Don't use GR, try Hamachi instead.

No, I'm definitely not very good at this. Out of all the options, I only managed to install Garena. I don't understand where and what to click for the others. Hamachi requires some kind of unclear registration, and the same goes for "GameSpy." By the way, once I managed to join someone's game through Garena, and it actually launched without freezing. It happened only once, and I don't know why – it hasn't happened again. We even made a few moves. However, then other players started complaining that they were "locked in" and that the random distribution somehow disadvantaged them, and one by one, they left the game.

Today I tried to play with my brother over the network - it didn't work.
I create a game in GameRanger, he joins, we go in, choose a map, resources, everything. Then I press "start" and that's where the problem is. At first, everything loads, but the data sending freezes at 98% for the creator, and somewhere at 15-25% for the one who joined.
We both have Heroes 3 Platinum Edition, V4.0. Identical version from the same distribution. I searched the entire internet - found nothing. Then I contacted a gamer from Finland directly in the program, he created a game, I joined - everything was fine. We didn't try the other way around.
Maybe someone can tell me what the problem is? Maybe something is wrong with the game? Or something else? I am in Dubai, he is in Russia.

Decided to play Heroes of Might and Magic III through GameRanger :smile13: ... But it didn't work. :smile05:
However, Hamachi helped :smile20: :
- install Hamachi;
- someone creates a session in Hamachi;
- the rest join;
- then launch Heroes, create a TCP/IP multiplayer game;
- the rest connect via the IP address of the creator, as indicated in Hamachi;

As practice has shown, Game Ranger is a very finicky thing. Everyone has the same version of the game, and almost everyone has it installed on a clean Windows system. The necessary ports are open, but it still connects intermittently. In short, it takes a whole week of troubleshooting just to start playing. Heroes 3+ is a whole different story. We decided to switch to Hamachi and are currently learning how to use it.

Hey, can anyone help me out? We've always created connections through Hamachi, but after November 19th and the IP address change, we can't connect anymore. We've tried a bunch of VPN connection programs, and the connection is established, but we can't connect through Heroes. What could be the problem? We're connecting through 3G modems.

We wanted to play Heroes 3 online with my brother as allies, but in a way that we could observe each other's battles. First, we tried playing through Gameranger, and for observing the allied battles, we used broadcasts – initially Skype (screen sharing, which was inconvenient because we had to switch to this mode every turn, and the image quality was poor). Then, we tried using Mikogo: we created two simultaneous broadcasts (for which we simply launched Mikogo again on top of the running Mikogo). The next day, Gameranger started malfunctioning – the client's game would freeze on the main menu screen.
Then, we had the idea to play Hot Seat using something with remote control, like Radmin. We found Teamviewer and started using it. Everything was fine, but the lag for the person connecting to the other's computer was annoying.
What can you recommend for playing together without lag (or with minimal lag) and with the ability to watch the allied battles?

You can play through Hamachi. As for streaming, I'm not sure, either Mikogo or TeamViewer.
