The first long-awaited tournament on mirror templates

Spirit and idea of the tournament

Since the times of VT, everyone has been expecting an adaptation of mirror templates for SoD. And now it has happened. Here there is minimum room for "luck" and maximum opportunity to demonstrate your "skill".
Forward!

The tournament prize pool is 15000р. For first place – 8000, second – 4000, third – 2000, and 1000 rubles will go as a people's choice award.

I. Registration and Regulations:
a) The tournament starts on July 17, 2015.
b) Registration is open until July 16, 18:00 MSK.
c) The tournament bracket and system of conduct will be determined after registration closes depending on the number of participants.
d) In the event of a large number of registrants, a bracket option will be chosen to conduct qualifying games in the shortest possible time and weed out most participants so that only truly experienced players participate in further struggles and the tournament does not stretch over time.
e) To participate in the tournament, it is necessary by the end of registration to have at least 5 played and confirmed games on ХВ. Also, recently registered ХВ members who do not meet the requirement for the number of played games may participate if they are sponsors of the tournament (contribution of at least 1000 rubles to the fund) and have no past violations of portal rules.
f) The group stage deadline is until 31.08.2015.
g)The upper and lower bracket finals are played bo3 (one match diamond + h3dm1, if a 3rd match is necessary, a coin toss).
The Grand Final is played bo5, with a score of 1-0 in favor of the player from the upper bracket.

II. Rules and Templates:
a) By default, games are on version HoTA (1.3.8)+HD-mod with the HW-Rules 1.34 patch connected; by agreement, opponents may play SoD.
b) Color and the right to choose a hero are negotiated (therefore red-rush is allowed). First, castles are determined (in the case of mirror templates, it is the same), then negotiations for color and hero follow alternately.
c) Each player has the right to cross out 1 undesirable castle, as well as 1 hero before the start of negotiation for them (may choose not to use this right), after which a ban on these castles is set in HW-Rulz mode and a random 1-castle generator is launched. The game will be played with this castle.
d) The template for the game is chosen from two existing "mirrors": "mir_Diamond", "mir_h3dm1" by agreement; if an agreement cannot be reached, the choice is made by a coin toss in hw-rulz. 1 - h3dm1, 0 - mir_Diamond.
e) "Hit-and-run" is prohibited.
f) There is 1 subjective restart and objective restarts (restart due to a block (inability to leave the castle) or a severe generation bug).
g) Roads are medium.
h) It is forbidden to steal anything other than resources and chests from guards that have been shifted, or to visit objects (except mills) that do not have their own internal guards.
i) The use of diplomacy is prohibited except for paying off enemies.
j) Game timer is chess: 21+8,30+1,15. Starting difficulty - 160%.
k) Use of in-game bugs described in the rules on ХВ and various kinds of cheat codes is prohibited.
l) The main rule is game ethics and a respectful attitude toward the opponent.
m) Everything that is not forbidden by the rules is allowed.
n) For SoD, any building is allowed; however, in captured villages and towns, building an additional necromancy amplifier is prohibited, except in the starting town.
o) ДД no more than 1 time per day regardless of the "Air" skill level.

III. Organizational Issues:
a) The tournament is unofficial.
b) The tournament is conducted according to the Rules for organizing, conducting, and participating in HOMM3 online tournaments.
c) Tournament leaders and judges – Redwhait HP (658339987), KobRa_RR (286406830), Toganash (564224919). Chief judge - Dirty_Player (ICQ 408722873).
d) Leaders have the right to make any changes to the regulations and rules during the tournament, as well as the right to refuse participation to any player without a public explanation of reasons.
e) For each played game, participants must submit a report and confirmation.
f) Saves of all games must be kept until the end of the tournament and presented upon the first request of the tournament leader or judge.
g) The judicial decision is made primarily based on the tournament rules. If the situation that arose is not regulated by the rules, judges are guided by basic logic and game ethics.
h) All tournament games go into the seasonal rating. Reports and confirmations are written in this thread and will be copied to the "Online game reports and their confirmations" thread.

Good luck, and may skill win!!!

The unfinished game saw one player heading in one direction, as the other had a small ranged unit block, and he never returned. In the adjacent desert zone, he found 3 or 4 archer stashes and a castle village. With the reinforcements, he ended up with around 70 of them and, along with his own units, started clearing out the area. He captured a couple of computer-controlled towns, one of which had information, and managed to build up to 117 pits. On the second town, he gathered more resources, summoned 40 horned demons, and moved into a zone on a different plane. The turn changed to 122, and then the first of the memorable situations occurred: synchronization happened. The opponent had a lot of units in different locations, while I was running around with my weak heroes to deal with them. In the end, there were 12 (or so) demons and some more units left. There was some unclaimed Pandora's Box and a lot of income from the towns, as well as an unclaimed zone on my side (where his resources were coming from). We agreed to continue from there, but The_ forgot his save password at work again and said that if it was really important, he could surrender so we could immediately continue with the disputed fifth game. That's what we did. Thanks for the game.

