This isn't nonsense. It really is this way. I find it hard to understand such a mindset: ''Here is a formula, and like a sheep, everything ONLY according to it, not a step aside, ONLY by the rule... and only with EXACT numbers.'' Personally, this stresses me out. In geometry and physics—there are rules and formulas there too, but there is ROOM, room for thought.
In algebra, however, one step aside, and that's it.There is no less room for thought in algebra than in geometry, and more than in physics. If you don't notice this, then the problem isn't with the room, but with the thoughts—or rather, their absence. Maybe your professor is mean and grumpy, explaining things in an overly complex way? That does happen...

And someone here mentioned literature? Well, if I introduce you to our "monkey" (the literature teacher), you probably won't enjoy studying this subject (have you heard of Austerlitz (stress on the second syllable) or Madame Scherer (stress on the first syllable))… I'm sitting in literature class and dying from her stupid pronunciation. What the heck did she come here from Turkmenistan for????:)

From anti-teacher stuff:D. Luckily, I'm good at literature and Russian. The teacher is amazing! Although she has a rather unpleasant personality, you can understand her. They say that before she became our class teacher, she had such... damn... STUDENTS (no joke)!!! They are the ones who made her like this. But even with all her irritability and zealous admiration for Pushkin, she turns into an angel if you respond to her rudeness with kindness.
