I also had version 2005 for a long time, although it occasionally glitched, but the same problem appeared just the other day. Updating to qip 2012 helped. At first, I was annoyed when I tried to install it - there was a lot of unnecessary stuff, but now I've figured it out - you can disable everything and you get the old, good QIP.

Completely uninstall all previous versions before installing the new one, including manually deleting the folders containing the remnants of the program. Then everything should work.

Also, Quip 2005 is already outdated because of this. You should have at least 2008, and in general, 2012 has been working without any issues for a long time. In my experience, there was only one minor issue. As for the contact problems with the newly installed 2012, this is again due to the old 2005.

P.S.: I recommend everyone to use Revo Uninstaller to remove programs - it's free and removes everything from everywhere, even previously undeletable files, and cleans up the entire registry, etc.

Your ICQ account probably just got disconnected. Go to Accounts and check if it’s still active.

It's even simpler; a fresh version of QIP is clearly installed, with separate lists for ICQ contacts and QIP contacts, which are activated during registration. However, it doesn't know how to connect to ICQ. And, by the way, the 2005 version of QIP hasn't become outdated at all – it works perfectly without a single glitch since its installation, including offline messages, which many people complain about not receiving.
