In a real winter, half of the time is spent at around zero temperature. Fluctuations in high/low humidity, the presence/absence of wind, the presence/absence, brrr, of slush – all of this makes real winter noticeably worse and also increases the problems with adapting to the weather. Perhaps, for me, this is the most noticeable downside of winter; the rest are more or less correctable to some extent.

We went far outside the city (to the Yaroslavl region), and I, being naive, decided to go for a run, and as a result, I ran away from a Huge Swarm of Horseflies, and I sprinted, although I was going to jog. They also sense the smell and heat and fly in even more from all around.
You need to live in Lapland, and then you can love summer. Heat – well, occasionally, and conversely, the sun warms you up, and that’s nice... Insects? Forget about them. Yard trash? What yard trash? What yard? The nearest neighbors live five kilometers away; there’s no one nearby except for reindeer... That’s awesome.
