Please, don't compare Heroes 5 with the great The Elder Scrolls. They have nothing in common. Look at the dark elves in TES III Morrowind and the dark elves in Heroes 5. The difference is obvious. In TES, the dark elves are normal (patriarchy, etc.), while in Heroes, they have a phase shift (matriarchy, etc.). In TES III, they worship daedra and aedra, as well as the Great Tribunal or the Almsivi. And in Heroes 5, they worship some dragons.

If you look at it, the Dark Elf race isn't that new; it's a reworked Dungeon faction.

Look: elves exist everywhere; from what world were they copied?
Dragons exist everywhere; where did they come from?
Orcs and similar races (barbarians, etc.) exist everywhere;

In my opinion, all these fantasy races are parodies of Earth's races. So, should we blame everyone for plagiarism?

Look at the dark elves in Salvatore's works. In Heroes 5, they differ only in skin color and the name of their patron goddess.

P.S. And there's no need to criticize the Matriarchy. IMHO, it's a perfectly progressive system; women are better at developing society, it's just how they are. The main thing is not to confuse it with dominance ;)

Conceptually, it's a concept. There are as many opinions as there are people. And in general, if all races in games were made according to templates, it wouldn't be interesting to play.

Why shouldn't this be interesting? Each race has its own worldview. If you don't like the matriarchy, play as the Whitecloaks (Haven); they even have an inquisition. And I will enjoy mowing down these inquisitors, in memory of the witch hunts.

But why is it unacceptable?????????? Girls can perfectly figure everything out on their own, without you! For example, I really like their worldview!
