It depends on who goes first... The Mage might not have time to cast spells.

The monks will have lower speed. The mage will have higher speed. Sometimes you have fewer angels than your opponent. And there are also crusaders. They are the ones who will deal with them. Although the angels will be dealing with the monks, and the crusaders with the angels. :D

I'm not saying the monks will hit the mage, because you can still hit him with your angels, ballistas (if there are any), or crossbowmen.
It's unlikely you'll have both crusaders and monks at once... and angels can be killed by squires or spearmen. And it's unlikely the angels will be able to fly straight to the monks...

Then, just take a 4-week growth period as a basis (for example) and create one army with monks and another with crusaders in the editor. And conduct battles with the computer, against yourself. Crusaders will turn out to be more useful.

Do you mean 4 monks against 4 knights? I've played with 8 vs. 8, 4 vs. 4, and even 400 vs. 400. The knights win. Now I'll try adding a small army to each side.
