I don't understand either where he got the second Roland from. In the Might and Magic universe, I only remember one Roland who: won the war against the Kreegans, had an evil brother named Archibald, his wife was named Catherine, and he had a son named Kolya.

All plot inconsistencies are essentially in the Chronicles. And the fact that there are characters with the same name isn't a big deal. In all parts, it was confirmed that these characters with the same name are different people (except, perhaps, for Alamar the Warlock from the lineage of the former ruler of Varna 4 and Alamar the Warlock, a supporter of Archibald; this is the only serious blunder by NWC (plot inconsistencies in the Chronicles - 3DO, not NWC)). The second Roland is one of the rulers of the Darkside of Xeen.

Here. And in the case of Krag Hak, Ethric, and Sandra, there are many references in SoD that these pairs of namesakes are different characters. Alamar from M&M1 and Alamar, who fought with Ironfist, are ancestor and descendant, because M&M1 is several millennia later than HoMM1, and Varn 4 from M&M1 is the Enrothian Varn in Dragon's Sands. The only serious inconsistency is how Alamar from Enroth remained young for so long (over forty years).

Yes, I meant Prince Roland from Might and Magic: World of Xeen. He was supposed to marry Queen Kalindra to unite both sides of Xeen, but he was eventually captured by Alamar (who was Sheltem).

In Heroes 4, the description of Gem says that she drank water from a magic spring and did not age for about 80 years, but after the Reckoning, she lost her immortality.

Yeah. But Archibald was in exile on a small island near Erathia at that time. I'm afraid he died.

Enroth is also gone. Nikolai is in Axeoth. The Ironfists were also in Enroth before the Reckoning.

Gem was not immortal. The spring simply extended her life and greatly slowed down her aging during that time. A small spoiler: in Regeneration, we will say more about this spring and how it is connected to Alamar (how he didn't age) and Gem.

In M&M3 and 7, Crag Hack and Varna have red hair and beards. Crag Hack from Enroth does not have red hair. And yes, as Mugais said, he looks like a dwarf. In M&M3, he is originally a dwarf. But in M&M7, since the race of the characters in M&M3 is not tied to the plot, he was made a human, and Resurrectra was made an elf. The Z.I.P. are equal to the Ancients, by the way, but this cannot be said about Crag Hack from SoD, and Crag Hack from Varna could not have been in Enroth during SoD (Demilich made a mistake, as the Z.I.P. arrived in Enroth around 1167). Apparently, one of the purposes of SoD in NWC's plans was to confirm that Crag Hack and Sandro from Enroth and Crag Hack from Varna and Sandro from Xeen are different characters, respectively.
