"Hmm3 Streamer's Cup"

Greetings friends, to the first tournament for streamers of our beloved third heroes. Despite a rather limited number of participants, I believe this tournament will not leave either players or, even more so, viewers indifferent...

I. Registration, regulations and deadlines.

1. The tournament will be conducted using the Full Double Elimination system for 16 people (in case of a larger number of registrants, there will be a cull based on the organizer's subjective view)
2. Tournament start: 6 March 2015.
3. Registration until 5 March inclusive. Applications for participation are left in this thread
4. Time for each round is 2 weeks.
5. A prize pool is provided for the tournament; its starting value is 5 thousand rubles, which will all go to first place. If there are additional contributions to the prize pool during the tournament and they exceed the 1 thousand ruble mark, the distribution of additional donations will be according to the standard system of 3 prize places (50, 30, 20%)

II. Rules and templates.

1. By default, games are played according to seasonal rules. Version for play SoD 3.2 (4.0) +HD-mod with the HW-Rules patch connected; tents, forts and cartographers - checked; built second level and obelisks - disabled.
2. Game templates: 8mm6a, 8хм12а, Jebus cross, 8xm8a, Spider.
3. Template selection - standard draft, blue starts, last choice is red's.
4. Castle selection - non-standard draft (one of the donation conditions is the exclusion of Swamp from the starting pool as a castle); red player starts from the remaining 8 castles (as if giving the first draft to blue for swamp), therefore the draft procedure is slightly modified - that is, the first choice of castle remains with the blue player.
5. Total number of restarts (113), i.e., 111+111+111, 111+112, 113
6. Game timer - chess clock
7. JC - only fast roads; other templates are fast + medium.
8. Most importantly, a mandatory tournament rule: every participant is obliged to broadcast every one of their games via a stream channel (not TV, not Hamachi, but a full broadcast via the corresponding streaming site)

III. Organizational issues.

1. The tournament is conducted according to the Rules for organization, conduct and participation in HOMM3 online tournaments
2. Tournament leader and judge - HellLighT, ICQ - 649566490.
3. The organizer reserves the right to refuse tournament participation to a user without public explanation of reasons.
4. For each played game, participants must submit a report and confirmation.
5. Saves of all games must be kept until the end of the tournament and presented upon the first request of the tournament leader or judge.
6. The judicial decision is made primarily based on the tournament rules. If the situation that has arisen is not regulated by the rules, the judges are guided by basic logic and gaming ethics.

IV. Transfer details.

To everyone who wants to support the tournament (prize pool) not with words, but with own kind money, I leave the transfer details (please specify hmm3 in the transfer comment if possible).

Got Gosha and decided to play. Got perfect skills apart from missing log. Went to t-area late week 2 and spent almost a week there without finding much. But had 25% necro arts so could make a good amount of skells. I got DD from Tower guild and after that things would have happend fast in new t-area since I also saw boots and there were 5 topes. Had a strong necro army since I found some high level dwells. Anyway opponent decided to give up. TFP.
Confirm. Tfp

Let's play as soon as possible, everyone stop wasting time. The main thing is intrigue, not exploits.

Okay, the winner will have to wait half a year for the next one.
This is when there are 16 people in the bracket from the start, and what will happen in the favorites section? Luckily, there are casual players who aren't in a hurry :D
I think it's time to abandon this system. In my opinion, it's better to play a regular Olympic-style tournament, but with a best-of-three format starting at a certain stage.

The Swiss system, with the option of free opponent selection before the draw, has proven to be the most efficient. That's how Vic did it in the World Tournament (and then I did too). For example, if both players have 3 wins, they can agree to play each other in the 4th round – they play, if someone objects, they wait for the draw. I don't see a problem.

I don't think this system is fair enough; it could lead to arguments and searching for a weaker opponent. The draw should be for everyone at once, IMO.

But a "weaker" opponent still has to agree to play against a "stronger" opponent.

The only abuse here is two weaker players finding each other.

But this is only possible in the early rounds and doesn't affect the list of winners.

IMO, the advantages in terms of a more compact game schedule and reduced conflicts clearly outweigh this.

We can also look at this from another angle: players who play matches faster than others will play against each other, and those who prefer to play more casually will play against each other. I don't see any advantage in active players playing several rounds ahead and then waiting a month for the casual players.

We can look at this from a different angle: players who play matches faster than others will play against each other, and those who prefer to take their time will play against each other. I don't see any advantage in active players playing several rounds ahead and then waiting a month for the slow players.
The distinction between active and slow players is quite arbitrary; the same player might play quickly in one situation and take their time in another. Again, due to various trips and commitments, sometimes it's necessary to play a round or two in advance.

And there's a psychological aspect: players who don't want to engage in arguments about who "griefed" more might blame not only their opponent but also themselves when they find themselves in such a situation. And blaming oneself is beneficial in life.

Kreg was still there; together with Gurni they grabbed the log. The Dragon Utopia units had stats, but no control. In the end, the opp surrendered . Thanks for the game!
