How do you upgrade Liches?

It depends on the goals. When clearing neutral creatures and fighting against another Necropolis, higher-tier units are better due to their ability to raise the dead. Archliches are useful with their Plague and Cloud spells and will be helpful in the final stages against any faction except Necropolis.
