Weakened, Basil collapsed to the floor. With difficulty, he got up and saw Jerrod lying there, with Laurent next to him. Laurent was trying to revive his friend, but to no avail.
"He's dead," Basil said quietly, approaching his comrade.
"But just a few seconds ago, he was alive and standing," the Catarian replied, still in a state of shock.
"I think he died a long time ago," said the Free Folk, examining Jerrod. "Even he had no chance after such a wound."
"How could that be? After all, he..." Laurent lowered his head. "This shouldn't have happened. It's my fault; I should have saved him," the Catarian continued, accustomed to feeling responsible for his comrades.
"No, we couldn't have done anything," Basil replied. "All that's left is to give our friend a final farewell."
Basil examined Jerrod for wounds and equipment, then they joined the others and expressed their desire for a funeral.
The explosion of the generator, followed by freezing and subsequent thawing, had a very negative impact on the condition of the books. "Eleuia" and "Tome of Light and Darkness" were impossible to read; Aalia Richter's Notes, Part I survived in better condition, but the magical formulas could not be restored and were useless in that state (+1 stat point of your choice). In Aalia Richter's Notes, Part II, only the beginning and end remained intact.

A few days ago, a group of marauders stumbled upon my house while I was away. When I returned, it was burned down, and almost all valuable items were stolen, leaving only an amethyst behind. Although I felt some attachment to this little house and the lost belongings, I had no desire to run through the dense forest searching for cockroaches. Considering the loss of the diary and the fireproof paper it was made from, I can be sure that the robbers examined its contents. It is quite curious what their impression was after reading my memories...
After some time, I sensed someone from that group appearing in Dal Shabet. Such a long distance in such a short time – teleportation? I was interested in seeing this thief, so I immediately teleported to his location. Before I could say a word, he threw a bag at me and instantly fired a pistol. He lost an eye, tossed a smoke grenade, and ran away, even though I hadn't done anything yet. What absurdity. I took the Cloak of the Abyss Lord with me, but the sphere wasn't very useful in its current state, although I could still conduct a small experiment. The explosion was visible even in the depths of the Wild Lands.
Black Ice appeared in the New World and began causing trouble.

In 471, Ayros subdued the demons, crushed Vasanata, and then went to another world, taking all his servants and followers with him. No matter how hard I tried to recreate the magical circle for creating a portal that I had seen, I failed. However, I did manage to close off his access back; he will not set foot in this world again unless he finds another way to get here, which I highly doubt. There were fewer problems with the sister of the first Waironis; it was easy for me to trap her soul inside the amethyst. In reality, any clean vessel would have worked, but I had been preparing this stone specifically for these purposes for a long time, and that is why everything went so smoothly.
A few years later, I met Waironis himself, but not the first one, but the seventh. I have always admired his ability to reincarnate in the bodies of his descendants, but as with Ayros, I saw a threat in him, so I joined the great warrior with the sister of his ancestor. What is both frustrating and amusing is that I didn't even have to fight him, as simple female charm was enough. He could not read the lie behind my words and understand that all this means nothing to me, and that physical pleasures are the domain of people who are weak in mind and spirit. However, he can be understood because the preservation of his legacy depends on his own future.

The spell of Ayros, which I managed to learn and improve, opened up an amazing opportunity for me to travel to other worlds – planets, as they are now called in science. I spent the last 600 years traveling through them, by the standards of this world. Now it is the year 1200. It is difficult to put into words how much this planet has changed during my absence, and it is especially unusual to observe the changes that Nevermore has undergone thanks to Ivissa Tant and her heirs. Today I saw Meredianna being brought to Thant Technologies. Apparently, they want to conduct experiments on her, but I cannot help but find this ironic, since she once helped the progenitor of this city achieve the heights at which it stands today. And although people sometimes seem like such absurd creatures, I enjoy watching them.
Children of the Night [This book tells about the essence of vampires, their habits, abilities, etc. It was written by the Helligkeit researcher Hans Augsburger] The lifespan of a vampire is unlimited, but calling them immortal is incorrect because they can die just as easily as a normal person. For normal health functioning, a vampire needs to drink blood regularly, and preferably human blood, because its energy value is much higher than any other. It can also be said that eating ordinary food is harmful for a vampire. The problem is that their digestive system does not work at all, so any food will simply get stuck in the stomach and cause some discomfort until it completely decomposes or is removed from there manually. They also do not need sleep, but this does not mean that they lack it. Very often, vampires practice daytime sleep in order to "fast forward" time, because sunlight is fatal to them, and during the day their activity is greatly limited. In terms of feelings and emotions, they are very similar to people (although they differ in much greater calmness, coldness, and rationality), sometimes even platonic love has been observed. They do not experience physical attraction. The method of spreading vampirism remains unknown, and although history knows cases of artificially turning a person into a vampire, such individuals are usually much weaker than pure-blooded relatives and have a less cold character.
Known abilities of vampires. An average vampire is approximately twice as strong as an ordinary person in absolutely every way, and their strength grows with age (not counting those cases when they are in long-term sleep). Not all members of the bloodsuckers possess the abilities listed below. - Supernatural speed (movement speed 10/20/30/40/50 per action point; initiative bonuses are similar). - Health regeneration (16/24/32/40/48%). The vampire must be fed for this ability to work properly. - Mind control, telepathy, and other abilities of this kind. - Unhuman strength. Damage in unarmed combat is equal to 50/100/150/200/250 * strength stat. - Ability to dissolve into the air, see at night, etc.. - Immunity to mind effects and other status effects, high resistance to magic. And many more...

Well, let's go to the fortress sometime, avoiding dangerous things.
Boris, who was surveying the area after the disaster, ran into Ayren and Vladimir. At first, he was glad that there were some people here who might be able to help, but when he noticed that their equipment was in the same state as his own, he became wary. And then, looking at the girl's face and recognizing her as Ayren, he got completely confused.
Boris, unaware of how many enemies there were and what they wanted, and without a working means of communication, ran back to the Castle. His running speed and that of his pursuers were exactly the same, so although they didn't fall behind, they couldn't catch him.
Lol. -Hey, man! Wait! Stop! We're just confused and don't know what to do! You would attack everything too if the last thing you remembered was being taken to an execution!
Where do we go? Where do we end up when we save the world?
Vladimir stopped and gestured for Ayren to stop as well.
"We won't be able to catch up to him," he said quietly. "He'll raise the alarm soon. One thing is clear: he didn't have radio communication. His equipment is as frozen as ours, so we can assume there's no radio equipment in the castle. I would suggest we start walking back to Nevermore and hope that their transport is also out of order, but... did you see the new plants that have appeared here? I have a strange and bad feeling. It's better for us to surrender to these people voluntarily; at least they are in the same desperate situation as we are.
Where do we go? Where do we end up when we save the world?
I'll decide later what to take. Gerda gently nudged Angus, who was engrossed in learning. --"Mmmoshli!"-- With these words (though they were words, not mooing), the northerner left the castle. "Well... I wonder what we should do now? And what has changed in the world? Surely, scientific progress has made great strides. Even before, all I knew how to do was use the results of others' work. And now..." And the books were indeed interesting. But they are of little use now."
