and there weren't any pure Wolf units in the third game either, only Riders =)
When the young man says "with the Barbarians from the very beginning," he means in the first two parts... As for the fourth game, it's not really a "Heroes" game for me, and I don't want to remember the nonsensical migration of all creatures to its castles (orcs and centaurs, for example, were complete nonsense).

I agree here... a drawback of the fourth game is that many monsters were moved to other castles... but overall, the fourth game is a step forward for the Heroes series.)
I generally don't like when animals are placed in castles in games (for example, wolves in Heroes)... they should be neutral (like wolves and bears in Disciples)... or they should create riders (for example, dwarves in Heroes, and dwarves in AoW2)...
P.S. This doesn't apply to mythical animals (unicorns, etc.)...

Well, I wouldn't say that... I think that the 4th part is the coolest, and the IDEAL version of Heroes is the graphics of the 5th part + everything else from the 4th.

The graphics in Heroes 5 are far superior to those in Heroes 4 - there, it's still not a three-dimensional space, and you can't rotate the map. Millions :smile07: - if you come up with something like that, you're a genius! Even God wouldn't be able to come up with something that involves millions and isn't just a clone.
So, Nival is releasing its last expansion pack, so what's the point in guessing how many factions there will be? There will be 8, and that's it. :D
Last or not, it's nice to dream. Besides, just because they say it's the last one doesn't mean anything. Perhaps, according to Ubisoft's plans, the orc expansion is the last one, but the fans' dissatisfaction may soon cause a reaction, such as the release of another unplanned expansion. After all, Ubisoft has already shared a lot of information about the scope of the Heroes project on all the forums, and someone will be very unhappy with the saga ending with only 8 factions.

Yeah, you're right about that, but don't you want to dream about the 6th installment? After all, the end of add-on production foreshadows the start of work on the sixth game. :)

The more, the better, but don't overdo it! In general, a large number of factions can create balance issues (like in Warlords Battlecry III, for example). But in my opinion, the minimum number should be "9 factions: 3 good + 3 evil + 3 neutral".
In my opinion, 9-10 factions would be ideal. BUT...
I don't know what faction could be added to Heroes 5 after the Barbarians (considering which factions already exist) without resorting to cloning... :smile32:
We shouldn't forget that Heroes is based on a certain "fantasy world," and you can't just throw anyone into it. And this world is different from D&D. ;)
And then there are various other thoughts... (IMHO)
1. Elementals are not a faction. They don't live together; they all exist separately in their own "elemental planes."
2. The world of "Heroes" has changed since the 3rd installment and "Might and Magic 7," which corresponded to it, because, as I understand it, a global apocalypse occurred, and everything mixed up (including the concept of the "Dungeon" with its Beholders, Medusas, and Minotaurs, which is related to Nihon from Might and Magic 7). That Dungeon was the opposite of the "Tower" - Wizards were opposed to Warlocks. In Heroes 5, the Academy/Necropolis completely disrupts this scheme.
3. Away with the beasts from the castles! :D
In short, based on what has been said: 8 factions (as they are currently planning) is the best, if not the only option (with the approach to balance that "Nival" presented). And diversity should be introduced through alternative upgrades (damn, I agree with the developers :) ) and by increasing the number of neutral units (and coming up with more ways to recruit/interact with them so that they fit properly into the racial balance)...
That's my IMHO:smile13:
I was just thinking... What if, for example, Heroes 6 had around 4 factions, but they were very carefully and thoroughly developed – abilities, balance, unique heroes and magic, characteristics, and development paths. And, of course, lots of neutral creatures. For example: humans and Necropolis, demons and elves. It doesn't matter which ones.
How would you feel about the game? Assuming that the number of factions would increase with an expansion pack?
I think we'll find out the answer to your question, gamehuntera, very soon... because Disciples 3 is coming out in the fall, where the number of factions has been reduced from 5 (the second part with the elf expansion) to 3 (specifically unique and balanced... that's what the developers say). And then, if the game sells well, the number will increase in the expansions.

Yes, Alan is right – Heroes with 4 factions will be more similar to Disciples, and having too many factions wouldn't work, simply because I haven't seen such a large number of factions in any game where it's still interesting and they aren't just clones of each other... it's just not possible. Let the expansion come out, and then maybe a couple more factions can be added, but after that, it's time to stop – if they release more expansions, it should only be to further develop the existing factions or simply improve the game.

Having many factions is certainly a good thing, and the faction creator is interesting, but 8 is just the right number! But I would also like them to add "Swamp" as the ninth and final faction! And also add 9 players (colors black, gray, or pink) to the scenarios (if the Swamp faction is added)!
