P.S. I searched the forum, but couldn't find an answer. If it was mentioned somewhere, I would be grateful for a link.

It depends on the goals. When clearing neutral creatures and fighting against another Necropolis, higher-tier units are better due to their ability to raise the dead. Archliches are useful with their Plague and Cloud spells and will be helpful in the final stages against any faction except Necropolis.
