Please help! The game seems to be working fine, but there's one annoying little thing!

When a hero casts spells like "Lightning" or "Divine Power" on the battlefield, the visual effects of these spells (a lightning flash or divine light falling from above) don't disappear until the unit on which the spell was cast performs some action. For example, it starts an attack. I've tried different versions. This problem exists in all of them, so I understand that the issue is not with the game but with my computer, which, to be honest, is not very powerful: HP mini 3600 Atom 1.66 Ghz netbook, 1 GB of RAM, GMA 3150 video card (latest driver).
I've also tried changing the settings, but it doesn't help. In principle, it's not a big deal, but when there are many units, it significantly affects performance, and it just doesn't look good: a peasant stands there, looking around, and at the same time, a continuous, terrible discharge between him and the sky pulsates....

I found a patch with the comment "removes debris after spells. specifically for weak old machines." It helped – it removed the "debris" after the Bless spell, but the others ("Lightning," "Create Phantom") still leave debris)). I hope for at least some advice on how to disable these effects.

By the way, for some reason, the elven city is displayed as a black silhouette when you enter it, but this is a minor issue compared to everything listed above. I found a separate topic about this, but maybe it's all closely related.

Please help! I've read all the topics and haven't found anything similar. The game doesn't launch on Windows 7. The loading ring appears, and it shows up in the processes, but after 5 seconds, it disappears. I've already updated DirectX, updated the video card drivers, disabled the antivirus during installation, and set the path to English – nothing helps. On the previous version of Windows, it worked perfectly, even without compatibility mode.

A universal answer from Ment: try running it in compatibility mode with XP. Have you tried that?

It worked fine on the previous Windows version. I installed it on another computer (also running Windows 7), and it runs perfectly, but not on mine. I've been struggling with this for 3 weeks now

What if you ask a friend to lend you the disc? Version 1.6 should work without a disc, so it's just for a one-time use. But in general, the problem is really strange. Is the computer the same as it was with the previous version of Windows? Is it a laptop?

If the problem is with the drive or the disc, then the patch should help. (Or maybe install from a different image, for example, one downloaded from the internet). Check the swap file, see if the drives are almost full, and if the emulation program has been changed. Does the game menu show 1.06 at the bottom right? The version, as I understand, is not the Gold edition.
