Posts from The fourth stage of the "Van Kanighem" tournament.
Unfortunately, the links don't work... Perhaps, if it's not too much trouble, you could post these texts here on the forum... and in this thread, provide a link to the corresponding topic...
P.S. Sign me up too... I'll try my hand at it...
Sincerely.
The links are unavailable due to the heroes.ag resource being currently down. You have been accepted, good luck in the tournament.
Тьма - это то, что позволяет смертным не забывать, как ярок бывает свет.
Romanuel, I also don't have much experience with Heroes 4, so what now? Shall we compete for second to last place?
It's worth a try... By the way, does anyone have information about the 4 heroes in a single file??? I don't have time to browse the internet, but I can read it calmly at work and on my way.
Added 1 minute ago Hmm, I didn't insert the quote correctly - it immediately reminds me of the great joke about the "crooked_hands.sys" file.
A question arose. If you open the map, will all saves then load with the opened map? The code can be canceled, but will the program "remember" it and won't it indicate at the end of the playthrough that the save is cheated? In other words, is it possible to open and close the map in a clean playthrough?
Okay, that's great, but how will I determine who closed it before the final save, and who did it in the same turn as they used it? If a cheater is detected in the final stage, then it's a cheater... Guys, I understand everything, but there's no other option here...

Well, that's great, but how will I determine who closed it before the final save, and who did it in the same turn as they used it? If the game detects cheating in the finale, then it means the player cheated... Guys, I understand everything, but there's no other way...
:) The fourth game won't flag you as a cheater at the end. I've already tried to explain this to you. Let's say you completed a battle using cheat codes. Then you save. You load the save. And you finish the game. At the end, it will say that everything is fine - you are not a cheater :) Check it yourself if you don't believe me. If you use a cheat in the LAST battle and it's the final battle, then it will say that you are a cheater. Therefore, you can cheat throughout the entire game - the main thing is to finish the last battle without cheating (save before it). :) I think all players of the fourth game should know this. Therefore, the question arises about checking the description and saves. Since you didn't know this, maybe you don't know this either? Take a save from the end of the day, go to the menu to view the turn, and start watching the replay of how the player moved the units. During the replay, there is a pause - the spacebar button. Press it. During the pause, you can use the mouse as usual in the game. You can look at the Fortress, the unit screen, see how much of everything is left in the inventory, and even, I think, the remaining turns of the hero and units - although I'm not sure about this. Unfortunately, there is no replay for battles. :) That's why I told you that there are battles that can be completed using any means (if they are guaranteed to be winnable), but first, you need to loop such a battle - I wrote about this in the tournament discussions. The reviewer, while watching the replay, looks at what the hero had (mana, damage, potions) before the battle, and what is left after the battle. Accordingly, if the battle is winnable according to the description, and after the battle, everything that was needed for the battle has been used, then what difference does it make whether the player finished this battle with their hands or feet? It would be better, of course, to use their head - but even then, you won't be able to check or prove anything. So, why force people to engage in sadomasochism?!
PS. Regarding the question of revealing the map. Play the entire game with the map open, but before the finale, disable the cheat, save. Load from this save and finish the game. And see for yourself what it will say to you before you send the save
Thanks, that’s reassuring.
However, in contested battles, it’s possible to request intermediate saves, rather than just relying on a single description like, “My troops’ morale triggered 56 times in a row.” :smile03:
