links German, Polish, Russian (by Alexeevdenis and by Maslyonok, including a version with Buka's video files), French, Czech and Spanish translations[1]; simplified and traditional Chinese packs are published separately[1]. Russian-speaking players keep the English name — DTF calls it the "Merge-мод"[1] and MMGames.ru "MM6-7-8 Merged"[1].