It was a terrible start; I gave up color at the trade to get the hero advantage, but the opponent gets an antagonist hero—Kreg. I noticed the hut with the log too late, and somehow there was no opportunity to break things down properly, so I ran without a log until level 15+. Throughout the first week, it wasn't really possible to fight effectively with Mepha across the chains, so she felt like a zero. Then, at 117, Kreg entered the line of sight/reach on my plane; I had more power since I invested in Nixs in addition to rogues. After a small trade of creatures + money, we split up. At the start of the second week, I had to trade to 0 just to buy supplies, and with an almost zero Mepha, I went to hit 50+ gold golems. I managed to kill them quite normally, but then there was magic... and Mepha wasn't just without wisdom, she didn't even have a book; the sadness knew no bounds. Well, I shook up a couple of hives and started collecting all the Pandoras, which brought in some experience, after which I went to the Griffin Conservatory, which the opponent had taken 2-3 turns earlier. However, his zone scouting with 2 utopians failed, so it turned out that both he and I managed to devour them; they gave wings + a few stats. Then there was a lot of running around, but thanks to the wings, I managed to snag a Dimension Door scroll!! In a place where you'd never go without fly; this played into my hands. But in the end, control is control, yet the "fattest" meat zones turned out to be where the opponent had been running, so when we met on the fourth week, I felt discouraged. On top of that, I was exposed to "papa" Kiryu with boots and an army on a same-level map, but he could only reach me via vivers through the swamp, which is what he did; his magic killed off a significant amount of my troops before I had to buy them back, as I fell slightly short of hitting him immediately... then came a difficult turn, which was controversial due to an HD mod bug-lag. In the end, having closed the passage, the opponent had to buy back vivers and regroup his army, but he decided to cut a couple of stacks with magic; an explosion flies, but the resistance skill wasn't taken for nothing and it triggers! However, the opponent didn't resist Armageddon (even though there were 15% boots), nor the subsequent blindness on the last stack of vivers. After that, it was just a matter of technique: slow, berserk; the vivers never became controllable. Not without some luck, but victory!
The final score, including the point from the winners' bracket, is 3-2 in my favor. Thanks to the opponents for the games and to the organizers for the Tournaments! :smile49:

Congratulations on the victory, Anton! I also want to congratulate Timur on his well-deserved second place. I don't think anyone believed he would even make it to the losers' bracket final, but he managed to advance through the upper bracket to the grand final and was just one step away from victory.

I don't remember the start details and trades very well, but I remember that I declined building birds because of their price tag, put down psychs and focused on tempo, then built birds in a Stronghold captured on 112. Thanks to Gunnar, after taking the first consulate, I quickly devoured 2 treasure zones, one of which had Pandora for all air units; knowing how to get into it on another plane, I immediately ran there. In the end, having eaten 4 identical treasure zones, I got a DD fly by the time the opponent arrived; I had already eaten his treasure zones and had an advantage in both stats and meat. Based on the revealed number of angels, I realized he hadn't taken the max consulate at the Stronghold respawn, although the opponent surprised me with the presence of TP. Since he didn't take the consulate, it turned out possible to jump to it with control; I jumped, but the opponent had already taken it like a noob—though that's where he stayed. There was no money for the buyout, thanks for the game.

In the reverse match, my opponent got a lucky draw with a logistics unit, and my heroes weren't leveling up very well. I saw that things weren't going well and took a risk by placing my main hero in a vulnerable position for a speed boost (although he only had one spell left). My opponent took advantage of this and, after some maneuvering, attacked on the last few turns. Unfortunately, he managed to reach my main hero. My only hope was that he was out of mana or mass magic. My hopes were not fulfilled, and with his attack and decent stats, I lost due to the slow speed. Thanks for the game.

The starting heroes were assigned randomly; I don't remember which ones. Basically, I leveled up the logistics skill, which gave me a few days' advantage. Plus, I found a Town Portal in a shrine, while my opponent didn't. Thanks for the game.

Using 2 Necromancer secondary units, I successfully positioned myself on the opponent's side of the map, captured a dungeon, sent a unit for scouting, and attacked on the next turn. The advantage in Cyclops units made a difference. Thank you for the game.

Thank you for the game.

The first week was not easy, but after taking a gorgon dwelling, things went smoothly. I took 3 neighboring towns, then 5x30 conscripts at 121, after that I split the army in two. I wanted to take 2 more cons and potentially 2-3 hives before visiting topes, but the opponent gave up at 123. GG WP :)

Opponent #114 wrote in the game chat, left the game, and forfeited. When asked about the reason for leaving and asked to provide a password, there was no response. Apparently, he was losing badly, with 50-99 lizards attacking near his town, which prompted the opponent to concede.

Thank you for the game!
