Hello everyone! Could you please tell me if it's possible to play Heroes 2 online? We set up Hamachi with a friend, connected via TCP\IP, and it seems like the game is working. Everything is fine, but there's one problem – every few minutes, the game crashes, either on my end or his. We both have Windows XP. Is there a way to prevent the game from crashing? Maybe we should try using DOS mode?

First, is your version of the game the same? It's also important to know if you have a licensed copy!
Second, find the .exe file of the game and, in its properties, set it to be compatible with Windows 98. Check how the ping is working; is it dropping? (There's a bug in Hamachi; it's easy to check: double-click on the nickname of the person you're playing with. If the packets are going through without loss, then everything is fine).
Third, you can also try using DOS, but setting up the network between the two of you will be very difficult. You'll need either a ready-made program (like Hamachi) or very skilled technical knowledge (which, in our case, is unlikely).

Well, what can I say? If the game simply crashes without any apparent reason, it indicates a critical error. There aren't many versions, and older programs are very sensitive to data transfer over the network. I would advise you to buy a licensed copy of "Heroes of Might and Magic" from Ubisoft – the so-called "Platinum Edition." It comes without a disc, and you can install it for yourself and your friend, and then you can play together. There shouldn't be any errors. If you're trying to save money but have internet access, download the latest patches; they might fix the error.

Hmm... I don't think it's a fatal error. I used to play the same game with a friend in DUNE 2000, and it turned out to be an incompatibility issue with the modems, and also in StarCraft. I play. It happens through your server on Hamachi, and then you go into Network, and as usual, you choose whether you're the host or the guest, and that's it. If you're the guest, you enter the IP address, and then you play.

Now there's another problem. I changed computers, but the system is the same (XP, SP2), the game versions are identical, and we're connecting via GPRS (it works fine for Epoch). We're using Hamachi. When connecting, we manage to establish a connection, but when I join the game, it freezes, and the host gets a data transfer error. What could be the problem? We both set compatibility mode for Windows 98, and our systems and game versions are the same.
