Update to the latest version (or rather, download the executable from the website). I also had version 2005 for a long time, although it occasionally glitched, but the same problem appeared just the other day. Updating to qip 2012 helped. At first, I was annoyed when I tried to install it - there was a lot of unnecessary stuff, but now I've figured it out - you can disable everything and you get the old, good QIP.
