I laughed at how successful Crimson Dawn was. Oh well, not a single Shunyin, and I was really hoping for one.

Am I correct in understanding that at the beginning of the thread, our masks are listed, but how they relate to the factions and abilities is still unknown? However, there is some logic to it, and like in a detective story, one can guess, right?
And then, you post the cards in the thread that are already randomly assigned to the masks and, consequently, the roles?

If everything I wrote is correct, then this ND actually works to verify the correspondence between the masks and the factions, such as town/mafia/man?

In short, Randel was a lucky rogue, one of the non-player characters who joined our party. He had a completely random set of skills, but he still managed to survive every predicament. Moreover, he regularly won large sums of money or somehow acquired funds, which he soon squandered on gambling, drinking, drugs, and prostitutes. In Ilthan, he bought a statuette and almost immediately used it, inadvertently linking his life to the lives of the other members of the party. If he dies, we die. If we die, he sells our equipment and moves on. We had to force him to drink the Tears of Iris, bought in the same city, to change his fate. As a result, he lost all his skills, got offended, took the money, and left for Arinasai (the local Las Vegas). There, he died of a drug overdose. And Telani was a crazy elf hunter who pretended to be in love with Heroist. In reality, he only needed Heroist's head. Before that, he secretly set traps for us, but Heroist survived them (due to being a vampire). Ment was not so lucky. At a crucial moment, near the end of the expedition, he successfully tricked and paralyzed Heroist, after which he fled to Melkoria with his head in a bag. Since "Crimson Dawn" was created by Heroist, and almost all of the original members of the party were dead (except for Tingor and Dalia), it quickly fell apart. Tingor wanted to live peacefully, and Dalia was of even less concern to the leadership of this group of doomed individuals.

Oh, and do you remember James Odd, that Kalevrite, who defeated the Namhani, Jarevik? Remember, he had a top-tier sword? Well, Odd signed up for the tournament, but was defeated by a random NPC in the qualifying round (the NPC took "Caralia"). The random NPC quickly gained a name, a personality, and became one of the tournament favorites. And James died.

I haven't read the expansion details, so it's hard to understand everything now.

Understanding this isn't necessary for playing Mafia. The only thing that matters for those interested in the role-playing element is that it's warm and comfortable inside the city, while it's cold and hungry outside its walls.

Does this ND actually work to check the consistency of masks and sides, like city/mafia/neutral?

This role simply narrows down the circle of suspects from the previous murder.
A role dies, and on the next night, they go to the murder scene and learn one of two types of information (by choice) about the killer, thus reducing the number of suspects. It's like a check, but it works differently.

Any thoughts on balance, or suggestions? I have an idea to give the town's sharpshooter a one-time ultimate ability to ignore redirects and a similar action for the neutral.

In my opinion, it's complete nonsense; decent dwarves and kobolds stay home on Saturdays and play Mafia :D
