Yoru was waiting for me. They say that since the time of the Dishonorable War, there haven't been so many guards in the city. But this time we decided to use their own methods and infiltrated Ville-de-Roi secretly. Fortunately, I am still a relatively unknown person, and no one recognizes me by sight; it wasn’t difficult to pretend to be a peasant. Of course, I received some help, but now I fear I am on my own. I need to wait a bit and try to find allies. They say Renard is also in the city, and not just him – many want to break free from oppression.
The city surprised me unpleasantly. I have never been here before, but I always thought that the "City of Kings" looked dignified. Here, everything seems neglected. Yoru allocates money for urban fortifications and administrative buildings, while everything else struggles to survive on its own. All the money goes to Ishiva, although you would think they wouldn't need so much. They say the governor is trying to do something; thanks to his efforts, roads are being built, and essential buildings like hospitals are being constructed. But his hands are tied. My first priority will be to go to him; I am sure he will try to support me.
P.S. I had to throw away the old diary. I shudder to think what they would do to me if they found it during a search at the gates. Perhaps later, I will describe the events that happened to me along the way.Chapter 1. Night. Street. Lamp.
Ville-de-Roi is preparing to welcome the king. This rumor arose seemingly out of nowhere, but spread with lightning speed. Few doubted that the king would enter the city riding a white horse, followed by an army of loyal knights, while the yoru would cowardly leave the city and retreat back to Ishiva, tails between their legs! But today, the king’s retinue was not yet visible on the horizon, and the guards at the gate calmly checked those entering, as in previous days.
And yet, even at night, there were many people in the streets, all hurrying about their business.
Olam Hével passed by the town square. His path led to the center of the city, where there was a shop selling beautiful lights for the upcoming holiday. But if there is a holiday,
Olam will probably spend it in the hospital: some passerby, whom no one initially paid attention to, slashed him with a sword right on the street and immediately disappeared. Fortunately for
Hével, an elderly man happened to be passing by – as it turned out, he was quite a good healer.
Gekasan_RU got into a drunken brawl near a tavern. His opponent proved to be strong, so
Gekasan took a beating. But his victor didn't have time to celebrate knocking
Gekasan unconscious; he immediately heard a voice behind him:
“Hey, you brute! I'll show you how to swing your fists! Find someone your own size, like me!”
The humanoid was very surprised: his new opponent was clearly not his size. And yet, the second round ended badly for the brawler; he lay on the ground, and it was strange that he even managed to get up after a while. The humanoid spat out four teeth.
“Damn it! Only two left,” he said angrily. And then he witnessed the same enemy stumble over nothing, trying to stab a dwarf with a weapon. And... what happened next? It seemed as if a healthy reptilian head emerged from the sewer and bit him on the leg. No, maybe he imagined it…
Something unpleasant also happened to
Aniruddha, but less serious: he fell down the stairs. But his bruises quickly healed thanks to the intervention of a random passerby.
Arandor could rest easy, both about his legs and his life.
Someone calling himself "The Dark Side of the Moon" (interesting which of the two moons he meant?) inadvertently offended a little girl and found himself facing her formidable compatriot. A huge dwarf pointed a lamp (soldering iron) at the unfortunate man and began asking questions:
“Is this a mask? Answer immediately, what kind of mask are you wearing, you scoundrel! You'll be eating dirt, understand? Answer!”
“Dragon. This is a dragon mask.”
“WHAT?! Dragon? So you were created to kill, you miserable dragon?!"
“I can fight, if that’s what you mean.”
“That’s exactly what I knew!! That’s exactly what I knew!! Murderer! Fascist! And you probably even hang out with Lord Voldemort! Tell me, did he send you?! HIM?!?!?”
“No, honestly, I don’t know who you’re talking about.”
“Oh yeah? Well then get out of here!” – and the dwarf shoved the interrogated man out the door without hesitation. It was at that moment that the city greeted its new dawn.
