I think over all ten seasons I'll actually learn to understand spoken English well, yay.
And guys, the effect of the original voice acting is just stunning; you look at the characters through completely different eyes. No matter how great the localized voice actor is, the original image will still be distorted—certain intonations, voices, and accents are lost. I mean, damn, in the original, Londo from "Babylon" has such a funny way of speaking, but the translation didn't convey that at all. In short, dubbing is fine, but for full immersion, the original is still better. And this doesn't just apply to English.

And since I'm watching Stargate, yes—the first seasons are the best; later the series will slide into repetitions, recycling old ideas instead of generating new ones, it'll be cluttered with a bunch of secondary characters, and a moment will come when expanding the universe is replaced by simply oversaturating it and all that. Also, at some point, the team composition will change, and then twice over. These guys are the best and most canonical lineup; once I finish watching, I'll definitely talk about each of them in the favorite characters thread (well, you already know Sam is a cutie, but she's not the only one).



P.S. If anyone knows any worthwhile space series, feel free to suggest some. Just not "Firefly"—I started watching it once and couldn't get past two episodes. And no need for "Farscape," I've already been recommended that; it's in the queue. And if you suggest "Doctor Who," I'll just start laughing like crazy, because that's already my favorite series.

IMHO, it's a classic Bond film (it seems like they were aiming for that with the previous film as well), but they also made fun of the classic tropes in a good way. The audience was laughing almost the whole time.

Well, what can I say. If you don't take the genre into account (I can't say I'm a fan of comics), then 8/10. Especially against the backdrop of the recent... stellar... failure.
The graphics are good, there's a plot (which is rare these days), there's practically no pathos, the screenwriters made fun of everything they could reach, even the nerds; the actors did a great job, they acted, rather than just being present in the frame: the main villain turned out to be more like a villain than a hysteric, the girlfriend of the main character, who was supposed to play the role of a pretty piece of furniture, turned out to be not just furniture, the cute Iron Man nicely moralized and tried to guide the protagonist on the path of Good, and the protagonist just as nicely fended off the well-wisher with jokes and quips. I also liked the Indian guy - they conveyed the nationality well: all these flower garlands in the car, Indian songs on the radio, and enemies in the trunk - it's like going back to India.
The content is really "for adults," I'm not sure about 18+, but I would give it a 15+ rating myself. However, this didn't spoil my impression of the film.

It's hard to remember everything I was thinking while watching, so I'll just mention a few details now.
First, Luke Skywalker is an idiot. If in the expanded universe he is portrayed as a very wise man and the strongest Force user ever, then here he is just nobody. The yellow text tells us that the Last Jedi™ is missing and the republic is desperately trying to find him, and then it tells us that without a Jedi, the balance of the Force will never be stable. And then it turns out that he started training a new generation of Jedi (as a person like him should), and then one of his students cut down the other students, and LUKE WAS A LITTLE UPSET, AFTER WHICH HE DECIDED TO GIVE UP EVERYTHING. And this, considering the above and the "need for him." And not only that, because he trained a student who turned to the dark side and just didn't care. He doesn't care, I'll go somewhere to be a hikikomori, it's not my business, let the son of my friend and sister do whatever he wants (and eventually even kill his father). The movie also doesn't say, but the main heroine is supposedly (almost certainly) his daughter, which adds a new point: he left her at a young age on a poor and unfavorable planet with some random weirdos.

Now there's Kylo Ren. Nice, they took the design from Revan. In general, it turned out to be some kind of misunderstanding. Jason or Jaina Solo, now those were characters.

The heroine, who grew up on a harsh planet from an early age and later scavenged for scrap to sell, suddenly decides to stand up for some random droid, tells him where to go, and then tries to just leave. And only after that, already in the city, she is very surprised that you can get much more for a perfectly good droid than for some debris from many years ago and barely restrains herself from selling it. Woohoo.

Oh yeah, and about the droid, even when it was found, almost no one took the map from it until the very end, it just lay in its body, and the villains tirelessly searched for the "droid" and not, in fact, the map.
It also coincided that the Millennium Falcon was stolen and brought to the same planet where Luke left his daughter, and that Han Solo flew to pick it up just on the day when Rey and Finn were trying to escape the planet. Oh, right, I almost forgot, the antagonists were trying to airstrike two unarmed people. But, in this paragraph, I'm probably being too picky - here, rather, the general trait of Lucas manifests itself, whose stormtroopers, who were supposed to be professional soldiers, shot as if they were holding a weapon in their hands for the first time in their lives. In the new trilogy, by the way, they tried to move away from this rather stupid theme, and the clones were not such losers. But, of course, "returning to the roots" always means preserving everything bad and getting rid of everything good.

What else, ah... TAKE THIS LIGHTSABER. IT BELONGED TO LUKE, AND BEFORE HIM, TO HIS FATHER - HE CUT CHILDREN WITH IT :)

There is also the main (as far as I understand) antagonist - Snoke. What kind of name is that? Seriously, no matter how many times I hear it, I can't stop laughing at how stupid it sounds, especially if it's supposed to be the name of a powerful Sith. Vader. Revan. Sidious. Darth Nihilus. Darth Revan. Those are names. SNOKE. Snoke sounds like the name, no, the pseudonym of some gangster lackey.

And the most important thing. There's this wannabe Sith, son of Han Solo, he trained first with Luke and then with this Snoke, and what does that mean? He allowed a stormtrooper to injure him in a lightsaber duel and completely lost to a girl who was holding the weapon in her hands for the first time. Yes, he was injured, but so what? Since when has the art of lightsaber combat degraded to mindless swinging of blades?

In general, I won't even rate this.

Oh, oh, stop stop stop. I remembered one more thing. Imperial fighters. SINCE WHEN ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO HAVE TWO PILOTS? SINCE WHEN DO PILOTS NOT NEED TO WEAR A HELMET TO BREATHE? If I remember correctly, even the republican pilots in their X-wings were shown with open faces only to create a dramatic effect, and here they are sitting without anything at all. Apparently, there is a lot of oxygen in space.
