Christoph noted this fact and continued to study the book. He was primarily interested in the last years of Shendar's life, as well as other facts and myths associated with him.

In the last years of his life, Shendar was struck by a serious illness, brought on by stress (as the book mentioned, his teacher, Dascalos, was brutally torn apart by a werewolf known as Tromeros). Shendar tried to take an active part in the lives of the mages and help them in their scientific endeavors, but he did not possess the authority of Dascalos, which complicated his work. When Shendar died, he was buried next to his library, and of course, his tomb was never found.
One of the most interesting myths about Shendar claimed that he chose the location for his library not by chance: it was the site of an ancient battle, a conflict between the Ant people. Shendar had a very negative attitude towards any manifestation of violence (in which he partially differed from his teacher, who, of course, did not support violence, but believed that sometimes it was the lesser of two evils). This motivated him to "cleanse" the site of the bloody battle within the most advanced and intellectual people of that time using the light of knowledge. Of course, there is more symbolism than real meaning in this, so most researchers agree that Shendar did not engage in such nonsense.
Taking a piece of paper and something to write with from the library, Christoph noted down the most interesting points on the paper, then returned the book to its place.
It's funny how fate sometimes plays tricks: just yesterday, the mage didn't even know about the existence of a state, or perhaps even a settlement of his own race, and didn't really want to know, but now he will have to go to those lands. Nevertheless, this was definitely a step forward, and Ailenberg received a pleasant boost of emotions.
It's a pity that the room was practically useless - 2 silver coins for a few hours of sleep is an expensive price. But happiness is not in money, but in knowledge! Onward, to the capital of the Dascal, onward to the origins.
Looking for the fastest mode of transport. Ideally, if they exist, perhaps some kind of teleporter; if not, then whatever is available. If desired, the journey can be skipped.

I could have put him on a wind-powered aircraft, but there's a risk he wouldn't make it. And I'd still have to find him. So, I'm putting him on a ship. Christopher boarded a ship to Lefkopolis; the journey was fraught with difficulties and took exactly 32 days, after which Ailenberg arrived in the capital of Katas and its wealthiest city.

-Good day,- Christoph nodded,- I am interested in the library of Shendar, and I would like to discuss this with knowledgeable people. We could combine our information, or perhaps I could participate in a research expedition, if one is being planned.

“In that case, you should go to the archaeology bureau. Down the hallway to the left,” the teacher said, pointing with her hand. “You’ll see a sign there.”

He was greeted politely by the elderly dascalos.
--Yes, I understand. And which institute are you from? As for the situation with the Shendar Library... Let me check so I don't accidentally mislead you, -- he rummaged through the archive under the letter "S" and pulled out a folder. --The last government archaeological expedition to find the library was sent eighty-three years ago, and unfortunately, nothing was found. Since then, only expeditions from scientific centers have been sent, and one of them is still working. Interestingly, there is only one humanoid there. Would you like to join? Just tell me, which institute are you from?
-The thing is, my interest, although it has a scientific component, is still more of a personal one. Therefore, if affiliation with an institution is necessary, you can assign me to yours. -Of course, I won't leave you in debt.

–Ah, I see. So, you're a volunteer... Well, you have the right to ask the Academy of Humanitarian Magic of Leukopolis to officially accept you for an excursion. If they agree, you will receive standard volunteer pay, in addition to satisfying your scientific interest, of course. You can, however, go as a "wildcard," but then no one will be responsible for you. The organizer of the excursion and its only participant at the moment is Myrt Bocaris, and the declared excavation site is the village of Konta, near Simmachia, a little south.

-Snouz, Deriel Snouz,- replied Christoph. -But how can he be alone at the excavation site? In the sense that it's not an easy task, and digging alone is too energy-consuming...
