This also surprises me... He's like a fully upgraded hero. And the Death Knight with his unlimited terror is also very strong!

BASON, there can't be three most useful units by definition. Because this is a strategy game, and usefulness here is determined by many factors. "Trump" units on one map may turn out to be completely useless on another.
I would put djinns in second place, unless the opponent has high magic resistance.
And I would put cyclops in third place. It's very advantageous to deal high area damage and not take return damage from enemy archers.
1. Djinn (15)
2. Vampire (10)
3. Black Dragon (6)
4. Magic Dragon (5),
5. Mantis (4),
6. Water Elemental (3), Ghost (3), Fairy (3)
7. Titan (2), Angel (2), Minotaur (2)
8. Tiger (1), Leprechaun (1), Devil (1), Thief (1), Cyclops (1)
Changes: Vampire started catching up to Djinn, and Cyclops appeared in the ranking.
I think that the most useful unit in the game is the vampire. On the battlefield, it restores its health (it's practically immortal). It moves quite well (quickly and far). And if the hero has necromancer skills, new vampires join the army after each battle. Even though its price is slightly higher!
It's easy to defeat a Vampire with magic. And generally, slowing him down is enough for a complete victory. By the time he reaches you, he probably won't survive. That's why I find a Crusader and a Djinn useful against the undead.:D
I would say that archers are the best counter against slowed vampires! But it's problematic to get a slowing effect for Life. Maybe try a potion...
